Easy solution to to this problem. Name your character in DA Grey Warden, in DA 2 The Champion, in ME make the first name Commander. In Kotor, name that motherfucker Raven.

Or play a game like Uncharted where you share the same name as the main character. Oh yeah, Chloe, say my name again.
Yeah, most role playing games you aren't playing as yourself. Something like Dragon Age you still pick a pre-set background story for your character etc.

The Bethesda games are a bit more open I guess since the characters are pretty generic. But I don't really immerse myself much in the character in those games anyway. The story is so weak and generic I'm just playing for the exploration and questing and not paying much attention to story anyway.

Same with BL2. I don't really know what the plot/point is really, I'm just running around doing missions and shooting the shit out of things, chatting with my friend I've been playing with etc.
Well, that's the case with just about anything as far as I'm concerned.
I mean, short of playing D&D with a pad and paper and the books and stuff with a DM and whatever, I wouldn't call anything else role-playing. In those instances, you craft a character to be what you want, act how you want, everything about them. In any of these games, including borderlands, you're given a constrained set of quests that have at most a handful of outcomes and are part of a canned set objectives. The most you can do is make your character look how you want (to some extent) and maybe choose the closest thing to what you would say in dialogue. You get the same generic backstory and stuff... I think the RPG genre in terms of video games is a misnomer in that you don't really role-play, but the genre encompasses a lot of the elements of traditional role-playing games.

Maybe that's why I see it differently than Senor Crotch does. I dunno... but I've never once been immersed in the "role" of any video game character. Not to the point where I feel like I am acting as that character and doing whatever... games with "morality choices" come close, but the gamer in me kicks in most of the time and forces me to choose the consistent option to make sure I get the most out of the game (Mass Effect games, InFamous games, etc.)

Something I fight in myself any time I see it coming up in a game I give two shits about.

And Bethesda games are, like, anti-roleplaying.

I always end up being a mix of the renegade/paragon in ME or good/evil in InFamous and that usually locks me out of things like having my crew survive or getting all the powers... so I say "I'm not really happy about this, but I need to choose x". It makes me very sad. :(

Yeah, I've done more than my fair share of ranting about how fucking terrible binary morality systems usually turn out. Mass Effect's was particularly bad. I think chucking that system was the biggest improvement in ME3.

Though they still mapped every single fucking thing in the game to the spacebar, so, hey, baby steps.
I bought the new Indie Royale bundle because Dangerous High School Girls In Trouble! is a great name for anything.
Heeey, you should have consulted Hank about that game first!

Also, Sonic Generations for PC is $5.99 today only at GMG. Use 'dis - GMG20-27J4Z-8NXHO

I always try to play dialogue as honestly as possible, and then end up with a really boring character because i'm a rather indecisive person.

i know i liked The Witcher's dialgoue choices a lot more, but maybe i'm giving that too much credit, it was such a long time ago.
I read his review.
You mean this one?

These high school girls would be in more trouble if you gave me a bottle of Kraken and a box of condoms. Dangerous indeed.

Morality system was still terrible, based on the final dialogue tree and the requirements to get parts of the ending or whatever because of it. :(

I basically roleplay my characters as myself, except in Spider-Man Web of Shadows, I was basically emo Peter Parker from Spider-Man 3 in that game.

Never saw Spiderman 3. In fact, I don't think I ever saw all of 2. The first one was... unpleasant enough for me.
Morality system was still terrible, based on the final dialogue tree and the requirements to get parts of the ending or whatever because of it. :(
The ending was the ending. If I ever re-play the game, I'll just stop at the beam.

And I'll say nothing more on that god damn topic.

spider man 3 wasn't that bad but the dance part was fucking embarrassing. I liked part 3 more than the reboot. The reboot blew.

I didn't think the reboot was all that great, but I 'd never put it below Spider-Man 3, that movie was just completely laughable. It had Venom in it and it was still terrible.

Plus Andrew Garfield is way hotter than Tobey Maguire.

Tobey was a better peter though. Only good thing about the reboot was emma stone. What was the boss cliffhanger I forgot was it osbourne?

It was spoiler.

Oh, role playing in games? I choose whatever benefits me the most and/or is the most fun sounding. ^__^

Best example was going to the slave camp in Fallout 3. They wouldn't let me in, so I shot my way in, killed every slaver there. Brutal slaughter, totally unprovoked, but I got positive karma for feeding my bloodlust. lol Awesome. Love it when games say "Killing a bad guy = good!!" even though you're just killing those whose ideals differ from yours. Maybe they have ill intentions, but does that justify wholesale manslaughter?

Dat morality, yo.

I named my character in KOTOR Sith Lord Revan. ^__^ I knew that plot twist before I even played the game.

And yes, Nater Tot, she does say your name a lot. Rawr.

It's the crowning jewel of my Steam library.

But Whoknows told me that Sonic Werehog is better.
I read his review.
I like that review. It was from the heart.
I enjoyed Spider-Man 3 for what it was, a cheese fest :D

Love that scene. ^__^
look at the big brain on brad
It's "Brett."

Also all the Spider-Man movies were horrible. The reboot was better than the other three, but that's really not saying much.
Indignate, since your relationship with Whoknows imploded, would you like to accompany me to this? ^__^

This man knows what's up.

And I enjoy even terrible superhero movies.

By the time I finally saw The Incredibles, it had been so talked up to me as the best Pixar film ever (at the time) and it really fell short for me. I think I may have laughed twice and was bored for most of it. :\

When I see clips like this, it makes me glad I never saw 3.
Avengers > any super hero movie. Agreed? ok!

The Incredibles > Any Superhero movie.
The answer to both is yes, be damned logic.

Tho, The Incredibles is probably the best Fantastic Four movie.

Agreed. I don't see what's so good about the movie.
Agreed. I don't see what's so good about the movie.
I think I liked Jack Jack and the ice dude -- Frozo or whatever. They made me laugh a little, but I dunno, I didn't feel the standard pull that I normally do with Pixar films.

I'm thinking I just don't really like Brad Bird, though I did like The Iron Giant and The Family Dog... :whistle2:k
Nope. I'd put Nolan's Batman movies over it.
Agreed. I like Avengers a lot, but it's more just a great, fun popcorn action flick. And as a whole I probably like the Iron Man movies more than it in that vein. The Nolan Batman movies are just great movies in general, rather than just great super hero/action movies.

Pixar film wise, I really like The Incredibles. It's probably my 2nd favorite behind UP.

Back to gaming, still loving Borderlands 2. Played 4 or 5 hours last night with friends. Didn't do much new, mainly replayed some early missions on another friends games, but still had a blast. Going to fire up my game here in a bit and knock out some missions before watching football at noon.

I started writing a post on my favorite pixar movies and realized I couldn't order them. Only that the cars movies and a bugs life are on the bottom.

My favorite Pixar movie is Wall-E. And I liked The Avengers more than the Batmans. I'm actually not super crazy about the Nolan Batman movies in general. I can't quite put my finger on it, but they are just missing that extra something for me.

I couldn't name a favorite, but I can make some order of Pixar flims if I use tiers...
Great: Finding Nemo, Wall-E, UP
Good: Monsters, Inc., Toy Story 3
Okay: Ratatouille, Cars, Toy Story 2
Not for me: Toy Story, A Bug's Life, The Incredibles
Bad: Cars 2
