Mass Effect 3 Discussion Thread

Del Ray Publishing and BioWare's official comment on Deception:

Mass Effect fans have been asking for a comment on recent concerns over Mass Effect: Deception. We have been listening and have the below response on the issue.

The teams at Del Rey and BioWare would like to extend our sincerest apologies to the Mass Effect fans for any errors and oversights made in the recent novel Mass Effect: Deception. We are currently working on a number of changes that will appear in future editions of the novel.

We would like to thank all Mass Effect fans for their passion and dedication to this ever-growing world, and assure them that we are listening and taking this matter very seriously.

I've read through the prologue and the first chapter, and it's... not very good so far. I've already noticed a handful of errors and inaccuracies, and I've barely made a dent in the book. If this "revised" edition ever sees the light of day, I imagine it would have to be close to a complete rewrite.
 
I guess Del Rey decided to retcon the entire book and start over from scratch?

I'm sure they were getting flaming email after email about how things were pretty broken and I'm sure it hit some critical point with their marketing department.

I wonder if they'll give "2nd edition without the fuckups" version to everyone for free who bought it the first time?

Here is how they can fix Deception. Get Dietz off the book and Karpyshyn back on and actually give Karpyshyn more than like 4-6 months to write the book. As much as I love Mass Effect. I want more than 300 pages for 8 bucks.
 
How many are getting the CE? Wow at ME1 and ME2 only being $70 (And why didn't I get the CE for 2..wasn't into ME1 at the time)..but $20 more for ME3? Still thinking about it.

Amen, brother. I didn't start off so anti-spoiler, but I'm so anti now that I'm not even going to play the SP part of the demo. But, I'm an achievement whore.....this is the ultimate test. Son of a beetch. Can someone take a look and give us the gist without giving away spoilers? What's the ratio of SP to MP achievements? Another one for insanity? Tame stuff like that.

Spoiler-ing just in case, although all I really do is answer your questions. Better safe than sorry says I.

All of the MP achievements can be unlocked through doing SP stuff as well, so you could 1000/1000 without touching MP at all (though it might be harder). There is an insanity achievement. And there's the usual compliment of story-based cannot miss achievements, power-based achievements, and a paramour achievement. There's really nothing too spoiler-y there. All the story based ones are incredibly vague.

I'm still wanting to put up my pre-order for the CE but I don't know if I'll have enough funds to pay bills, eat and then pick this game up lol. Sad, a year ago I'd have pre-ordered ME3 like 4 to 6 months before release and now I'm going down to the wire lol.

I've had mine since June.

And just to give perspective, used copies of the ME 2 CE are going for $65 on Amazon, $5 less than it originally cost new. Also I just sold my ME 1 CE used for $165 on Amazon.
 
I have had my CE on preorder since July 14, 2011. I think I canceled at one time but I can not remember why.
 
I've had my preorder for a while, but I did wait a long time (much to my own surprise) to see what stores would have what preorder bonuses. Gamestop is the only one, so they got my money.

Regarding the CE, we know about the physical goodies and some of the DLC, but we still don't know anything about the DLC character and mission.
I remember early on there was leak that it's a prothean character and I made the mistake of clicking a link on EGM Daily that revealed two new squad mates, one being a prothean. When I saw that I closed that page right up, since I'm trying to not be spoiler-ified.

I hope there is an official reveal soon.

What was inaccurate with the novel?

I would want it to be Steelbook, but as long as it's a regular DVD sized tin and not an oversized tin like ME 1/Gears 1 CE's then I'll be content.
 
How excited am I for ME3? Excited enough that last night when I got a Amazon Warehouse deal notice of used Kinect for $70 shipped, I bit, solely to use it with this.

I feel dirty...
 
So I guess the new "mission" for the Facebook game is up, you're supposed to enter a pickup line (or rejection line) for Liara. It shows what other people wrote, there's some funny stuff as well as some embarrassingly earnest stuff. :lol: But I can't figure out how to check whether I won the avatar prop or not from last week's mission.

I hope it's not a tin case like DA: O CE, since it was a bit cheap-feeling and they did switch out to a real steelbook in the production run.

Wow. Newegg deactivated the CE in my shopping card while checking out. Even though it had let me have 100 in my cart a few minutes ago..
 
Decided to give ME3 a pass. After buying ME2 on release day, and paying full price for all the (disappointing to me) DLC's, and seeing how the game went down in price really fast, decided to wait on this till it hits $20. Couldn't care less about the online aspect, so even if there's 0 online players by then I won't care.
