Off-topic for gaming but questions for folks who know berkeley

La Burrita is voted "Best of Berkeley" by the student paper because it's the closest Mexican place to the dorms. That's it. It is not good. The Telegraph area does have a good hot dog place (Top Dog, right next to La Burrita), and a great Indian place called Naan N Curry. Also recommended, for...

From all gaming history, what are the best/worst controllers?

There are two kinds of people (in this thread): people who think the Atari 5200 had the worst controller ever, and people who have never ever used an Atari 5200 controller. My favorite is either the Saturn pad or the SNES pad.

Donkey Konga vs. Taiko Drum Master

Yeah, controller's the same. The third Japanese Taiko game has the Disneyland Main Street Electrical Parade music in it. No, really.

    --- Best Pen ---

Pilot G-2 is nice, yeah. Many stores have doodle pads in the pen aisles. Have you tried that?

    Nintendo 21 - Nintendos new system's name?

The NES/Famicom was not Nintendo's first home system, just the first with cartridges that could be switched. In the 1970s, they had TV Game 6, TV Game 15, Racing 112, Burokku-kuzushi ("Blockbuster"), and maybe more that I don't know of. They came preloaded with a few games, more often variants...

Baten Kaitos vs. Tales of Symphonia....which is better?

Didn't play Baten Kaitos, so I can't make a fair judgment. However, Tales was an absolute blast for me. Until Katamari Damacy came out, I really thought it was going to be my favorite game of the year. The real-time combat system in Tales is just so good. Although I have only seen videos of...

Know of any songs that mention historical figures in the lyrics?

"Pride" by U2 is about Martin Luther King Jr, although it doesn't mention him by name. "Magnificent Seven" by the Clash lists several -- Richard Nixon, Gandhi, Plato and Socrates, etc. "Waterloo" by ABBA references Napoleon. How loose is your definition of historical significance? "Empty...

[DEAD] Mr. Driller DS JPN version $29.90 (weekly deal at Play-Asia)

Yeah, I'd be ordering that if I didn't have it already. The Japanese version also has an additional single-player mode, Dristone Mode.

    Best NES Games, Obscura

Bump & Jump is the best obscure game still unmentioned on this thread. Also worth checking out are Recca, Burai Fighter, and Shatterhand. Already mentioned, but I will second Cobra Triangle, the Lolo games, Jackal, Zanac, Gun*Nac, and Guardian Legend. Lots of good games listed in this thread...

EA: We Never Bid for NBA Exclusivity

bmulligan, here you go. It's not hard to understand. You said it yourself: EA, like every other company, is in it to make money. The more money the better. Rather, the most profit, the better, and the higher EA's stock, the better. EA has a lot of name recognition, and plenty of gamers choose...

What's the coolest game title ever?

Donkey Kong. One of the earliest and best Japanese-guy-with-a-dictionary titles ("stubborn ape").

Which Zelda game do you think is more visually appealing?

I prefer less realistic styles generally, and Wind Waker did cel-shading so well. I would be hard-pressed to think of a single game, never mind a single other Zelda game, that has visuals I prefer over Wind Waker's. That said, the new Zelda looks fantastic for what it is. I wish other series...
