Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.

Almost all the Targets I visited today were barren of clearance games, save for a couple DS games (Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 - $14.98). Definitely a slow period right now.
 
Wow ... some people are a bit touchy in the target thread today ... seriously, it's one controller and if you want it so bad, go and find where he hid it ... but seriously, all this bitching about "evil people hiding things" would be null if 1. you get there before they can hide anything or 2. you search around and find their hiding place.

It's a fucking Target, not an ancient temple or subterranean dungeon ... there aren't that many places to hide things ... so get over it people.
 
Found some tetris game on clearance but didn't take note of the price. SWCW: Republic Heroes is still holding at $15. :(

Other than that, I noticed nothing of note.

The clearance sets appear to be wireless. I say that because the picture on the back doesn't show wires yet it doesn't say whether or not it had wires. The closest Wal-mart to me is 20-30 minutes depending on traffic. Are people still finding Walmart sets at $10?

This was a little while ago that they both had the sets for 8$. It's very easy to tell if it's wireless or not. If the box says Rockband 2 Drum Set then they are wireless I found the same ones at my weekly target runs today and I beleive they were the wired ones. I have not seen a set of the 8$ ones in a while but at the same time I stopped looking when I picked up 2 then a week later scored a 50$ Band Hero kit but anyways 20$ is still a good price if you can't find the cheaper ones. If you really want wireless I know the local gamestop has been selling used ones for about 40-50$ but not all of them have them. Hope this helps

The funny thing is, it's as though people assume I'm in the same town as they are, & am preventing them from finding or buying a clearance item. I know there are other CAG's in my area, but I'm not Superman & everywhere @ once! ;)
 
Between this and the KMart thread its horrible with the people calling people out on the internet. He really want's a controller he can't afford it so he hid it. More than likely it won't even be there on friday soeone will have found it and either purchased it or moved it back over to clearance. Maybe he will buy it. Great better than the local Trade N Play (The local non gamestop used video game store around here. Just using as an example) going in and buying everything on clearance to mark up for more than double in his store. This happens I know the guy from my local store he's like the ebay snipers it's crazy I wake up every monday get to target about 9 and usually wait for the clearance cart to come around and see if any new items were dropped. I get what I want and sometimes I have picked up a second copy for a friend. Now this guy starts off at the Target farthest away from my area and go in cleans house and moves on I see him every monday we always pass each other. Now that's the guy who you should punch not some poor sap that has so little money he's at home praying someone won't find his 10$ controller.

How long do you think it'd take to search an entire Target, and for 1 controller?

The problem here is not that he hid the shit so he could come back and buy it - the problem is that someone else has the money to buy and, and would have if they could find it.

Remember that Target are the good guys here, for having these clearance deals - why would any TRUE CAG want to cock-block Target's sales?
 
A whole lot of PS2 and DS titles added today to clearance today, it appears -- mostly shovelware, though. The only thing that I saw that was particularly interesting among them was :ps2: Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories for . . . um, $20.98 I think. Definitely still too high for it, but hopefully it will survive another drop or two.

Picked up :psp: Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII for $13.98. I didn't like buying it at only 30% off, but there were only two copies so I didn't feel like risking it. Maybe I'll keep it unopened for a little while so that if it does survive another drop at a local store I can return it. Will probably be a while until I get around to playing it anyway.

Other than that, not much else exciting.

Not only are you hurting their business (which I'm sure most don't care about), you are potentially putting yourself in an embarrassing situation. If anyone who works loss prevention sees you sneaking around the store and hiding stuff, they will likely kick you out of the store and tell you not to come back.

I did also see 2 Nintendo DS Lite Metal carrying case bundles w/ the headset & other acessories for $8.44. Not a bad price on that either. They had a silver & black one left. Oh & no worries...I didn't ZOMG HOARDZ THEMZ!1!!11
 
Over the weekend one of the Richmond Targets reduced the price on about 60 copies of High School the Musical 3 DS. They were not clearanced though. I shit you not. They were all on the end cap, and it was the funniest damn thing I have ever seen. If I can get my wife's camera phone over there I'll snap a pic and post it.
 
I remember for the longest time at my Target we had a kajillion copies of Hitman 2 for 20 bucks. Even when it was clearanced to 4.98, there was a healthy amount leftover sitting on the clearance endcaps.

There used to be 60 copies ... now they are hidden all over the store ... I hide most of them in the women's changing area and the toothbrush and mouthwash aisle ... thus far my fellow gamers have never found these stashes ...

Well pals I was right. My gf had to return something to Target and I checked out the clearance end and wouldnt you know it, both controllers gone.
 
My local Targets havent had anything at all hardly as far as games are considered.... hav picked up lots of other good deals lately ...like tonight got a Turtle-Wax claybar & car detailing kit for something like $8 range down from bout $20

Think my Targets are just really behind since x-mas ...cause everyone else has already found or passed on like $50 band hero bundles and such ..... here they still havent been placed on clearance

I bought Singstar Queen for the ps3 for $5.04. I think it was one of those very rare instances where they mark it down past 75%. The original price was $39.99, so that's a pretty good deal I guess. I also bought Guitar Hero 5 for 12.48 for a friend. They had like 10 Rockband Legos for 12.48 and Tekken 6 and Resident evil 5 were sitting there for so long that now they ring up "item not found."
 
Yeah I noticed something strange @ Target the other day. I don't know if the scanner was crapping out or what, but @ first when scanning an item it would show Item Not Found, but then like a few seconds later it would display the price. Although in general, yes I have seen a few strategy guides before that rang up item not found.

Angry? Just irritated when you come here for deals and some one is bragging how they are keeping deals from others is all. If you really want to know where I have been there is a search bar if you wish to use it.

Not even so irritated but more curious as to why someone would post how they hid something. But I just get shit talk in reply so I will stay out and look for deals elsewhere I suppose.

This. Anyone who has been here for more than a month or so should know by now that posting about certain behaviors -- stashing, hoarding, return fraud, etc. -- no matter how personally justified they may feel in doing it -- is going to set people on here off. Are people overreacting to you stashing a single controller? Yeah, probably. Should you have known better then to post about stashing something in the first place? Yes, definitely. If you're going to do certain things, it's best to keep them to yourself.

Exactly. I've always thought this when I see someone mention something about hoarding, a bunch of people get annoyed, and then the hoarder is amazed people jump on him. If you're been a member of CAG for more than a week, you would probably have already figured out that most people don't like it, so don't mention you did it.
 
I'm curious, but how is hiding something that you're going to buy considered hoarding or preventing Target from making a sale?

I could understand it if he hid it and never went back for it. But not when he plans on buying it a few days later. Then it just seems like people are bitching cause they see the smallest opportunity to bitch.

For one, it's stopping them for selling it at the price it is at. The whole point of hiding something is that you can come back to buy it when the price has dropped further. The whole reason anyone is doing it is because they assume someone else will buy it before it drops that low. Also, if the person does not come back to claim it, it could cause a shrinkage issue for the store when they do inventory, and they don't catch it behind a stack of toilet paper or something.

The reason that strategy guides rang up this way is because there are multiple barcodes on the back. You have to cover all but the US barcode for it to scan correctly.

But he hid it because he didn't have the money at the time to buy it, not because he wanted the price to drop on it.

I know the whole hiding in general (I'm against hiding things for price drops and hoarding), but I'm just referring to this specific case that everyone was ranting about.

If you don't have money to buy it, let someone else buy it. He could have every intention of buying it. But what if he doesnt? What if he gets hit by a truck? Buying it and intending to buy it are two different things.

Nothing but shovelware in the 4 targets I visited in NoVA. Though I did see non-game items: 1 Black Nokia N97 clearanced at $420 and some Asus phone for ~$400 as well.

Seriously, though - a lot of people need to grow up. YES, this is CAG, and I understand the idea is to be "cheap". Hiding and hoarding items is not cheap behavior, however, it's SELFISH. Nevermind the fact that you only have less than $10 in your pocket - you feel you're still entitled to that item simply because you walked through target's doors? Anyone who's an adult here should agree that type of behavior is childish - posting and bragging on it is more childish.
 
Found Sonic's Genesis Collection for XBOX 360 clearanced for 13.98.....only 30% off but a good enough deal for me to take. If I see it more off later on I'll buy and return the first one.

Also found Street Fighter IV PC for 5.04, 87.5% off!
