ZUNE and your X360 - ZUNE HD Now in 64GB - Latest Update Now Supports AVI/XviD

Well, that would suck.

But, looking on Walmart's site, it shows the regular 120GB at $50 less. At $30, it was nice. At $50, I think I'll pass.

Question for those who have both (30GB and 80GB/120GB): how much crisper are those extra colors, and how much more visible is the 120GB in light?

I really want to upgrade, but I'll be using the money from selling a phone and my 30 to get one.

I wonder if there is a "fix" to this situation: i usually have shuffle on and play All Artists. Now if a song pops up and suddenly I want to hear the next song from the album of the currently playing song played NEXT, can i slip it in there? If such a "play this song as next track" selection was possible, I'd be stoked.

There isn't a one step solution, but it can be done.

-Click the middle button
-Click Go to Artist
-Choose the Album
-Click the song you want to hear
-Choose +Add to play list

It will add the song without interrupting the shuffle list and won't stop the current song.

That sort of sounds like the "play next" button on MediaMonkey, which I love. Thanks for the tip.

I thought about that, but the only thing is since it's on shuffle mode, the song I add to my currently playing list more than likely won't get played next at all. And since it adds it to the end of the queue, turning off shuffle mode won't set the newly added track to be played next either.

I guess a work around might be to have an option to sort by track #, like how it sorts by name when you play all tracks. God I feel nit picky with shit like this.

It doesn't stop the shuffle and the song will get played...eventually. Depends on how many songs you add.

Now Playing: Guns 'n Roses - Sweet Child of Mine
Next song chosen by Shuffle: Jay-z - Girls, Girls, Girls
Manually add John Legend feat. Andre 3000 - Green Light

Resulting song list:
John Legend feat. Andre 3000 - Green Light
Jay-z - Girls, Girls, Girls

But if you add another song, like Guns 'N Roses - Paradise City, that would be at the top of the song list, then John Legend, then Jay-Z and whatever else the shuffle has chosen. So the first song you picked will get pushed down as you add another song that becomes the next song to be played.

OK, I bought a 120 and I'm returning it. It's great. It copies movies over in no time flat. But I need to sell my phone before I can think about this. And the GOW2 one is awesome.

Is there anywhere that has a zip file (or list) of all the things that originally came on the 30GB? I'm going to delete most of it off the device, but want to add it back on when I go to sell it. Thanks.

There's a way to return it to day one status . I will try to find the post I originally posted .

**Found it **
Did you try the total reset yet ? It will erase everything on your Zune [not a big deal it it's unusable]

Hold back , left and center simultaniously for 5-10 seconds .

I'm pretty sure it will restore all of the pictures , it might restore what little was on there .
I think all of the default stuff is part of the Zune software .

Anyone know a site where I can get some pimp artsy Zune wallpapers? I liked the ones that were included on the Zune but I would like some more.

Thanks, I finally understand! I was under the impression that adding a song to the list (while in Shuffle All mode) would put it at the end of the playlist. So mark one thing off my "wish my Zune did that" list!
Interesting. I may try it.

Had to delete everything because I had 7GB of reserved space. Screw that.
Let us know , for future reference .

I just did it, it didn't do anything. All the stuff I added back yesterday after a full erase is still there.

I picked up my official Zune car adapter , that I hid 2 weeks ago , for $19.98 today.
I was amazed when my Zune had an update for it , it had the --% complete and animation going on the screen , crazy .

I posted earlier that it had duplicate controls on it , well it doesn't , it has 'tune + & -' and 2 presets .

Anyway it's really nice , I recommend it to anyone looking for an RF adapter .
Not for $80 dollars but on Target clearance go for it .

Yeah, I'm going to use that towards a new head unit.

Here's an update on the Back/Left/Center combo: it's just a reset by itself. It doesn't erase anything.

Now, if you did the Back/Up, THEN did that combo, it does reset everything, including firmware. You have to then connect it back to the Zune software to restore the F/W.

It didn't restore the original content for me either.

I'm thinking of buying a Zune. I have enough credit at Gamestop to buy a 1st Gen White 30gb Zune. Is there anything wrong with buying a new 1st gen Zune?

Also I have heard there was some issues with the software is this still the case?

I still have my first gen Zune...one of the most solid media players out there. As for the software, the newest version that's out there...3.0 is the best there is...way way better than before and much better than the competition.

Yup. Along with the price, it's why I didn't keep my 120GB.

Another question:

I know the Zune has WiFi access but does that mean I can download the songs/shows that way as well? I have dial up internet at home so it would be difficult for me to download TV shows to put onto the Zune from my home computer.

With the WiFi access does that mean I can download songs/shows straight to the Zune that way or do I still have to go through the computer to do that? The reason I ask is that I have dial up internet at home and downloading anything with dial up is atrocious.

I guess I should have clarified my question better:
Am I able to download songs from the Zune Marketplace with Wi-Fi.

Also I was hearing something about tagging songs for future download if you hear them and you like them what does that mean? Does that mean if I'm listening to the radio on the Zune and I hear a song I like I can download it from the Marketplace if it is available?

Hey guys I just bought another 30gb zune for $50. I sold my first zune a couple months ago and with the new software I noticed that zune can play games now! My question is where can I download more?

EDIT: Also with my last zune I had trouble keeping it in good condition can someone recommend me a good screen protector or case that I can buy at a store or online? Thanks!

There is a Zune software update today , I'm downloading it now .
If I discover what is new and/or different I'll try to post about it .

Microsoft is releasing a minor update this morning to your Zune firmware and software. Zune 3.1 brings new games, a new Zune Social feature, and other software improvements.

Three new free games are Checkers, Sudoku, and Space Battle. These join Texas Hold’em and Hexic as games embedded in the Zune software. Texas Hold’em is also being updated in 3.1, with a new multiplayer mode and single player difficulty levels.

A new feature - “like-minded listeners” - is being added to Zune Social. This lets you compare your musical tastes with other listeners and friends. And, the look of Zune Social is being refreshed to simplify navigation.

In addition, Zune 3.1 includes overall stability and performance updates - both in Zune PC software and device firmware. Play count reporting and PC sync will be improved.

To update your firmware, connect your Zune to your PC, and go to Settings > Check for Updates.

The Space Battle game is decent for free. I beat the game on the first try, but then lost on the second stage of the harder difficulty that you unlock.

What I'm really hoping for are less random system resets. They're becoming more frequent.

Zune Pass revamped

There's just nothing like the holiday season, folks. That warm, fuzzy feeling you get when spending your last dollar on a gift for someone you aren't even that fond of -- really, what else can compare? On second thought, maybe this can. Microsoft has just announced that, beginning today, Zune Pass users will be able to select ten tracks per month to keep forever (and ever, and ever), and the $14.99 monthly subscription rate isn't headed up. Agreements have been miraculously nailed down between Microsoft and EMI Music, Sony BMG Music, Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group, not to mention a number of independent distributors. We must say, we certainly appreciate the gesture here, but is it enough to make fencesitters buy in? What say you?
Price drop! see engadget and search for zune. 4gig=99 all others got a 10 to 30 dollar price drop
Dude how hard is it to post a link . http://www.engadget.com/2008/11/18/microsoft-ratchets-down-pricing-on-flash-based-zunes/

The Zune Pass idea is pretty sweet. Be nice if they allowed people that have had a zune pass since they offered to get the songs from those months too. That wont happen though.

You could always cancel & re-start. I personally havent been able to use my Zune software, it crashes everytime a download gets to 100%

Awesome. Thanks for the info, Rich. I was considering getting my SO a Zune for Xmas. Now that Sudoku has been added I think we're a go!
Zune Pass revamped.
I didn't read the article, so I apologize if this is addressed within, but...

What format does it allow you to "keep" the tracks in? MP3? Or are they bound with Zune's DRM?

It's 240x320, so any wallpaper designed for the Tilt or 8525 will work.

Interfacelift has a whole category of 240x320 (sideways) and iphone (320x480). I've used both to good effect.

Dang.
Best Buy Canada is running a deal where if you buy a 16 GIG Zune, they give you a 4 GIG Zune for free.
I have an iPod Touch, but for some reason its incredibly tempting.
So my dad is looking into getting one. Where are the best deals these days? Anything like the $99 refurb deals many of us got in on?
I don't frequent this thread that often so if this has been posted sorry. I just bought a 30 gb limited edition pink zune at Toy-r-us for $85 so you might want to check out your local area. White was still $169 or $199 and the 8 gb pink was $149.99 so I think I got a good deal. I currently use a 30 gb zune that woot sold awhile back and like it alot and I am no where near fulling it up.

wow edited to add just checked fleabay and these sell for $150 to $180 new :)

I just picked up a 120G for my wife......can someone recommend some accesories that are vital and/or worth getting for it?

The Zune Home A/V kit is a must. I was kinda 'meh' on the Zune until I got that kit. You can hook it up to your stereo or your TV with it. No need to swap CDs in the stereo anymore. I'd call it a must buy accesory. It made all the difference in my enjoyment of the Zune.

Brrrrrrraaaaaaiiiiinnnnnsssss:drool::drool::drool:

I forgot to mention, the Home A/V kit has a power adapter with it so you can use it on the dock as much as you want without draining the battery. It can even charge it, too.

Nope, the new software still crashes on me. I've tried running in xp compatibility, turning off visual themes, running as administarator, nothing works.

It looks like it only happens when more than 1 item at a time is downloading, its controllable, but a pain in the ass when multiple podcasts try updating at the same time.
