I'm gonna stockpile some AP before I stand up. Can I get in Southall Mansion? I'll need healing, but I do have one FAK. I also purchased Free Running.
If that's the mansion that I'm thinking of, then it's always unbarricaded.
What items should I have checked in my Settings if I'm a Fireman?
Here's a detailed list of notable things - though not all are worth keeping. This list is made specifically for firefighters. Some things are universal (flak jacket, etc.), but some things are specific to that class.
Knives. Not really useful, since you have an axe and axe training. Knives are mostly used by humans trying to destroy generators (see: death cultists, GKers). So far, that doesn't include us.
Crowbars. Their accuracy is not reduced against barricades, so they can be good in an emergency. However, their weight-to-usefulness ratio is not so good, as they suck as weapons. Get if you really want.
Pipe. Crappy weapons, but it allows unskilled survivors to make barricades. Another emergency thing, as I'm the only one that can build barricades right now.
Pistols & clips. A good firearm, but the fire axe is your best bet early on. Still, it never hurts to have these + bullets on hand. I carry four, and seven clips.
Shotguns & shells. Twice the damage of pistols, a million times the complications. They only hold two shells, and their reload rate is abysmal. Find ammo can also be a real pain. I carry seven, and no extra shells.
First Aid Kits. AKA "FAKs" or "Medkits". Certain skills definitely improve your ability to use them, but it's always good to have them.
Flak Jackets. Not found in malls, but they protect you from PKers. They reduce damage from firearms by 20%.
Flare Gun. Emergency weapon (do not fire into the air) only. Probably not worth it.
Radio receiver/transmitter. Not really worth it.
Generator. Heavy, but needed to power buildings. Powered buildings are easier to search, and certain ones have other advantages. We can probably ignore these for now.
Fuel. Needed to keep generators going. Doesn't hurt to have some on hand.
Phones. Nearly useless.
Binoculars. Semi-useful. If used in tall buildings, you can see what zombies are doing up to four blocks away.
Syringes. Most of you guys can't use them. Needed to bring players back from the dead. I have two on me.
DNA Scanner. Often used in tandem with syringes, as it can be used to avoid "rotters" who can not be revived with syringes.
Spray can. Leaves messages on the wall. Fairly useful, but not everyone needs them.
