Mavs to the Finals: Congrats to the Heat
Riley basically created all the Van Gundys. Stan and Jeff should be greatful for Riley's teachings and the opportunities he gave them.

I disagree that Stan could have taken this team to the finals. First off, the players like Shaq and Zo were bitching about STAN and nobody listened to his wacky plays. Stan wouldnt have the balls to hack a Ben Wallace or take out Shaq cause he sucks at fts. Stan coaches to blow leads and lose close games. Riley coaches to win.

Riley is a complete piece of shit and to think they are winning because of him is laughable. How many times has the man gotten knocked out of the first round while in Miami? How many playoff disappointments has he had since he left New York? And who always beat him in the first round, oh you mean the Jeff Van Gundy, the man he created? Gimme a break, Van Gundy has a totally different play style and won with a far different cast of players after Riley left. To think that Riley deserves credit for either Van Gundy's success is a joke.

Hell if he was such a winner there was no reason to quit after another horrible season a week before the next one started. Stan Van Gundy got a first round victory in his first season as coach and was a healthy shaq and wade away from going to the finals. To think that Riley would have been able to do nearly as well has no truth in it because if it did, he wouldn't have quit right before Stan's first season.
Quit being an anti-Riley-ite.
why? It is too much fun to be an anti-Riley-ite since there are so many great memories.

Most coaches can't compare to his superb record as a coach. Just because you don't make it to the finals dosn't mean you're not a top of the line coach. At least riley has bigger balls than most coaches of any sport.

Yeah Van Gundy is sure doing great things in Houston. You act like riley had no success in Miami and New York. The only team the bull's had trouble beating was the Knicks. And after Jordan left Riley did make to a championship. He took a loser bunch of the heat deep into the playoffs and i dont think he ever lost in the first round you ignorant piece of shit. Yeah towards the end he didnt make the playoffs and you can critize some of the moves he made as a GM by signing the likes of Howard. But the Shaq deal and drafting Wade negates all those past fumbles.

oh yeah , Van Gundy's Knicks had a bigger payroll and much better players. Even though the results were the same of him losing. Phil Jackson coached a one man team into the Western conf playoffs. Van Gundy despite having a better team took the Rockets to LAST place. Now stfu and have some iced tea.

I cant stand for ignorant comments. If he's a Mod he should have a certain respondsibility for the flame baited comments he makes. Anyone who has played basketball knows that Pat Riley is a icon.

I didn't realize an opinion about who he does or doesn't like with why he feels that way is flamebait. I guess I'd better watch what I post around here.

get off riley's dick...it's not like if you keep supporting him, he's gonna fly over to where you live and give you tickets to the nba finals or anything...

First of all I did not ban you nor would I have. You call me a piece of shit and can't recall any time the heat lost in the first round, WHEN THEY LOST IN THE FIRST ROUND 4 OUT OF 6 YEARS. Riley's whole coaching career since clutch city beat him in seven has been riddled with disappointment. Here are two examples with video evidence!

Reggie puts such a hurting in the Knicks Riley decided it was time to move on.

Houston with the clutch shot to KNOCK MIAMI OUT IN THE FIRST ROUND, WHEN MIAMI WAS A FIRST SEED!!!!

edit: just in case you want some more proof, there you go.
Three consecutive playoff exits to the Knicks. Four first-round eliminations in the span of six seasons. Mourning's kidney failure. A 25-57 season … followed by Riley's resignation just days before the following season … followed by his controversial return to the bench to replace Stan Van Gundy about a month into this season.

Can't wait for the game tonight. I'm rooting for the Heat. But I think the Mavs will win in 6 or 7.
at least give the underdogs some consideration. D. Wade is the MJ of this era IMHO, and with a Finals win for him will mean a good retirement/dynasty whenever that is.

D. Wade is spectacular, he's like a human highlight reel. Overall an incredibly fun player to watch, no matter which team you want to win.

Wow this BodyShot guy is an idiot.

How is it Van Gundy's fault that T-Mac's out for the year basically, Yao Ming injures himself and was out a significant amount of time. Doesn't help either that his PG is "Skip To My Lou".

speaking of skip, has he ever done one of his and1 moves in an nba game? i dont really watch the rockets play, but i'd like to see him do an and1 move in a "professional" nba game

oh yea, and also, has he lost "street cred" for joining the nba?

He hasn't done And1 because in his rookie year if I remember he played for Dallas, and did that shit where you bounce the ball really high and grab it in air and skip, well he got called for traveling and was released only a couple of days afterwards.

If it wasnt thanks to Fatoine with the nonstop 3s the Heat couldve played a better game. He plays no defense and doesnt go anywhere near the paint unless there is someone is by him to clean up.

Damn, Shaq was -1 FT away from breaking a new record! Walker's 3s were scary in the first quarter, think he missed the rest of them.

Man, Howard & Dirk had offensively ugly games. Howard especially since when he wasn't missing shots he was turning it over. Everyone has a bad game once in a while.

Terry had an awesome game, but damn did he blow his easiest shot of the night.

Also, I'm pretty sure that Alston has never been with the Mavericks.
Heat played awful, couldn't sink a foul shot and only lost by 10.
Are you trying to say that's a good thing? Dirk and Howard didn't have good games, but Dallas still managed to win.
Are you trying to say that's a good thing? Dirk and Howard didn't have good games, but Dallas still managed to win.
Agreed, if Dirk and Howard were on they probably would have won by 15+. They should foul shaq everytime he has the ball and the Heat will score like 10 points.

So Shaq scores all but 10 of the Heats points now a days?

Heat played horribly, Wade and Shaq didn't hit their free-throws and doesn't help that Wade and Walker both had 5+ turnovers.

Shaq was 1 for 9 from the free throw line - that is just embarrassing. I understand that Shaq's hands are too big to hold the ball correctly, but you'd think he'd do something to try to remedy his poor free throw shooting.

Didn't Rick Barry offer to teach Shaq the ever-so powerful granny shot? Hah hah, if so, he definitely should have taken him up on the offer because those shots chould have gone a long way to helping the Heat win that game.

But it's no secret that the Mavs like to foul Shaq. Nellie invented the Hack 'n' Shaq, and usually it worked pretty well.
So Shaq scores all but 10 of the Heats points now a days?
You COMPLETELY misinterpreted what I meant. If they put Shaq on the line EVERY time, the Heat would probably finish with like 10 points. Of course it was a joke, but you didn't get what I was saying :booty:

Great win last night for the Mavs. Terry had a huge game and carried the offense. Antoine Walker played like total crap and should not take anymore shots the rest of the Finals. Did anyone else notice the Heat finally start to feed Shaq with about 2 minutes left in the game? They need to give the ball to Shaq in the post way more often. Terrible FT perfromance by Shaq though. Heat need to win Game 2 or this series will already be over.

Antoine Walker is one of the best players in the game.......at screwing his team up when it counts. He did it when he played in Dallas, and now he does it in Miami. He turns it over, chucks up horrible shots, and fouls the other team all the time when the Heat need some big plays. I am glad though because he's no longer wearing a Mavs jersey!

I actually think it's more crucial for the Mavericks to win tommorow night because after game 2 the series is going to Miami for three straight.

Yeah but the Mavs proved they can win on the road in the playoffs. Heat can't afford going down 2-0. And as for Antoine Walker...I think Shaq can run a break better than him. Riley should bench him for Game 2 after that performance.

Antoine was pretty awful. I have never seen someone that tall run with so many short steps. Reminds me of Herschel Walker in the NFL. Plus, Antoine didn't take one drive to the hoop that was strong. Every drive he did was half-assed or worse. When he isn't hitting threes he is pretty useless on this team. He was a lot better in Boston.

Can someone please tell me who Antoine Walker looks like!? I'm the king of noticing people that look like other people, and I KNOW he looks like someone/something.

It's been bothering me for years.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHH SHIT!!!!!!!!!!! I just googled it.....

EDIT: OMG I just looked down the list of my google results....

I dare anyone to tell me that he is not the twin brother of Michael Finley.

I love how everybody on TV said the heat would come out big tonight and Shaq would dominate. I guess what they really meant is that they would get their ass handed to them and Shaq would have career playoff lows in points

Miami needs to get it together. The playoffs have been the best in a LONG time and it would suck if the Finals don't live up to the previous rounds.

Wow a terrible night for the Heat and a wonderful night for the Mavs.

Fatoine actually had a half-decent game for once and Shaq played terribly.
Dont know what happen to Wade but he cant seem to get his shot together.

All the Mavs were on fire. Dirk, Stackhouse, Howard and even Dampier brought it.

man go Stack!!! lol if i'd had a computer around at half time you guys would've seen something like

JERRY STACKHOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

anyway, i know it's wrong to judge a book by its cover, but is it just me, or does Antoine Walker look like a total dumbass. oh and i heard how the Mavs acquired Nowitzki! amazing. what's Traylor done since then? played for the Blazers or Kings or something?
