Bah, don't be ashamed. There is no reason to ever be embarresed about one's movie tastes as long as you truly enjoy the film...unless you don't like Serenity then you are completely and utterly wrong ;)

on DVD, i picked up 40 yr old virgin.
which, i remember being hilarious in the theaters, but for some reason lost a lot of it's funniness while i was watching it, maybe I was just tired, because I was watching it while I was eating pizza and mildly remember waking up to notice a couple changed scenes, then being non-entertained again and falling back asleep...was it just me or did the additional footage break a few of those scenes into "Too Long and Too direct to be funny anymore" scenes?? maybe I'll watch it again later. :whistle2:k

*in theaters* however, I finally got out to see RENT last week, and~ *Amazing*

^___^

I mean, granted I can see where someone not familiar with the fact that this is the majority of the original broadway cast won't get what the middle-aged adults are doing dancing on tables, shooting up, and being more concerned with 'selling out' then being a part of funtioning adult society...
but...proclaiming 'la ve boheme' is still just as fun if you can pretend that Rosario Dawson is only 19...

(BTW, her 'out tonight' dance is teh hottest thing ever to be emblazoned on the big screen, PG-13 nothwithstanding...damn...I'm glad I don't have the problem of visible arousal, lmao... >.> )

*ahem* also, There are parts where the film (as is the soundtrack and musical, which I've been lucky enough to see the NY cast in) is tragic and sad. and I was definately crying. as was at least half the theater.
It's just a very powerful movie.

If you hate musicals like Evita or can't stand homosexuality of even the most tasteful kind, then skip it, it's above you. but, otherwise:
GO SEE RENT~~expand your mind and stuff. =P
I passed on King Kong tonight, and ended up watching The Aristocrats and Dodgeball instead. I'm going to see Jesus is Magic tomorrow.
wow, for a moment i thought you watched "Aristocats", which is rather a different movie, but now I have the song that the kittens sing on the piano stuck in my head ^_^

Watched the end of Spider-man 1 to kill time before SNL, so far 3 sketches, 3 misses, how the hell is this show still on? I haven't watched an episode at all this season but I thought maybe an episode featuring Jack Black would up the funny...that's a no... They need a major shake-up of the writing staff.

It's not just the writing staff, though. Most of the performers suck. There's a handul of good talent on the show, but they aren't being used well.

anyone caught Syrianna? I'm thinking of catching this and King Kong...they would be the first two flicks i've seen at a theater since Kill Bill 2

Well thus far the biggest problem with this show is a sketch featuring one unfunny gag, repeated over and over. OMG the door opens and wind blows in, hillarious! OMFG, there not pointing at Jack Black ROTFLMFAO... Makes me long for sketch comedy of the quality of the days of Kids in the Hall. Hell, the Who's Line is it Anyway? cast quite literally pull better comedy out of their butt.

Yeah, they keep repeating things over and over again. Also, they need to cut back (or get completely rid of) the political/presidential sketches. They're not funny anymore.

I guess every once in awhile they need to invite Will Farrel back to host a game of Celebrity Jeopardy featuring Sean Connery.

Me and You and Everyone We Know

A great film, quirky and undeniably indie, almost to a fault at times, but doesn't fall into a feeling of being forced, instead giving a beautifully eccentric view on life.

saw saw 2 on sun., great holiday movie LOL
cool flick, not as good as the first but the twists and turns are good

also saw "holiday inn".... it was ok..... good holiday flick i guess the singing and dancing was cool...ah well it was good to be on while trimming the tree

Best skits evar. I used to have all of those in .mp3 format, and we would play them during web design class.
I saw Chronicles of Narnia last Tuesday.
How is it?

I've never seen Aristocats.

Jesus is Magic was very good, mostly. Some of the songs were pretty weak and the "backstage intrigue" was utterly worthless. The stand-up, however, was golden.

Gangs of New York

An epic Scorsese masterpiece, pulsating with life in every frame. I think that my enthusiasm for this film knows no bounds.

Closer
Excellent film. Interesting the entire way through with fantastic performances and direction, although the ending was fairly predictable.

Pretty Persuasion
Starts out interestingly enough but gets quickly very tedious and lame.

Saw the Family Stone with my gf; it was on ok movie, even had some parts where I was laughing outloud to it, but it's mostly a middle-age chickflick movie.

Also saw Dead and Breakfast. I ordered it off of DDD and just got around to watching it. Not quite as good as Shaun of the Dead which it claims to be akin to, but it has it's moments.

Pretty much my exact thoughts on the movie

The Godfather Part III

Certainly doesn't compare to the other two, but still a very good film, and a fine conclusion to the trilogy.

Just finished watching Memento again. fuck, I love this movie!!!!

Now I am watching it in chronological order (I didn't even know about this hidden feature even though I've had the SE dvd for about 3 years -_-;; ).

Fantastic Four - Not bad, certainly worth the $2 I paid to rent the movie.

Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit - Saw it twice yesterday, once during my flight and once at the dollar theater, very good film. Very nicely done.

Side note, who pays to see A Christmas Story anymore? They're showing it at the dollar theater today and it was at the downtown theater during Thanksgiving weekend. It's on for FREE tomorrow all damn day.

The spatial resolution of 35mm film is much higher than that of even the highest quality DVD, it runs at its proper speed of 24 frames per second, and the screen is probably a bit bigger than any of our TVs here at CAG. ;) It's just a different experience, in all. Heck, for a buck, who WOULDN'T pay to see A Christmas Story projected?

I guess some people like to see classics on film, in a real theater. As for that movie, I'd rather see it at home. In fact, I make it a point to watch that movie at least once during the holidays (during that 24 hour block).

The other movie I watch without fail every Christmas is Christmas Vacation.

To an extent, I can agree, but I guess it depends on a person's fanatical devotion to the movie. My dollars are just worth more to me, I guess. There's probably other movies that I'd pay to see in the theaters if they came back that other people would scoff at.

Also for people that don't have cable; that would be a nice luxary to have. It could also be a nice outing along with going to a chinese reasturant to get some duck for christmas dinner.
How does it compare to previous Godzilla films?
Having watched it and being a HUGE Godzilla fan, im having a hard time not trying to compare it to Power Rangers. Godzilla himself was unusually agile, doing flips and jumping in the air and what not. The other monsters equally so. The main alien villain made himself look like an ass. Explosions everywhere. I liked the new look of the monsters, even G himself, but with all the cheesery that comes with Power Ranger type fight scenes, I found myself rolling my eyes once too often.

Number one reason to see this movie: Godzilla Vs. Sony Gozilla (Zilla).

hehe, ya I had heard about that, mocking the American version of the movie.
Godzilla: Final Wars.
If I've never seen a Godzilla movie (well, I've seen bits from a few movies), would I enjoy this? I like the Godzilla character and the semi-cheesiness factor that the movies have.

Watch it if you want to see a giant monster movie. Its not one of those that takes long periods to explain things or has lulls. This is all out monster fighting cheese, bad dubbing and all. Yeah, youll like it :D

Cool. I'll pick it up the next time I go to the video store.
