I loved the old Warriors game and I love good beat-em-ups. I love them enough to point out that Warriors's arcade sendoff thing was utter shit in an otherwise great game.

But Street Brawl is terrible. The mechanics are just utter crap. Don't waste your time or money. There's some cool imagination here with the character designs but that's about all the game has going for it.

EDIT: And a cool as hell boss theme

I'm so happy the saints row 3 dlc is going to be on sale next week. That's $10.50 total for the 3 dlc packs. That's much better than the $20 season pass. I missed the season pass sale a while back.

I don't really give a crap about the dumb nyteblade pack. At least it's only 240 points for those who want it.
Guess it's time to say Xotic is still a piece of shit and I can't recommend it.
Thanks for the info. Saves me time from downloading the demo and wasting my time on a crap game. Will download Shuggy tho. Don't remember that game......

Wait, has the Saints Row 3 Season Pass ever been on sale? I really don't believe it has. Forza, GOW3 and MK pass were all on sale December of last year. Perhaps you thought it was one of those?

Sorry it was 50% off on steam I guess.

If I could turn this into the MNC thread and rant for a bit,
Wouldn't the vast majority of Monday Night Combat players have moved on to the superior PC-only sequels that are F2P?

I'm surprised Super Monday Night Combat is doing so poorly on PC. I figured that game would really take off in popularity.
I would venture to say that for the most part, the 360 community for MNC was mutually exclusive from the PC MNC/SMNC community. I doubt that many players would switch consoles for a f2p "sequel" that's not really a sequel unless they already had the means necessary.
The problem is they changed way too much in the sequel. It doesn't even feel like a MNC game anymore.

The health bars are absurdly long, so it now takes forever to kill anyone. Turret building is removed from the game. Now all the turrets spawn automatically and they can't be upgraded or changed. You can't even shoot at turrets unless your bots take down the shield first.

Basically, they tried to make the game more "noob friendly" and ruined it in the process.
I agree with everything you said except the last part. By turning the game from a team-based shooter with DOTA characteristics into an actual, by-the-book DOTA, I'd say they made it less friendly for new players, especially if they don't know the rules of a MOBA, since there's no tutorial or anything. Those players just end up feeding and possibly getting frustrated and never playing another game again.
I tried playing it on Steam and it's more complicated than MNC in a way that doesn't make it more fun. I like MNC because it had enough MOBA elements to make the gameplay more than a generic shooter, but this much heavier on the MOBA stuff. I do plan on giving it another shot with a controller since I only played it with a mouse around the time that Giant Bomb was fixated on the game.

The menus are also a thing that confuses me, much like Blacklight Retribution, as I can't just see what non-default items I have for each character that I can equip. It doesn't need to be any more complicated than a normal Call of Duty-style game's equipment set-up, but they find ways to mess it up. Blacklight even has temporary items, which irritates me when I get level 19/20 gear for playing through the tutorial that will expire in three days.

I've moved over to Awesomenauts for my MOBA-lite fix, but I'll probably still play some more Blacklight Retribution.
The menus suck as do the actual drops. I only find the products to be worth anything, since the endorsements only alter the stats by decimals of percents.
I actually met a guy who had worked on Monday Night Combat, but he left the company to work at another studio once he saw the direction they were taking with Super MNC. He agreed that over-complicating the game was not the best way to get free-to-play gamers into it.
I'd say he made a good choice. I don't agree with almost any of the decisions Uber made. I'd say the majority of players feel the same considering there's only 800 people playing SMNC at any given time, while there's over 300,000 entries on the 360 MNC leaderboards and active game to this day. It also doesn't help that MNC was completely unique in the 360 ecosystem, while SMNC is just an also-ran in the relatively crowded f2p MOBA scene on PC. They have to compete with the like of Lol, HoN, and DotA 2 and they're having a hard time.

MNC was good--real good. I thought it was something special and after Mass Effect 2, it was my GOTY 2010. For about a month after release, I was ~200 on the kills leaderboards. It was some of the most unadulterated fun I've had with a game this generation. It needed a few tweaks for balance of course (certain pros with certain gold endorsements and a complete overhaul of the juice mechanic) but it was so good and still is today. It's one of the great shames of this generation that Uber took their ball and went home over certification issues with MS like so many other indie devs. This could have been a unique, tentpole arcade franchise for MS and Uber that dominated a digital marketplace, but it turns into just another f2p moba with a low playerbase on pc. Could you imagine a MNC 2 in this year's SofA, instead of the mediocre games being released? So sad. /rant

Two straight weeks of decent sales for me. Picked up both Amalur DLCs which I've been waiting for, just started Amalur too. Gonna snag the three DLCs for Saints next week too.

Can't get enough of KoA.

I already bought the L4D2 Cold Stream DLC and am in for the Deus Ex HR DLC since I bought the game during BestBuy's Gamer Blowout sale. I'm positive I'll buy the Just Cause 2 DLC since it'll be perfect when I go back to it.

I planned on selling Saints Row The Third but with the DLC on sale I'll probably pick that up.

Right now I'm debating on the KoA DLC even though I don't have the game and am considering buying it for cheap.

Too much stuff to buy.

picked up left 4 dead 2 for $15 via craigslist yesterday. now i have a good reason to get cold stream. may just wait for it to go on sale if i can't get through some of my backlog first. even though 560 msp is pretty cheap
need to find a cheap copy of SR3 in time for next week's DLC sale
Found a copy for $20 yesterday on amazon used.
Buy this game people! One of the few XBLA titles, which are well worth at 1200MSP. It's longer than most of the retail games.

Even though i received review copy, will purchase the game on my gf's gamertag next week. Noogy deserves some support.
Not gonna lie, every time I see "Buy this game. They deserve your support. It's so much better than those retail games." it makes me want to do the exact opposite.

That said, that trailer looked pretty cool although if they make me sit through thirty some odd minutes of that hammy dialogue I won't be a happy camper come demo-time.
Was ready to pay 1200 for Jet Set Radio. Pleasantly surprised by the 800 point price.
all the sega remakes, crazy taxi, SC5, fishing, daytona, sonic, streets of rage, golden axe, etc have always been 800 points. it'll no doubt go on sale too but i'm down, just wish they'd do the 2nd one too so you could play online multiplayer

Of course that makes you want to do that, because you're overly cynical. The dialogue is quite good in Dust, but it can also be skipped at will. It really is an extremely impressive game.

Did they fix the glitch mentioned in the OP about the Chain Reaction in the Sales and Specials app?

Because I'm seeing the two Bioshock 2 items I had previously purchased as checked off.

How long is Dust: An Elysian Tail, approximately?
How long is Dust: An Elysian Tail, approximately?
I asked that during one of the live plays. The Dev said straight through only going toward the main story line 8-10 hours. Approximately double that if you wanted to go 100%.

Eh, there are still some bits about it that put me off. How is the combat? It looks like a damage sponge combo fest where I have to mash the same button for thirty or so seconds to kill a single grunt, which is something I hated about Bayonetta.

And how is the story? Is it actually interesting and unique, or is it more generic "chosen one must fight against the darkness" drivel?

Don't get me wrong, I actually don't want to hate it right off the bat, but I don't want to spend $15 on something that I despise everything about.

The combat is spongey and the story is the usual "amnesiac who needs to remember his place in the world and save the day"

So far I'm torn on the game, people saying it's long doesn't mean much. Deadlight was only two hours but the thing that killed it was that only 20 minutes of it was worth playing at full price.

This is my first full day devoted to it and so far I'm right in the middle, we'll see how it plays out.

I can say it's length is padded so far, a lot of poorly paced story bits at the start.

Sine Mora, 400pts off as the loser offer for the scratch and match. Think its worth it? I tried the game and enjoyed it but like the typical CAG I have a huge backlog. What do you think the chances are of it going on sale for less?

I'm going to second this. I also received a review copy, and this game is beyond phenomenal. I will go as far as saying this game is this generation's SoTN. I'm sure Sath would agree with me on that, as there are just so many identical qualities about this game comparing it to SoTN.

I'd love to go on about the game, but obviously I can't yet. I will say that I have played for 7 hours and am only 55% done (granted, I've been doing side-quests and not just the main quest, but you get the idea). This game is everything I had hoped it would be.

I have to disagree so far, I don't know where you're getting that from.

For me it's just poorly paced and the flash styled cartoon characters with no weight to their attacks just don't match up right.
How long is Dust: An Elysian Tail, approximately?
Main storyliine is 8-10hrs. Doing sidequests and looking for all hidden items will took you well over 15hrs. :)

Totally agree with you man! Love these Metroidvania style games. SoTN is one of my favourite games ever.

I really want to pick up one of those Amalur DLC's, does anyone know a place where you can buy low amounts of MSP (like 160msp card, etc) ?

/begin rant

It's really quite annoying that some people getting free review codes early are like
"This game is terrible! Don't buy it! It's not worth it!"

Then the next week, after another free review code and
"This game is fantastic! Buy it! It's totally worth it!"

It's nice to read differing opinions with pros and cons, which can be done objectively.
But shoving it down everybody's throat lacks a professional demeanor.

Bought Shuggy at 400MSP, 100%ed the single player in about 4&1/2-5 hours including breaks. I found 1 of the 116 boards challenging. The game is 3/10 on the difficulty scale. Its fun and theres about 10-15 different kinds of modifiers on the boards(press RT to spin the room, ect) and I feel they kept adding new modifiers and going from tutorial stages to easy to normal difficulty stages and repeating again with different modifier. Dont expect Super Meat Boy but more of a Mario level platformer with some great gimmicks, but its worth 200-400MSP. Its doubtful it'll hit 200 so if you want it at that price It'll probably be that much on Steam this winter.

I believe Amazon sells 400 and 800 point codes now.

Wish "From Ashes" would drop already. No way I'm paying 800 Microsoft points for a 20 minute mission that was already on the disk...
Alright, this is probably a dumb question, but how do you guys get free review codes?
Most probably work for or own video game websites.

You can buy 400 points straight from Microsoft for 4.99. Also I just noticed some other people have mentioned Amazon now sells 400 point codes.

Ya there's a billion video game websites, a lot of them focus on super niche aspect of games and I really enjoy some of the ones I know about, and developers seem pretty nice in providing a lot of them video game codes for review.

I agree so much. I must say eastx is good at this. He will just say things like "Might want to hold off on the enthusiasm, will have a review when it's out." Rather than this crap we're seeing with people bashing Dust without any context or actual review structure for anyone to form their own opinions.

As far as rollingskull goes, this site has an ignore function. If you're still reading his posts at this point, it's kind of your own fault.
