I learned a long time ago not to argue with Nintendo fanboys since you never come out on top, but to keep it brief, I feel Nintendo long ago abandoned their core fanbase in favor of the quick and easy sell to the casual consumer. While yes, they have had some fantastic games this generation, they are few and far in between, and even the best of them rely far too heavily on gimmicks to enhance gameplay, rather than actual substance. The fact that they've abandoned the core gamer market has come back to bite them in the ass and it's evident that once the novelty wore off on the Wii, it dropped hard and it dropped fast, and this WiiU thing just looks like more of the same.
But anyways, let's keep this on topic.
:lol:Nintendo fanboy. I'm not a 'fanboy' of any console, whether this gen or any gaming generation. I've always bought the system where the games I wanted to play were.
I just find it funny that folks will rip on Nintendo for being 'gimmicky' with the Wii's motion controls, yet not think the exact same of Microsoft's Kinect or Sony's Move. Not to mention ripping on them for the shovelware, when in fact every console has shovelware/garbageware. How many mini game compilations have been released on PSN/XBL that would typically fall under the 'shovelware' designation on the Wii?
ya really, nintendo has always been focused on kids for their profits
the shovelware is insane on the wii and ds has a lot too, kids and parents buy it because they dont know any better
nintendo i think just got lucky with the nes and snes, the tech and the time period that those fell into just worked to spawn all the good third party games that everyone refers back to and remembers "the good days of nintendo" for, but really the credit needs to go to the third party software developers, they are all still out there you just have to find which system they are making their games on, etc. - it does suck that theres so many systems that they are spread out on though
everyone thats grown up needs to accept that nintendo has and will always be a kids "toy" business
i wish sega came back into hardware and made some crazy platform that handled 2d/3d not geared towards kids or just "arcades" which was the fail of the dreamcast
oh and they would need a kick ass anti piracy setup, that also killed the dreamcast
When the current gaming gen launched and hardware prices were 2x that of launch for last gen, I just cringed. Gaming, for me, has ALWAYS been a hobby that is a casual pasttime for me and something I don't wanna go broke by continuing to enjoy. That's why I waited till 2-3 years into this gen before buying a system, since the 360 and PS3 had had some price drops since they launched and thus made it more affordable for me.
I don't need some HD supermegaultra console that does everything under the sun. Just gimme one that plays games and does it well without failing every six months from normal use.
