I haven't played SCIV in a long time. I've also never played online with it. I am also confident that I suck a lot. Sad thing is...I know I'm going to get the Yoda DLC at some point. I'm such a sucker.
Anyone want to play some Soul Calibur? I'd rank myself as mediocre, so it should be an easy win if you're good.
you ever open your ports? I would fight you but not till you open em.

Not really a pickup but my arcade got this in today...

my arcade needs t6!

Although there is SFIV about 8 miles away from me, I haven't had the time to check it out yet.

8 miles is a very short distance. I took two planes from Indianapolis to San Jose just to play SF. Well, and celebrate my best friend's birthday but that's just what I told him.
nice! seems SFA3 and SFA2 are coming to PSN:

http://www.siliconera.com/2008/10/20/street-fighter-alpha-2-pummels-into-psns-playstation-classics/

I'll hold off on the first one. never played SFA2 to have a good idea about it so I'll get that on release.
Good news. I'd get them but I already have the SF Anthology. I'm guessing no online component to those?

I need to head out to MGL to play some T6. I've spent a lot of time playing SFIV that I haven't even checked out the T6 machines we have in the area.

It seems that the PSN Alphas are going to be ports of the PS1 versions. It would be better to just track down Alpha Anthology and play that to death. Not only do you get Alphas 1, 2, 2 Gold, and 3 but you get Alpha 3 Arranged and Hyper SFA.

Does Alpha 3 Arranged or Hyper SFA include the characters that they added to the PS1 port? And I believe the PSP Alpha 3 got a new character or two... are they present in the collection at all?

I believe the compilation in general supports all the additional characters from the console versions of the game(s), once you've unlocked everything. I really need to track down a copy of this game as it's the one major Street Fighter console game I've always wanted that I don't have. I'm still not sure why I never made much of an effort to pursue it.

Balrog, Juni, and Juli are secret characters in Alpha 3.

Street Fighter Alpha 3 Arranged includes Fei-long, T. Hawk, Dee Jay, Guile, and Evil Ryu

Hyper Street Fighter Alpha includes every character from every iteration including Arranged. It also includes new isms:

Normal Mode S-ism 1 (Green) -- Characters gain access to chain combos and Advancing Guard

Mazi Mode S-ism 2 (Blue) -- Characters can parry

Saikyo Mode S-ism 3 (Pink) -- No super combos but you get a massive damage increase and CPS1 Chain Combos (plays like SFII)

Classic Mode S-ism (Red) -- alternate special moves and super combos, Ken gains access to the moves he had in the CvS series

....and Super Gem Fighter!!

Game is so fun
I wish it did, for sure. Then it would truly be complete.
When SFA3MAX and T5DR were PSP exclusives, I thought for sure Namco and Capcom were smoking crack...

Same here. I didn't want to buy a PSP to play those. Still haven't. ;)

At least T5DR came out for PS3 and is awesome.

Yea but why not SFA3MAX? My personal favorite Street Fighter was SFA2 (Gold I guess, whatever doesn't matter) but I know a lot of people would pick SFA3 as their favorite.. isn't MAX the definitive version of SFA3? They should put that on XBL/PSN or something. I'd buy it.

hey so have any of u guys ever like hold down for 2 seconds, then press up and kick at the same time,

and then pause the game??

GameSpot has posted a 10 minute video from a 64 man Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix tournament GameSpot held a few weeks ago. Three full matches are in the video including Chun Li vs. Sagat, Ryu vs. Ryu & Chun Li vs. Ken. The game looks very solid in motion judging by the video. Everybody was playing on EX2s. Here is the video.

BLAZ BLUE!!!!

Aksys let Tilt test it at Puente Hills (aka they're trying to get Tilt locations to buy a bunch!) ! hahah

Next location stop?

I'm guessing that was the Gamespot tourney held here in the Bay.

Wish they would've posted the SFIV tourney videos. I heard John Choi and Jeff (SF) were going at it in the finals (Sagat v. Rufus).

Apparently the Wolfe brothers made an appearance as well.

Damn. Who did Graham Run? I know his brother usually runs Sim in ST when possible.

That vid has some of the Bay Area's best just standing about. No offense to some of those who played but those vids showed some scrubby ass play for some of the players :(

Was that common amongst the brackets? Lots of pro players and lots of random scrubs?

Also the commentary might be the worst I've ever heard for a fighting game. I know it's Gamespot and not someone like Sirlin or members of a hardcore fighting community, but still...shit was awful.

I thought Sirlin looked like Biff from Back to the Future.

Actually I saw Biff do standup earlier this year, which makes it funnier =)

when i played graham in sf4 he used gief, dunno who he used for sthd.

as far as the dudes who were playing in that vid the only one i knew was jeff and i think it was his first match so judging from his play it just looked like safe play with zoning fireballs and alot of anti air standing hk. tourney was basically one and out with no warmup so i'd say everyone was just trying to feel it out. there was also some speculation of lag on the monitors and there were some complaints on the sticks so those could also be contributing factors. sf4 i know it was alot of people's first time playing it (like me) so i wouldn't expect alot of 1 frame link corner only special cancel into level 2 fadc into ultra combos like you see in all the japanese vids these days.

there were alot of good players (of other games like sf3, cvs2, t5dr) who i knew or knew of like a bunch of sf state, bunch of east bay, bunch of keystone guys. there were also a bunch of people who just seemed like really casual gamers.

the brackets were pretty random. like most everyone i knew at least won their first match in sf4. by the time it got to final 4 in sf4 it was jeff, graham, choi, and our friend steve who at the time was probably the best gief player at sf state. i didn't really pay much attention to what happened in sthd because i was peaced out in the first round.

i think by the time it got to final 4 in sf4 i think someone more knowledgeable like seth was doing the commentary (i think i remember someone calling out combos over a speaker) but yeah looking back i didn't even notice these dudes doing the commentary because of how loud everything else was and all the games going on.

p.s. everybody got these chun li figures as a gift for coming

Good to see some of the best players out of the Bay represented (obviously considering where it was held). KS2 is way legit.

Single Elim stinks

Man, shit tracks so much in SCIV now that sidestepping is hard to do. You don't notice it so much until you get some good human competition, then you realize that lots of verticals will hit you even if you are sidestepping.

I know everyone knows that already. ;)

Woo hopefully getting my arcade stick today! And my copy of Street Fighter Anniversary for PS2 is getting here this weekend!

did I ever tell u guys that I really like Del Taco???

it's like fighter game food for realz... it makes you strong!!

anyway I gotta stop sleeping on Street Fighter podcast...

they were giving out free CDs at Denjin when I went! It's so inspirational too!

I beat my coworker so hard at Street Fighter Alpha 3, that he put my head in the doorway, and slammed the door shut.

I can see why SFA3 was not chosen to be featured at EVO.

Who were you guys using? And did you take a cell phone video (of his head slamming in the door not of the vicious beatdown you delivered)?
