BoFI & II were/are awesome. Lufia was another series ruined by the 3rd and on sequels
Wait, so was I supposed to not like FFX? Cuz they did a terrific job at that then. That's the point.
No, you're supposed to not like Spec Ops. FFX isn't nearly on that level of artistry.Wait, so was I supposed to not like FFX? Cuz they did a terrific job at that then.
Alright so what am I doing wrong here: I got Sabin, Edgar, Setzer and Cyan back. Then I went to the Veldt Cave and got Relm and Gau, though Relm won't leave her bed and join my party yet. Then I got Terra. Now I'm lost. Looked at some guides and apparently I let Shadow die (whatever), but more importantly, certain event triggers aren't firing for me because Relm still hasn't joined up. Anyone know how to get her to leave her bed?
I'd like to face Kefka now but I tried it and it seems impossible to advance without 3 decent parties.
Only one there I have played was Crimson Gem Saga. I liked it at first, but then it felt kinda fetch questy. I got bored about 10 hours in and put it down. Traditional turn based RPG with either 3 or 4 party members from what I remember. Graphics were nice and the battle system was pretty straight forward. Take my opinion with a grain of salt through, as I generally have not enjoyed handheld gaming as much as console/pc gaming.Would you games recommend these games from the PSN Atlus sale:
- Growlanser Wayfarer of Time
- Class of Heroes
- Crimson Gem Saga
- Hexyz Force
- Riviera™: The Promised Land
There are many places you can go.Alright so what am I doing wrong here: I got Sabin, Edgar, Setzer and Cyan back. I second getting GoGo, as my main party was Tera, Sabin, Edgar, and GoGo. Depending on your levels through, Triangle Island may be a bit tough. There are many places you can go.
In Jidoor you should be able to inspect the paintings at the big house and one of them should trigger a fight, then you should be able to go find Relm, then use Relm to get Strago at the tower. (It's been a long time since I played a non-Shadow playthrough, so I'm not sure if there actually is an event trigger for this.)
You can get Mog and later Umaro in Narshe. (Don't forget to pick up the Moogle Charm.)
You can get Gogo by going to Triangle Island in the Northeast. Let your entire party get sucked up by a Zone Eater.
You can begin Cyan's sidequest by having him in your party and sleeping in Doma Castle.
You can do the underground castle sidequest by going to Figaro and tunneling, it should bump into something and you can leave through the jail door.
You can find Locke by doing the Phoenix Cave, which you should be able to land on from the airship. Then you have access to Narshe where you can get the Cursed Shield and Ragnarok (either the Magicite or the weapon, whichever you prefer). And with Phoenix Magicite, you can learn Life 3, which is the typical solution to beating the boss at the Tower of Magi.
Then you can go kill Kefka.
I liked it as well, but check out gameplay videos. It's not most people's cup of tea.Ygdarra union is on sale. I thought that was pretty good.
Yeah these are the events that are failing to trigger. I'll just skip those two characters I guess, lol. There are many places you can go.

You are going to have a harder time getting tio Kefka if you skip them. Each of your three parties has to fight a boss or two in Kefka's tower before reaching Kefka. There are 13 characters you can get in the WOR, and each party can hold up to 4 people. With Shadow dead you almost have to get them to complete your parties.Yah these are the events that are failing to trigger. I'll just skip those two characters I guess, lol.
Don't bother. If you haven't enjoyed it up to that point, then you won't enjoy the rest.Nocturne: Got to "the wall" (Matador) and just saidit. Was bored and disappointed in the severe dearth of story. It gets so heavily recommended I may give it another shot some day.
I currently have five MegaTen games in my own backlog, and it'll be six once SMTIV gets here. I really should play through at least a couple of them before the end of the year...Also have most of the other SMT games in my backlog... it's a sickness lol.

I'm gonna agree with Blueshinra, if the story you were getting wasn't enjoyable and that's what you want to get out of Nocturne you aren't going to like it. Let me say though that I do really enjoy the story of Nocturne, the game is very much about morality and the exploration of being consumed by the purest form of people's inner desires. But the world feels intentionally devoid, because it is given that the world ends at the very start of the game, and you only meet up with the remaining human characters who are important parts of the main story every so often. If I had to liken the story to another game with a similar plot structure I'd say it reminds me a lot of Vagrant Story which I also really adore the plot of (as well as the gameplay). Both games focus on creating this very lonely setting.Don't bother. If you haven't enjoyed it up to that point, then you won't enjoy the rest.
The stories in each game are stand-alone, so you shouldn't have to worry about that end of things. However, since each game improves on the last, it would probably be difficult to go back to the older ones if you play IV first. Can anyone recommend Etrian Odyssey 1-3? I've got them already and I'm wondering if I should open and play them before I get IV.
Club Nintendo have this promotion when you register both Fire Emblem: Awakening and SMT 4, you get $30 eShop credit till August 31st.I'll pick up SMt 4 when it drops slightly in price or there's some sort of bog1 half off sale somewhere,
There's that soul hackers game too.
Soooooo many hours. You're in for a treat.I finally got my 3DS XL. SMT IV, Fire Emblem, Tales of the Abyss here I come. Oh and Animal Crossing.
First print. Is the SMT Box a pre order thing or a first print thing? Anyone know?
This might sound really weird, but to me, gameplay-wise, SMT games are most like Dragon Quest ones. It's mostly in that they're both traditional turn-based JRPG series that sometimes have monster recruitment, and the flow and general feeling of battle is pretty similar, too. What franchise plays kind of like SMT? I've never played a game in the series before but I'm interested in SMT IV because of the LE box and the $30 credit since I already bought Fire Emblem.
I care. Can't wait! The news is in. So far Shin Megami Tensei IV has a 87 on Metacritic. That means I got to get a 3DS soon but still wanting for a price drop or decent sale. Also Time and Eternity got a 40 if anyone cares.
Sega seems to hate money as much as Squeenix when it comes to sequels to great rpgs. I'd rather have a new Skies of Arcadia, anyway.Playing through Shining Force: Sword of Hayja. Man I miss old school SF, mybe with Xcom & Fire Emblem being big hits we can get another one here? I'd settle for a collection that included the parts of III that were never released over here.
I'll be talking about it plenty starting on Aug 6th. No reason to torture myself until then...There is an extreme lack of Tales of Xillia talk in here.
