Didn't pick up comics last week, so now I got a pretty big pull list (yay?)!

BLACKEST NIGHT #4 (OF 8)

BLACKEST NIGHT TITANS #3 (OF 3)

DETECTIVE COMICS #858GOTHAM CITY SIRENS #5

GREEN LANTERN #47 (BLACKEST NIGHT)

SUPERMAN SECRET ORIGIN #2 (OF 6)

INVINCIBLE PRESENTS ATOM EVE & REX SPLODE #1 (OF 3)

I Wish majority of stuff wasn't $3.99 though...
I wish that was a large pull list for me.
marvels been kickin some ass with their comics. the latest hulk was hilarious.
I'm actually not a fan of the current Hulk stories. The Red Hulk story has been dragging for a while now, I cut it from my pull list. And it's a little confusing because there's 3 Hulk titles (Hulk, Incred Hulk, & Son of Hulk) yet none of them have the orginal Banner Hulk. I also don't like that they made him dumb Hulk again instead of the cool Hulk from Planet Hulk. But I figure I'll keep up with one of them so Incred Hulk is currently the only one on my pull list. The last issue wasn't too bad, Skaar vs Juggs.

Picked up the first couple issues of Batman & Robin. Haven't read it yet but it's my first step into the world of DC.

This week's pull:

Batman #692
Blackest Night #4
Blackest Night: Titans #3
Detective Comics #858
Gotham City Sirens #5
Green Lantern #47
Justice Society of America #32
Superman #693
Superman: Secret Origin #2
Teen Titans #76
Wonder Woman #37
World's Finest #1
Fantastic Four #572
Ms. Marvel #46
New Avengers #58
New Mutants #6
Necrosha
X-Force #20

Yeesh...

Damn Rei, spendin' the big bucks this week. Hickman's run on Fantasic Four has been pretty damn good so far. I like the whole "Council of Reed Richard's." I just hope they dont half-ass it like Millar did on his run.

I'm thinking of dropping Teen Titans and Wonder Woman. I only started reading WW again because Black Canary was in it for two issues, and TT's new arc isn't doing anything for me.

Picked up my stuff from last week this past Saturday since local comic store had a sale. Normal books on my pull list were norm with discount but anything else I pulled from racks was 30% off so not too bad. Here's what I had in my box:
- Blackest Night Batman #3 (Week before they were bent so didn't get then)
- Blackest Night Superman #3
- Invincible #67
- Amazing Spider-Man #609
- The Invincible IronMan #19 (Definitely loving the direction they're going with this series right now)
- Incredible Hulk #603
- Spider-Woman #2 (Just really like the art, story is okay so far)
- Archie #602

Off the racks I picked up some other things I missed previously:
- Gotham City Sirens #4
- Power Girl #4 & 5 (Slowly catching up)
- Haunt (Heard Kirkman was writing it so I decided to give this one a read, pretty good so far. I'll keep with series for awhile)

Now for the week of 10/28, here's what I'll be picking up:
- Arkham Reborn #1 (Just curious about it)
- Batman #692
- Blackest Night #4
- Blackest Night Titans #3
- Detective Comics #858
- Gotham Sirens #5
- Green Lantern #47
- Teen Titans #76
- Invincible presents Atom Eve & Rex Splode #1
- Fantastic Four #572
- Hulk #16
- Ultimate Comics Avengers #3
- X-Force #20

Ugh...too many, I need to figure out what to drop. Maybe Fantastic Four after current arc. I've been thinking about dropping Hulk too since I don't care much for Loeb but the She-Rulk is somewhat intriguing despite how stupid it sounds in the overall. Kind of want to drop Detective Comics due to price but the art makes up for it I suppose.
I wish that was a large pull list for me.
I Slowed down alot. I Used to have 10-15 comics pulled each week until I realized many weren't worth it (Countdown and alot of X titles that weren't be Whedon come to mind) and majority of comics raising their prices each year doesn't help.

Though I'll probably get World's Finest added to my list. Oh and I gotta say I'm enjoying Gotham City Sirens, but goddamn issue three guest written by Scott Lobdell was more fun then I expected (the whole Riddler sizing up Dick Grayson as Batman dialogue was great).

Well, I've decided to drop several titles from my regular pull list. Titles that I will drop as follows:

Action Comics, Superman, Secret Warriors, Thunderbolts, New Avengers, Dark Avengers, Deadpool, Astonishing X-Men, Power Girl, Supergirl, and World of Krypton.

The main reason I've dropped them is the price. They are getting too expensive. These are titles that I like, but not must owns. The Superman titles are just terrible, I hate the direction they've taken.

Titles that I will stick with are as follows:

Batman
Batman and Robin
Detective
Red Robin
Green Lantern
Green Lantern Corps
Superman: Secret Origin (Geoff Johns' take on Superman is fantastic)
Justice League of America
Justice Society of America
Blackest Night
Captain America
Captain America Reborn
Thor
Invincible Iron Man
Secret Six
Ultimate Avengers

World of New Krypton I may drop as well. Goddamn the comic is so damn slow moving. In about six or so issues all I can you that's happened is Superman is a part of new Krypton (despite Blackest Night and such) and Zod got shot and now he's leader. That's it. Oh and Superman has no one he can call a friend now or something.

But dropping Power Girl? For shame...

Superman: Secret Origin feels like if Stan Lee got his hands on the Superman origin circa the 1960's. Not an insult, but a compliment. It's easily a great take on Superman and better then the current Supes stuff that's on the shelves.

And who's picking up all the Black Lantern tie in's next month to get all the rings? I Sadly feel like I'm gonna be one of those poor saps.

Finally a slow week for once:

DOOM PATROL #4 (I believe one of the ring titles)
HAUNT #2
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #610
CAPTAIN AMERICA REBORN #4
ULTIMATE COMICS SPIDER-MAN #4
STREET FIGHTER II TURBO #9

DOOM PATROL #4 (BLACKEST NIGHT)
LOBO HIGHWAY TO HELL #1 (MAYBE, this one is $6.99, but curious to see what Scott Ian brings to da main man)
HAUNT #2
CAPTAIN AMERICA REBORN #4 (OF 6)

Oh and that last issue of Detective Comics. Holy shit! Easily one of my favorite single issues of a comic this year with giving a rather dark origin story (or basically another part of the Bat mythos with dealing with loss to become a hero).

RAPTURE #5 (OF 6)

BATMAN #693

BATMAN AND ROBIN #6

BOOSTER GOLD #26 (BLACKEST NIGHT)

GREEN LANTERN CORPS #42 (BLACKEST NIGHT)

REBELS #10 (BLACKEST NIGHT)

WALKING DEAD #67

DAREDEVIL #502

Going to be dropping Batgirl. Too friggin slow paced and already got to the point where I don't care what happens.

Fantastic Four continues to deliver and the new Aeres mini series was surprisly good. X-Factor finished off pretty lame, hope David picks it back up in issue #200.

Good news for old-school Avenger fans. Looks like
Cap, Iron Man & Thor are getting back together

Oh god yes. That really was the issue of the year for me so far.

Man, I miss being able to pick up my comics every week. Had to drop this hobby completely over a year ago, just recently got back into it, although I'm limited to getting trade paperbacks or hardcovers for birthdays/Christmas. Although I do, at least, have a Deadpool Subscription from Marvel... I couldn't miss out on my favorite character.

I don't even know if my local comic shop is still in business. I might try getting a couple more subscriptions from Marvel. Thinking about:
Deadpool Team-Up (Definite, as soon as they offer subscriptions online)
X-Force (Still any good?)
Or:
Wolverine: Weapon X (Heard this is good)

X-Force is still good. If you want to go with at least one "X" title it's a good choice. I love the art.

I think Wolverine: Weapon X is a mini-series, haven't read it. If you want an ongoing Wolvie title then Orgins is what you want. Old Man Loagn was solid, and is out in trades. Don't touch Dark Wolverine, awful comic.

As for Deadpool his normal series is good. The last arc was a little stale, but seems to be picking back up. Didn't care for Deadpool #900. Just a bunch of short stories.

X-Force is meh.

If you need an X-title, X-Factor is the way to go.

Also, Deadpool has *3* ongoing titles: Deadpool, Deadpool:Merc with a Mouth, and Deadpool Team-Up.

There is a really cool Comic book podcast at thegameheroes.com I recently started listening to it, but the guys are pretty funny and cover lots of stuff about what's going on each week in comics. I hadn't really been reading comics for a while, but these guys got me back into it. They have a pretty weird name - Yamagato Industries Business Report. Still, I think they are worth a listen to anyone who likes comics.
Deadpool seems to be getting the over miked treatment. Like Venom did in the 90's...
"seems"? More like "without a doubt". :)

Alright, without a doubt Deadpool is becoming oversaturated and is the new Wolverine. Better? He's kinda like Bender in that episode of Futurama where he becomes the new star of All My Circuits.

One Deadpool title is too much! Now he's involved in X-crossovers too (AKA what helps make characters more irrelevent). He's not THAT important a character.

Quite true. He can be an entertaining character (when he's written properly) but he's still just a peripheral character. Nothing wrong with liking him, of course, he's just not important/vital to any corner of the Marvel U.

He's best suited as a voice outside of the Marvel Universe that criticizes current events instead of being a part of them. Plus I want to say zombie Deadpool being the sole survivor of the god awful Marvel Zombies 3 and basically getting his own arc in "Merc With A Mouth" (in the first arc or whatever the series) is the character as a whole jumping the shark. Nice knowing you Wade, now Marvel's gonna run you to the ground...

Ah, thanks. Only made it to X-Force #4 before I had to quit buying. Good to hear it's still good, looking to get all the trades for Christmas. It's the only X-Men title I'm interested in, besides maybe Cable.

Already have a subscription to the main Deadpool series. Was interested in DP Team-Up because I liked the last few issues of Cable/Deadpool when he was teamed up with random Marvel heroes.

On other boards people 'attack' *if such things are possible on a message board* me because I like Deadpool. How hardcore of a nerd do you have to be for you to hate someone based on their favorite comic character? Good to see things are more civil here so far.

Not going to attack you because of your like of a character. He's good when used right, but I just hate how Marvel handles their characters or basically what every company does when they realize they got a cash cow.

Really only Marvel character I enjoy right now is Daredevil (though him being part of this damn "Dark Reign" now may change that). Since he's given his own part of the Marvel universe to do whatever and because of that has character has developed. I Liked Cap too, but Jesus Christ his death (Steve Rogers) was both a blessing and a curse. They hyped the shit out of Cap getting killed even before the comic hit news stands and in a year decide to bring him back after fans have already settled in with Bucky taking the mantle of his deceased friend. That and Cap: Reborn is the biggest "WHAT THE fuck?!" comic because five out of six issues in and it's hard to take any of this seriously.

So... they're really bringing Steve Rogers back as Cap? I liked the idea of Bucky being the reluctant sidekick being forced to step up, and the few issues I got to see of that were very good.

I can't say I'm surprised, though. If Steve really WILL be Captain America again, it's probably in preparation for any new fans that might be brought in by the movie. Didn't think it'd be this soon though.

Yup, Steve is coming back. I Like Cap as much as the next guy, but Jesus that movie won't be out until like 2011 or so. Plus it's more interesting to read about Bucky trying to honor Steve's memory, but continuing to put his spin on things (shooting people in the knee caps). Though the big rumor is after Dark Siege that Steve will be the new head of SHIELD.

Really? That's like the opposite of everyone's opinion, including my own. X-Force is excellent.

Also I never liked Deadpool. Granted I still like him more than other characters in the MU (Sentry and Ares for example, ugh.)

deadpool joining the xmen is going to be very interesting but i will agree that whole him looing for the zombie head storyline is dull but i do enoy the banter between the 2 deadpools. cable is the only comic in the maor x series i dont care for and i havent since back when he ran his own xteam.

new mutants and xforce and xfactor are easily the best in the group but im liking the overall mutant island storyline they should have done that years ago and cycolps as a character is way better now than he ever was ( still wondering wtf it is with him and dating psychic chicks).

dark reign overall has been pretty cool too i honestly never really liked norman osbourne or even the green goblin ut what theyre ding with him now is awesome. hes a pretty fucked up character and its cool to see how all of this is being fueld by his hatred and jealousy of others and his ego. dark reign has done alot to get me to read comics i wouldnt have ever bothered with. overall the marvel universe has imroved alot over the years.

spiderman, brother voodoo and this whole war against gods deal are cool reads too. marvel has done a great job of fleshing out alot of their old characters and making them real and interesting people as well as reviving old crap characters and breathing new life into them.

Agreed. I think they should've held off on resurrecting him, at least another year or so. I really like Bucky Cap and think he's still got some good stories Marvel could explore.

In an interview for Wizard Bendis said Dark Seige is the last big event planned for Marvel. He said it'll wrap everything up. He also said to expect change with some series, especially the Avengers.

Just to play the role of cynical asshole (or really just cynical fanboy I'll admit), they also said the same thing about...

House of M, Scarlet Witch goes and has a several months long period and says no more mutants...Except the ones who sell comics. Aw fuck it! We still got mutants!

Civil War and Spider-man. We got lots of stories for unmasked Spider-man! Aw fuck it! Bring the devil in and rewrite all the times we said "expect changes" that actually meant fuck ups!

Civil War and Cap. He had one of the best and most heroic deaths in comics...NOW LET'S OVER SENSATIONALIZE IT! fuck, we need a pick me up...BRING HIS ASS BACK TO LIFE!

In short. If they can make it stick for over a year then I'll be a believer. Though really only character whom I've seen changes with among all these events is Tony Stark. Holy shit slow build, but his fall from grace and further descent is the only benefit from all this.

When I say big event I mean these big crossovers. Marvel likes to shake things up (unmask Spidey, Kill Cap, etc) and I'm sure that wont change. but they always return things to the status quo. I'm guessing that's the point of Dark Seige, just the return to the Marvel of old. I don't remember Bendis saying "this is it, the final big event I have planned" until now.

It's still a crossover. I'm not sure exactly who will have tie-ins but I'm guessing Avengers & Thor will be big. From what I understand it's not on the same scale that Secret Invasion & Civil War were on.

For this weeks pull list:

Batgirl #4
Batman #693
Batman & Robin #6
Booster Gold #26 (Blackest Night)
Green Lantern Corps #42
Rebels #10 (BLACKEST NIGHT)
Red Robin #6
Titans #19
Walking Dead #67
Amazing Spider-Man #611
X-Force #21
Street Fighter IV #4

Lots of DC titles this week. Only picking up Booster Gold & Rebels for the Corps rings. Otherwise, twelve titles to pick up is a good week.

Light week.

ADVENTURE COMICS #4 (BLACKEST NIGHT)
FLASH REBIRTH #5 (OF 6)
OUTSIDERS #24 (BLACKEST NIGHT)
SUPERMAN BATMAN #66 (BLACKEST NIGHT)
INVINCIBLE #68 $2.99

Punisher #11 seems tempting after the events of Punisher: The List, but man I have a feeling it'll be Punisher Avenging Angel again.

so is he going to stay that way permanently , the punsher, or not? also does anyone know wtf hapened to dr strange? i read his recent comic as well as the brother voodoo stuff and not only
did he lose that amulet but that demon mentioned in the comic how his hands turned against him or some such thing where he cant do magic much anymore.
just wondering when everthing fell to shit for him.

Never read up on Dr.Strange, but Punisher honestly I feel Frank Castle is going to get the same treatment as all other Marvel events. Basically they'll say in interviews it's a big change and they have plenty of storylines lined up, but after a year (or two at most) somehow they'll put Frank Castle back as just plain normal Frank Castle Punisher.

I am really surprised with Tony Daniel's Batman. He does a great job of writing. When I got the end of the issue I was like, "No, I have to wait a whole month for the next issue!" I rarely say that with comics.

Well, let's take a look at issues I've dumped, shall we?

In no particular order:
Batgirl
Gothom Sirens
Action
Superman
Superman: World of Krypton
Thunderbolts
Secret Warriors
Deadpool
Powergirl
New Avengers
Dark Avengers

With the price of these titles average about 2.99 for DC and 3.99 for Marvel.

Tony Daniel's Batman surprised me as well. He always just came off as another random late 90's Image artist (basically copying style of Marc Silvestri and Todd McFarlane with a bit of Eric Larsen), but he writes a damn good comic. Especially with Battle for the Cowl and now his Batman is off to a good start. Though it's good...It's not Detective Comics good ;)

Man that comic is a feast for the eyes and now after the origin, man, can't wait to read more.

And you know my thoughts on dropping Powergirl (same as Rei no Otaku's I'm sure).
