Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

The Legend of EL HOARDO as told by Strell
No cankle too big and no score too small,
The one and only EL HOARDO.

He'll steal your stash - gonna take it all,
That's the one - EL HOARDO.

He's gonna run down all the aisles
and snatch up all the loot,
And he's feeling really confident
in his nipple protection suit!

Awesome sideburns and a dapper mask
He's at your local store,
Gonna clean out everything
And then go back for more!

Who's the guy in the Star Trek shades?
He's the man they call EL HOARDO.

His boots are secretly roller blades,
There he goes! EL HOARDO!

He's got a cape and it's totally sweet,
A flash in red and white,
Calls his fanny pack his utility belt,
He's ready for a discount fight!

You'd never think he could run so fast,
With a gut of giant size,
Asks all the ladies if they'd like a ride
On his Starship Enterprise!

What's that sound comin' down the lane?
It can only be EL HOARDO.

His stubby legs are gonna bring the pain,
Brace yourselves - EL HOARDO!

He packs a sword, it's a replica,
Like Zorro in disguise,
Gonna leave an H scratched on the wall,
Then he'll move those ten ton thighs!

Knows all the price drops all the time,
Has inhalers to survive,
Lives in a basement at his parents house,
At the age of thirty five!

That's the one who got your penny guide,
The stallion called EL HOARDO.

He's got his Rascal parked outside,
That Man-of-Men EL HOARDO.

EL HOOOOOOOARDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

ElHoardo1.jpg

"You just got...EL HOARDO'D!" __________________

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.
Target clearance isn't what it once was. I don't know if its because there are more people going after the games or if target changed their polices
They're just in a lull. It'll swing back soon to make room for a new batch of games.

Here's what I saw at Clearance today, in Denton texas.

Rock Band Unplugged - 20.98.

..........That's it. That is the ONLY clearance item I saw. No repackaged condoms, no shovelware Wii games, no seasons of Two and a Half Men....none.

Three copies of MUA2 for $9 and two copies of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 for $40 at the Sturgeon Bay Target. Usual Wii crap for everything else.

Snagged a :360: Tiger Woods 10 for $15 today. Not bad. Not much else to speak of, except those backup batteries for the iPhone for $20, which I'll totally get for my 3GS if it drops one more time. Fortunately they had a crap-ton of them, so I'm thinking they'll last two more weeks.
Exactly. It swings back and forth. You say it's bad now, but a whole bunch of stuff will show up on period, and we'll all be falling over each other again.
There's definitely an ebb and flow to things, but the overall trend is likely to be down for the forseeable future. Why? Because of the economy being in the dumper. Companies are less likely to produce large surpluses of goods, including games. They're going to be more conservative. We probably saw so many amazing bargains in 2009 because production was still high while demand dipped sharply. By now they've probably started adjusting production.

An intriguing idea. Either way, 2009 was GREAT for me. I have a backlog of about 20 XBOX 360 games and 8 PS3 games and 10 PSP games from Target clearances last year.

The economy went in the shitter in fall 2008. Your theory would make sense if there weren't huge surpluses in middle of 2009 but we were still getting great deals up until Thanksgiving. Surely, our manufacturing processes aren't so fucked up that it takes 9 months to ramp down production.

This is just Target being Target. No need to read any more into it.

Indeed. The economy has blown for quite some time, and we've still been getting great clearance deals. I mean, how many times have you walked into your Target or Sears and seen stacks of old sports titles or band games? I know I have seen plenty of them. Companies are still pumping out large quantities of their games.

The economy went to the shitter in late '08 but video game sales weren't impacted much for a while, iirc. So its likely Target over-ordering video games, hoping they would make up profit that may be lost in other departments due to bad economy.

Exactly. I'm not saying I'm 100% right, but it amazes me when folks think that huge national trends have no impact on things like this.

It wasn't until the latest economic reports (last 3 months or so) that we saw the video game industry hit a slump. Up until then, if you all recall, game retailers like GS were still posting huge gains and being declared "recession proof". So yeah, I'd say there was a combination of the delay in adjusting production numbers plus a delay in how long it took for the game industry to catch up with the rest of the economy.

I'm not predicting gloom and doom and "no more deals". Just offering a suggestion as to why we may be a little drier than last year. Plus, with digital distribution gaining momentum, even less physical games will be produced, which means less media for the clearance rack.

So far my local stores have been pretty poor as well on VG clearance.

I did pick up Syphon Filter: the omega strain for PS2 ($6.98). I haven't played a Syphon Filter game since the first PS1 game and that was pretty fun. Hopefully this'll be fun as well.

I have seen alot of non-VG clearance items I'd like to get but those items just don't hang around very long for the good price drops.

I would bet that a large company like target is putting in contacts to purchase product 3-6 months in advance of release in many cases (negotiating lower prices when buying in huge lots etc.). Add a 4-6 months shelf life for a game and you have a 7-12 month lag. It does not surprise me that we were seeing remnants of over buying through all of 2009.
Picked up MUA 2 :ps3: for $9.xx. Not sure if I'm going to keep it though since I want the :360: version.
Same here, I bought MUA 2 for ps3 for $9.98 today, but I'd rather have the 360 version.

I also bought the excitebot bundle with wii wheel for $12.98.

They also had 360 rockband drums for $14.98 and Tiger Woods 10 for the 360 for $14.98

Wow. I wish my locals had MUA2 at that price. I'm bummed.

I'm not saying the economy overall has nothing to do with game sales. Clearly games are discretionary spending.

What I'm saying is that just because it's a slow week for Target drops doesn't mean we won't have a shitload of games next week.

Buying is an art and a science. The economy could be in the shitter but if the buyer at Target is retarded, we'll still have a surplus of Tony Hawk Ride dropping like a stone.

Long and short of it is I'm not concerned.

Digital distribution is a whole other argument.

I did pick up Syphon Filter: the omega strain for PS2 ($6.98). I haven't played a Syphon Filter game since the first PS1 game and that was pretty fun. Hopefully this'll be fun as well.
I too am a big fan of syphon filter however omega strain wasn't as good as the ps1 games and i doubt online is even up any more. for thats price y not give it a shot. If you want the best syphon filter games any of the psp games were great ! probably the best in the series.

Agreed. :) If a moron is doing the ordering, it doesn't matter what the national trends are.

As for the rest, I'm not offering this based on a bad week at Target. I don't know about you, but my area was regularly swimming in deep clearance games (50-100 titles regularly on the endcap, often 75% off), and I've seen between 0 and 20 at any one time for the past few months. That's a definite change for me. Maybe that's atypical. Regardless, I'm offering a prediction for the coming year. I'm not "worried" either, since as you said this is all discretionary. It's more like...discussing the hobby. ;)
Was it packaged with Tiger Woods 10?
No he's got the 18 pack on clearance, you know he stops after 18 holes.
When you're finished, what are you going to do with the other 35?

j/k ;)
Animal Balloons at a kids party!

If anyone happens to stop by Target and sees a Tiger Woods 10 for Xbox 360 :360: , can you pick it up for me? We can discuss a fair price and I can provide you with a prepaid USPS shipping label.

Thanks,
bigdogn12

It's a damn shame that Omega Strain didn't take off, because the online was really fun. My friends and I used to play online all the time, especially the Tokyo level.

Thanks for the info.

I don't have a PSP, but I remember some of PSP games were ported to the PS2. I'll try and track down some of those versions
I saw one copy of PS3 Saboteur for $27.98 at San Mateo, CA.
Ditto for Westbury Long Island NY in the glass case

Didn't see any price drops in my town, Lego Rock Band and Prototype (both PS3) are $27.96

However Spore Hero (Wii) dropped to $14.97

and they had 2 copies of Guitar Hero: Van Halen (PS3) for $14.97

nothing for XBOX 360 though :/

Back on topic.......Saw fight night rd 4 last week at a target..several copies for the 360 for 29.98 and went back yesterday for a possible drop and all were gone or they were moved to the back.
lol, what can you make with them besides snakes and worms?
My kids school hired a pretty awesome clown. He was able to make pirate hats, swords, unicorns, dogs, cats, etc with those balloons.

Is it me or is there something unsettling about having a clown go into a school to make balloon pirate hats out of condoms for children?

It's far more unsettling that a company would make condoms specifically for children. Who are the ad wizards who came up with that one?

I picked up Tiger Woods 10 for $14.98 on 360 yesterday, I now have all the 360 versions from 06-10 and 9 is still sealed, I'm not entirely sure why I felt the need to buy 10, but I did.

Not much else at my local, few copies of some crappy Wii games, no other PS3 or 360 games on clearance.

Nice surprise today in one of my Targets... Picked up a Bass Pro fishing game with the rod controller off the shelf. It was red stickered $55.98... Scanned at $19.99. Figured for that price, it'd be a fun diversion from the stuff I'm playing right now...

Dumb question. Does anybody know once something has been red stickered clearance, does the price drop automaticly every monday? or does an employee have to drop the game's price again themself?
I've seen this where like above something had their first price drop and tagging, and then its scanned cheeper without a new tag?

Thanks (don't flame me)
Neil

Drops definitely are not automatic every Monday.

At stores near me, if a drop does happen, the "scan team" has to do whatever they do for the lower price to show up. For example, a game could scan at $30 at 1 p.m. and $15 at 1:05 p.m. after the employee processes the markdowns.

Others have reported that drops are automatic for them, though, so it's YMMV.

I have seen markdowns where the tag doesn't reflect the lower price. I know it can happen when returns are put back on the floor and nobody changes the tags. I've noticed that several times with clearance games I've returned after finding them cheaper.

Oh my. Didn't mean "those balloon" as in the condoms, just the balloon clowns use. Arggh, bad mistake.

I've been to like 5 target's around me and they always have the same crap at $19.99 and occasionally a game will go down to $13.99 but that is rare as fuck.

They can scan in a drop without actually having the physical item, its just easier for them if they scan the actual item because then they dont have to manually type everything in.

A dog that's been in some sort of accident.

I found a Logitech LX6 Cordless mouse for $12.48 ... using it right now. It's sweet! Unfortunately, my Targets were cleaned out of the HP portable 300GB HDs.

Got SW:Republic Heroes for PC for 7.48. I know, I know it sucks, but I can play it coop with my 8 year old cousin and he'll love it and I can achievement whore myself.

Just got fable II from target for 13.xx however what makes this hot is, yes it was the platinum edition with the extra dlc. I had to scan it twice to make sure. Obviously they havent changed the SKU for the new version. Thought I'd give folks a heads up as I was looking for just the regular edition and lucked up. Id say YMMV as always but this was in the place the regular fable II's were.

Excellent find monkey :) We'll need a bit of luck to get this. The majority of Targets here in Houston have them behind glass; I'll have to ask them to scan it for me. Thanks for the heads up.
