When's the last time you turned it on?

The Wii has been on for at least 36 of the last 48 hours. We borrowed Guitar Hero from my mom. Since I brought it home, my wife, my son, and I have been playing through it continuously for a day and a half. Good stuff.

Actually, my son is now playing Endless Ocean for the last 2 hours because his left hand is sore.

I started playing Prince of Persia Rival Swords the other day and I'm surprised with how well the control scheme works. It's not perfect, but it works much better then I thought it would, especially considering the game was designed for a traditional control pad.
It's funny, I've played the 3 Prince of Persia games on different systems. I played the first one on the Xbox, the second one on the PS2, and I'm playing the third on the Wii.

Nine times out of ten, they'd just get blocked or someone would hit me from behind or some shit. Except for when I used the Dark Prince/Sand Wraith, I found "special" attacks - leaping over enemies, doing throws, bouncing off walls - about a billion times more effective.

well, ive been playing alot of wii recently because of the week break from school...

I played madden 08 and SMG yesterday.
Today, I played Madden 08.

I'd have to turn on my system to check but i think the last game i played was when i bought Mario Strikers about august or september, SMG and Mlb power pros have been sitting unopened been playing to much GH3, Halo, CoD4 and others on the 360

Despite having Mario Galaxy and Budokai Tenkaichi 3 that I have only played for a few hours....December 31, 2007 was the last time I played my Wii....vacation and school prevent me from enjoying the greatness...that will all change when Brawl will come out. I will make the time to play Wii.

Gone back to Zack & Wiki right now. Working on the Bonelich things (easy when you get the hang of them, and the music kicks ass) and the hidden treasures.

I haven't put ours on for a few weeks. The weird thing is that I'm right in the middle of SMG, and I've enjoyed it a lot, but I don't feel compelled to go back and play it every day like I usually do when I'm playing something I consider to be a great game. I feel like I could leave it untouched for months, and just pick it up again whenever. Like I said, weird.

My son is on the Wii pretty regularly, usually to play Zelda: TP. My wife was going strong with Zack & Wiki for a while, but I think she got stuck and sort of gave up on it a month or so ago.

Yeah that's a major problem they have, and I hope Ubisoft fixes it if they make a new Prince of Persia game.
I really like how you can now stealth kill. It makes combat so much faster.

Playing Mario Galaxy every here and there.. but if I have my Wii on I'm playing Harvest Moon. Clearly the SNES one ;).. eventually it'll be the Wii one \\:D/

Harvest moon? seems addicting. I should really get to downloading all those VC games i missed.

...
And to think im still waiting for the sands of time(my first POP) in the mail from Goozex.

Last night I played Ghost Squad. Tonight I would have probably threw in RE:UC, but I have been playing Karaoke Rev: American Idol Encore (PS2) on the PS3 with my friend because I just got it in the mail.

I play Wii all the time (relative to other consoles - I don't get to play games often).
...
And to think im still waiting for the sands of time(my first POP) in the mail from Goozex.
fucking spectacular game. The escort mission aspect of it is incredibly annoying due to the borderline-nonexistent AI of your only ally (she's an archer who doesn't fucking move when attacked, so when you go to protect her from whoever's attacking her, you bring the three guys you're fighting with you - and the entire fight with all four guys becomes centered around her), but it's an awesome game. Skip Warrior Within - Wiki the plot if you must - and go straight to Two Thrones/Rival Swords.

CML for WW and Two Thrones if you must.

I didn't think Warrior Within was that bad. The new style wasn't a good as the Sands of Time but it didn't turn me off from the game, and the gameplay was pretty much exactly the same as the Sands of Time.

Blackbird if you enjoy Sands of Time I say get Warrior Within since you can easily find it for $10 or less, but be prepared for a much darker game then Sands.

Fortunately, I lack the energy at this point in time to rant about the flaws in Warrior Within. I say fortunately because this gives you time to prepare for the fucking essay I'm going to post in this thread on that topic tomorrow.

I'm scared.

Very, very scared. Please don't destroy my meager opinions too badly. ;)

My only PoP experience was Sands of Time and I've been told by many a hardcore gamer to leave it at that. I've heard EVERY subsequent installment will only teint my opinion of the series forever. Usually though it is when they're comparing them to Sands of Time, which is such a fanfuckingtastic game that even a game that is shitty compared to SoT can be a damn fine gaming experience.

Seriously I've only ever heard consistently scathing reviews of subsequent PoPs but I'm definitely open to other opinions since I've never played them myself.

It definitely starts poorly (that is, it talks about Warrior Within), but the game picks up once you get the dagger. Stealth kills really speed combat up, and the platforming is as good as ever.

Warrior Within rant coming in a few hours.

So just to make this discussion relevant to this forum, how is the Wii version of Two Thrones/Rival Swords? Decent PS2 port, or a Ubisoft post-launch half-assed effort?

Easily the best of the bunch anyway.

I'm glad this thread didn't turn out to be a flame war.

I've been meaning to start SMG here for awhile, I've just gotten into way too many 360 games to do it.

Hopefully, selling off some other stuff will force me to pay attention to it again.

Whens the last time I turned it on? About 3 months ago, to play SMG, which I might add is grossly overrated, but what big name games aren't now days? My younger brother does play it though, but even he has stopped playing for about a month, and he falls within Nintendo's demographic.

Try it out, it isn't a bad game by any means, and in looking at your recently played games list, it would probably do you good to play something like SMG.

It wasn't a post-launch half-assed effort, either, as the game was available on launch.

IIRC, Rival Swords came out in February, three months after launch; I was thinking more of Red Steel-type "launch" titles.

After enjoying Tomb Raider Anniversary, I'm quasi-interested in getting Rival Swords for more of the same, but am worried that bad controls or a shoddy port would sour the experience. (And I'm too lazy to join Blockbuster and rent ;))

I hadn't touched my Wii in months, but my 360 just red ringed, and as I wait for the coffin and then wait for repairs, my Wii might finally get some love.

Wii-kly Update: Two New Classic Games Added to Wii Shop Channel

This week’s additions take players on a psychedelic trip down memory lane. Kirby® is back and armed with a bunch of new talents, including the option to combine abilities. Curious to find out what mixing the Burn and Cutter powers gives Kirby? We won’t spoil that for you here. If the colorful landscapes in the pink sphere’s world are too much for you and you’re looking for straight firepower instead, then try plunging your soul into the mind of a twisted demon. We’ll just see how you fare against wave after wave of bizarre enemy creatures in that kind of environment.

Nintendo adds new games to the Wii™ Shop Channel at 9 a.m. Pacific time every Monday. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week’s new games are:

Kirby 64™: The Crystal Shards: (Nintendo 64®, 1-4 players, Rated E for Everyone, 1,000 Wii Points): Kirby’s first 3-D adventure is also his Nintendo 64 debut, and it finds the always-versatile hero battling a new enemy called Dark Matter. Dark Matter is after a distant land’s powerful crystal, but a young fairy named Ribbon attempts to save it by escaping with the gem to Dream Land. Now the crystal has been broken, and it’s scattered around the world. Take control of Kirby and help him journey across six worlds, battling a wide variety of enemies and challenging bosses, as he tries to collect all 100 pieces of the shattered crystal. Along the way, you’ll use Kirby’s trademark copying ability to use enemies’ strengths against them. Not only that, but try combining any two abilities to create a brand-new one that is usually stronger than the original. Throw in three exciting multiplayer minigames, and you’ve got a package of which even King Dedede would be proud. Fans of Kirby and action games with bright, colorful graphics should vacuum this one up.

Psychosis: (TurboGrafx16, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone – Mild Fantasy Violence, 600 Wii Points): This is a side-scrolling shooter played in a world created from the mind of a twisted demon. Your soul has suddenly wandered into that evil world that exists in every person’s heart. The only way out is to blast your way past the grotesque creatures that block your path in five “causes” (stages). You must face the dangers of this psychedelic world by making full use of three shot types and the satellite option. With power-ups, you can change your shots to a wide-coverage beam, a satellite-generated laser and more. Each shot type can be powered up to three levels. You can also block enemy fire by rotating the satellites to a desired position. How you use these features will be the key to successfully escaping this strange and surreal world.

I never played Kirby 64. Maybe I have ::shrugs::.. Anyone have thoughts on this? Seems like an OK week. Glad to see more N64 games.

It's actually not to bad. I haven't played Two Thrones, but the graphics look pretty similar to the first two PoP games (plus it has widescreen support). The controls aren't perfect, but they work pretty well.
Plus it's only $20 now, which is a little more then you can get it for on the PS2/Xbox/Gamecube.

i was thinking about getting Tomb raider(aint it $20), but never played that either. Sands of time will decide if i play the other POP games.

Heh, that's what I did. Before selling my 360, about all I had time to play on the Wii was Wii Sports. Now I get 2 hours or so most nights and it's working out great. I've got a lot more cash in my pocket, and I'm able to revisit GCN games I either missed or didn't finish, along with playing other Wii games I hadn't given much attention to.
i was thinking about getting Tomb raider(aint it $20), but never played that either.
Once I got used to the fact that I had to do my own aiming on the Wii version, it was great. Took me several weeks to finish the game, ending with a three-in-the-morning showdown with the
queen beeyach.
The Wii extras and motion controls were all fine, and IMO any reviewer who says they were difficult is weaksauce.

My review here.

last time i turned wii on and played it was the release day of shonun jumps'sbleach:shattered blade. Played that game for the next couple days, wii hasn't been used since. It just doesn't have anything i want, and the few games i did pick up for it and played just plain sucked.

Wow. It's been about a month at this point.

I bought a copy of Umbrella Chronicles, and The Wife didn't like it. So the Wii sits forlornly on the shelf.

So far, Zelda has been my best true Wii experience with it. SMG was... eh. I think I'm starting to get tired of /MARIO/ to be honest. Bring on a Luigi platformer. Or a Donkey Kong one.

I'm sure something will come along to draw my interest into it again.

Since NMH's release week.

sitting under my bed in its box, waiting to be fed Smash Bros.

A lot of SMG hate just in this page alone. I dare not venture into the other pages!
I last turned on my Wii two days ago to play SMG with my girlfriend. It's very tough to finish that game since I promised to play the entire thing with her.

It's been over a week. I haven't had time this week. I still don't. I want to right now, but every time I turn video games on, my cold medicine kicks in and I fall asleep. Though I have no idea what I'd play. I'd kill for some Lego Star Wars, but not at $50.

While most of last year was another story, I've been playing my Wii pretty consistently since Christmas. Got a lot of good games over and after the holidays:

Prince of Persia: Rival Swords (really like this version)
Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles
Resident Evil 4
No More Heroes (beat it, working on a 2nd run)
One Piece: Unlimited Adventure
Super Mario Galaxy (beat it, working on
Luigi's Quest
)

And even some VC love with Contra 3, Lolo, Bubble Bobble and Paper Mario.

Coming up, I got Brawl reserved, and was able to score Super Paper Mario during the Amazon gold box sale. All in all, I'm a pretty happy Wii owner these days :D
