Hmm I never remember any part of Magna Carta 2 being that difficult. I do remember that I did have to redo Battle of Dunan Hill twice though since as you said the healers weren't building enough Kan to heal properly

I bought Chaos Rings for $6!

it's on sale finally!!

I hope it keeps me from getting bored during family holiday stuff lol

Thanks. Picked it up right now. I only would have picked it up when it goes on sale.
Got Demons Soul's for X-Mas. I'm not sure how to feel considering this games hardcore reputation.
Just sit back and enjoy the (white knuckle) ride. Easily my favorite PS3 game, and possibly the best game of this generation imho.
Final Fantasy IV Complete Collection for the PSP looks sweet. I've never beat the game so this should be a treat.
So does anyone have any opinions on why FFVI hasn't gotten anywhere near the same remake love as some of the other games in the series, particularly FFIV? You'd think it would be only logical for them to be trying to milk the most critically acclaimed game in the franchise like they do with some of the others..

I'm curious if it's just a matter of when rather than if, or if they honestly just want to remake FFIV (a game I love, btw) until the end of time without going back and re-doing FFVI. I really hope it's next on their agenda, though I haven't heard any rumors that it is..

What would they do to FFVI, exactly? They already did a great GBA port with improved translations, I'm not sure if I want anything else.

The game looks great as it is. If they want to do a touch up on a handheld, by all means. But full out remakes are a waste IMO.

I think they're going down the list when it comes to FF remakes, kinda like what they did with the PS1 ports. They haven't gotten to FFV yet either so I would assume a remake of that before FFVI anyways. But I believe a remake of sorts is highly likely and just a matter of time.

I'll be playing Demons Souls with a friend. Is the multiplayer any good?

That's all I'm talking about really. I don't want them to do a full remake either, but I'm sure they could do it justice with touched up graphics, etc on the PSP or something.

More than whether they should I'm mostly just curious why they haven't, given their love of re-releasing their own games.

Have fun! Don't be mad at the game, just be mad that you didn't watch the red blood markers!

I got a PSP, but I want my RPGs on my PS3.

It's... different. It's all random (though I'm pretty sure I remember people finding ways to get a better chance of playing with specific people). If you are in soul form, you can team up with another player (who is in body form) for co-op. If you are in body form, you run the risk of getting "invaded" by another player, who will try to hunt you down.

http://demonssouls.wikia.com/wiki/Online_Multiplayer

Honestly, I played in soul form the entire time (didn't want to worry about red phantom invaders) and never did any co-op, so I can't really elaborate on the experience.
I'll be playing Demons Souls with a friend. Is the multiplayer any good?
It is a TOTALLY different experience playing by yourself vs co-op (I've done both). I can't recommend strongly enough playing through it once by yourself instead of with a friend. Go back and do new game +, ++, etc with a friend, but at least do the first one by yourself (or with random blue phantoms at least instead of with someone you can talk to). The game was specifically designed for that feeling of isloation, which is why there's no easy way to hook up with specific people in game and no in game chat.

I'm on the last boss with Aqua in Kingdom Hearts: BBS. I've already finished Ventus and Terra, so once I'm done with her I just have the "final chapter" then can consider it all wrapped up.

I've had to dial down the difficulty on Tales of Vesperia to fight some of the bosses. Some of them are real bitches. What is grade anyway? Is some achievement tied to getting a high grade? Seems like just mashing buttons gets you through most of the battles just fine.

Just started my game of Demons Souls and got my ass kicked. It's good, I see what you mean about being isolated. Is there any class that's better than the others? I picked a magician.
Does anyone here know if the discs for Growlanser Generations has a purplish tinge or is that from something else?
Many earlier PS2 games have that. It's what an earlier generation DVDs look like.

Grade is used for NG+ stuff which has been in nearly every PS2 era or later Tales games and it is gained for doing better in battle (Various factors like speed, damage dealt/taken, etc). If you don't care about NG+, then don't worry about it. It can be farmed relatively easy late/post game.

Hey all, I'm stuck in FL thanks to the blizzard, but on the plus side, I'm stuck in FL!

Another plus side: it's given me time to wrap up Victory Road in Pokemon Platinum. At the endgame, but I might need to beef up my team a tiny bit more.
Many earlier PS2 games have that. It's what an earlier generation DVDs look like.
Actually what your describing is a CD-ROM, the PS2 had games on both CDs and DVDs, any blue bottom disc is a CD and silver bottom ones are DVDs.

Okay so that's normal then. Thanks for the information. I thought it was resurfaced or something.

You're stuck in Florida and you're playing Pokemon? Well, there's really not much to do down here anyways. It's not as cold as NY but it's still too cold to enjoy the beach.

Correct. Most of the earlier games used plain ol' CDs. But I guess once games started getting more complex they required the DVDs.

Finished Final Fantasy XIII tonight and I'm satisfied with the ending. Ending cut scene was top notch and a graphical achievement. Now, my monstrous backlog awaits.

I beat one of the stories in Chaos Rings.

I highly recommend this game. If you like squaresoft games psx era when they were at their high point, get this game.

if you like jrpgs, and have an iphone and $6, get this game.

does anyone remember the controller they released for psx for RPGs? It was a one handed controller. Normally I am not the biggest fan of iphone games, but the control scheme in Chaos Rings allows you to play the game holding your phone in one hand and I love it!!!!

I was playing the game while watching a movie at the same time!! Not a porno movie btw, but if it was then it'd be cool coz then Id have a free hand to hold my dick.

the overall story is quite interesting (somewhat TWEWY like) and is told quite well. The characters are pretty cool I guess, and I still got 3/4 of the game to go thru (which I believe is basically the same story but from a new perspective)

Not really. All classes ultimately end up being the same. Royal is nice to start with due to the ranged attack.

The DS wiki or the thread here on CAG is good to read before playing to avoid/mitigate frustration.

I've been stuck in FL for 20 years! It gets old real quick.

So I beat Aqua's story in KH: BBS last night. Unlocked the Final Chapter. Going to knock that out tonight.
This thing? I have no idea if it was good or not.

I think JEKKI's talking about this:

Most RPGs could be played left-handed with a standard dual shock IF the developers would consider it. You just need to put the two most important buttons on L1 and L2, but unfortunately this doesn't happen often. It's always bothered me too, because L1 and L2 are often unused, it would be super easy to have them just be alternate 'confirm' and 'cancel' buttons.

I actually played all of KOTOR2: The Sith Lords and Shadow Hearts: Covenant one handed using a standard PS2 and Xbox controller.
(I was home with my newborn and she slept alot so I'd hold her in one arm and play with the other. I also got down one handed bottle feeding)
Actually what your describing is a CD-ROM, the PS2 had games on both CDs and DVDs, any blue bottom disc is a CD and silver bottom ones are DVDs.
I must be getting old. ~_~

That PS1 RPG ASCII controller is okay. I had one for the longest time but barely used it. It only works on certain RPGs, mainly ones that don't require you to use the shoulder buttons to rotate the camera. It's perfect for something basic like Suikoden.

Yeah. I grew up here and my parents live in the suburbs, so I already knew there wouldn't be much to do, and it doesn't help that it's been colder than usual this Christmas. The husband and I went to the movies today, but other than that, we've been at my parents' house and calling the airline every so often (and now it looks like we'll be stuck here awhile yet).

I got out after 15 or thereabouts :) Miss the weather, and my family of course, but little else.
^ I know I'm being an ignorant hater by saying this but Disgaea 4 still looks like a PS2 game.
Well, as long as you know, that makes it all right... I guess.

Are you hatin' on the 'burbs? Easy parking/no traffic. I hate driving and parking in the city. Mpls. has a winter parking ban. I addition to that, they never plow the damn streets.

Re:Coded should be decent, I though 358/2 days was alright, this one seems better then that so I'll probably be getting it fairly shortly after release.

358/2 Days was garbage. Horrible controls, like 2 levels used again and again, horrible missions like "run around the area randomly until an investigation icon pops up"...what a disappointment.

QFT. Still don't know how I got through to the end, ugh.
Wonder if I'm gonna get enough skill points in Magna Carta 2 for the achievements.
If you don't spend ANY you will. You will have to fully max out a path, then reload and put it into the other.

You will need to be around level 55-60 if I remember right. That does involve flipping out your weapon attatchments to boost your skill points as you level up. (moving it between characters about to level).

Otherwise you will be closer to 70.

Yeah, I didn't know about the Seeker or Pendant of Skill until after 36-38 ish.

Looks like it should be around 60, if I pick up the skill item in Belfort in a little while I should be able to. :)
