GS FAQ

How many copies of a game can I trade in?
You are allowed to trade in 4 copies of the same game (same system) within a rolling 30 day period.

What do I need to trade in an older console?
The console, power cable, av cable, and controller. Sometimes they don't care about USB charge cable but ymmv. 3DS XL trade would be console, charger, and stylus. Some have reported being charged a refurb fee for missing the stylus, but again ymmv (answer stolen from anarchyburger)

FAQ will be entered when those questions get asked frequently.

Does the Pro Membership B2G1 coupon apply to only games, or accessories as well?
The coupon applies to both games and accessories, per the wording on the coupon.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free. Typically refers to the coupon you receive when becoming Pro.
GCU/BB: Gamer’s Club Unlocked, Best Buy
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

if the 4 for 10 is still active you can get i guess 2 copies of black ops and 2 copies of black ops 2 and trade 1 and 2 as the black ops combo for $13.20 if you are elite. If you do it twice you get 26.40

Employees will ring the games separately

Do the survey as normal. You can submit it without putting your info in. Granted, if you do this way the district manager can’t contact you for further details or a resolution.
Thank you for sharing. Just curious, what would be a typical response/resolution from a district manager be for a very poor associate experience? "We have warned the employee and hope you come back?"

I gave them a very bad survey once and ended up with a $10 credit. My account was flagged

so they knew I had the credit when they scanned my card.

Picked up a few games in the 4 for $10. With elite pro the price was $8, unfortunately there wasn't many games I wanted so I only got 1 set.

This is why no one shares flips anymore.
Alright I will share a flip.

Pre ordered the red dead ps4 pro bundle in store today without issues. My hunt for a quieter pro is hopefully coming to a close.
Assuming the Spidey PS4 Pro has the same internals, I wouldn’t expect much. It gets as loud as my OG 360. Don’t know how Microsoft did it with the One X.

The PS4 Pro that comes from the Red Dead Redemption 2 Bundle is a new revision, the CUH72XX. The 72XX model is supposedly twice less noisy (3 decibels less) than 70XX under max load (160-170W).

The previous Bundles are part of the last revision.

I have a NEW SEALED PS4 PRO from launch day back in 2016 with the first firmware released 3.7

I ordered a RDR2 bundle dont really care much for the game but considering grabbing Spidey.

Wanted a new unit but need to confirm if this is the best choice (I can wait not in a rush)

Or will their be another limiited edition that is gonna be worth more in the long run??

That is awesome if true! Hopefully it fixes the coil whine that was apparently an issue with the 71xx models.

Got a call today saying my PS4 Vantage controller came in. I forgot all about preordering it. Still debating if I’m gonna pick it up tomorrow. Anyone get one? Thoughts and opinions?

Kingdom Hearts III Limited Edition PS4 Pro. Have talked to two stores. One is taking down people's numbers, the other is just having people put $50 down on the game and then transferring it to the Pro system when theythr employee get word. Could be limited in how many they get per store, but hopefully that isn't the case. I think it's gonna be a big one, since it's been over a decade since the last console (non spinoff) game and I don't doubt they are really gonna market this game ridiculously (it's the only "Disney" game I can really think of).

My Spidey Pro sounds ridiculously more quiet than my launch Pro did. Games like Monster Hunter World made my original one so loud that I had to turn up my TV volume, and if I had my door shut/cracked it would actually heat up my room over time.

My Spidey one sounds damn near quiet on almost everything, and the baseline/top noise level during graphically intense games sounds pretty much like the equivalent of my old one just sitting on the Home screen or playing a super low graphic game.

Will GameStop take defective controllers in? If so what’s the refurb dee? Switch pro controller FWIW
I have traded in some messed up controllers(usually junk DS3s I find at goodwill) with like chunks missing and rubber gone from the sticks and they have always been just $3 refurb fees

The One X is liquid cooled. That helps with heat, but not sure about the disc drive.

Spidey Pro is pretty quiet. My launch Pro sounds like a space shuttle taking off for about 30 minutes when you boot up any graphically intensive game. God of War, Detroit, and Spider-Man have all made my launch Pro sound like it is going to take off from my entertainment center.

Don’t know if anybody buys PC games but I managed to get Starcraft 2

Truly want to bite on the red dead bundle. Hope GameStop offer a decent trade in for the original Xbox one
You missed out on the National Video Game Day Trade In Promo plus the extra $50 Trade In Credit for Consoles coupon.

Probably the best promotion for OG X1 this year

I was told some stores were getting the 1up arcade machines this week and I got an email stating that they are available now online. So I would go to you closest store and see if they got any or see if anyone nearby got them

Best Buy killed GCU and Amazon slowly murdered the Prime discount, so GameStop had no reason to keep it. Employees claim it was losing money (pretty likely), so it's dead.
I assume only people like us who use it a lot was buying elite and the masses were just confused by it. So elite wasn't assisted by a bunch of people buying it and rarely using like with a pro membership. So with all of us getting 20% off and 20% extra trade and using it all the time likely made it not profitable and just muddled the message for the everyday GameStop shopper.
