Metal Gear Solid 4 & Metal Gear Online - 8/6: Rumored Trophy Update Out Now? Rumor!
Hmm there were a lot of names I didn't recognize last night. I was mostly preoccupied with trying to avoid being killed by Rock.
Oh, maybe it was just a random coincidence then. I thought you did a player search and joined the game I was in since you came towards the end...

Naomi tries to get close to Otacon, because she believes he can help her finish the program that can destroy GW. She realizes, though, that Sunny can be of more help.

That wouldn't be a surprise. After all, the only woman we know for sure that he has slept with is his step-mother. And while he was doing her, his father committed suicide and tried to take his step-sister with him. I'm sure that ruins any sexual encounters he has.

I am having the hardest time on Act 1 (Downtown portion) trying not to get an alert
When you need to meet Rat Patrol Team 01. Here's how I start out. I go forward and head up a ladder to a balcony with a mortar round. Tranq 3 guys on the ground from the balcony, jump down, head right and crawl under a car. Go by the rebels, and snipe a guy on top of the roof, in the 3rd story window, the 2 guys hiding behind the sandbags, and the guy in 1st story window. After that I hide behind the car past the 3 story building. Wait for the 2 PMCs that come out from the right and this is the part where I get spotted. It's always the one spot where the 2 PMC guys always respawn

any tips or other routes?

I typically search games Rock or Casey are in and if you were in there too then we played together, but I don't always recognize all the new names that weren't in the beta CAG games.

instead of going in the street try going behind buildings.

I have been doing that and that is where I get spotted.
My CE guide just game from Amazon. Very, very nice. I like that they put a lot of the secrets in the back, without spoiling a lot of the flashbacks and such.
Its pretty cool with lots of info. Plus at the end of it, it clears some things up about each character if you missed it.
like Big Mama, actually believed that Liquid had taken over Ocelot and that he couldn't reveal it to anyone that it was all fake
Though its best to beat the game first before reading that part.

I am through Act 3 with 0 Alerts. Act 4 is definitely going to be the toughest since
I have no Chaff Grenades and those three-armed robots are a beast. Along with the Frogs accompanying the boss there, I think this one may be my longest act yet.

Last night was pretty fun again, I like that the games you guys set up have a few different game modes/maps. Usually when I am in a game its just one game mode the whole time.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned it, but this is actually an easy act to get zero alerts in. Equip empty magazines, throw them, and the enemy wanders off to investigate.

This is in the guide. You can make all four bosses do this, and you can also make Sunny do this. Equip the song and go into the Start Menu and you can see her do this dance.

Actually Act 4 is easy to get zero alerts in because
if you equip the face camo and crawl around then the Scarabs will never see you. Haha, I even had chaff grenades and I didn't use them because I got so good at crawling around. That's probably why I got the inch worm emblem at the end of the game. If you want chaff grenades though then they are going to be on the helicopter pad just like they were in MGS1.

i just picked up this game and have played about 6 hours now. im in act 2. Call me nitpicking but im really disappointed that they took out the Eotech Holosight. The aimpoint in the game really sucks and im forced to use the ACOG which in close quarters is really a pain in the ass. The Eotech has a much larger field of view and a more vibrant and larger reticle. It would only make sense. and for those of you asking what im talking about... if you remember the sight on all the guns in the first trailers for mgs4. everyone had eotechs.

otherwise ive only started act 2 and its been pretty awesome so far. my only other gripe is the fact that if you die, you have to collect everything you collected before all over again. you also have to repurchase and reupgrade any weapons you might have... which is also a pain in the ass. i have no problem starting at the beginning of the level but christ let me keep my upgrades...

anyone else having problems with mgo. It is saying

Unable to connect to server.(090B:00000001)

I checked the mgo website and it says the server is working. my ps3 is connected to the internet too, I'm logged in adn I can see people playing mgs4

What do you mean the aimpoint sucks? Do you mean the aiming sucks in third person or the aiming sucks in first person?

Hmm, I never had a problem with aiming because I was constantly able to head shot enemies with the tranquilizer pistol from very far away.

Same here. The real issue for me came in first-person. It felt like the gun sighting was getting too much in the way. I imagine it takes a bit of getting accustomed to it.

thats pretty much exactly what im talking about. if youve played cod4. do you remember the marine section when you have the m4 with the eotech and grenade launcher? do you remember how quick and easy it was to find the target with the that sight on? plus it had the big green or red reticle. it was just easier and you could see everything through it because it had a big field of view. In real life youre supposed to keep both eyes open with red dot or holosights.

on mgs4 the aimpoint has a tiny field of view and it just gets in the way. its pretty much useless. im really upset they took the eotech out. i love to play first person in battles. so it affects me. i know i can just use autoaim but whats the fun in that?

Ah I understand what you mean, it's damn near impossible to use the rifles submachine guns in first person. And the third person aim isn't all that accurate either when you compare to the first, it like shoots a little to the right, when you compare to to first person, and seem to be a lot about luck, sometimes I easily get a headshot from half a map away but other times it takes a full clip to take somebody down and they're ten feet away from me.

Either way I usually host my own MGO games around 7 pm pacific for me and my friend. My MGO name is Thongsy, same as here if anybody wants to add me.

Bah, a full fucking week since the game came out and EBGames still hasn't shipped my preorder. WTF!? The UPS page still says "billing information received" on what is supposed to be 3 day shipping. I'm in no rush to play this game, but I'm worried I'm gonna get porked out of $60.

Just beat it again with 0 Alerts.
Stealth Camo HERE I COME! Oh, and I got all 5 figures, meaning...Solar Gun?
Where was the action figure in Act 2? I did about 3 laps around the house and couldn't find it.
After tranqing the Beast, when the Beauty part starts, look at the inside tables/beds of the inner rooms.
Solid Eye helps too. Especially in NV.

It's on a bed.

Who says we can't get MGS tomorrow?

What is considered a CQC Hold in Single Player? That's the only thing I need to figure out in order to get the Altair Costume. I'm assuming with my newly acquired item
Stealth Camo
I can get this really easy.

walking up behind someone and grabbing them in a standing chokehold.

I'm going for a no-kill run but I just blew up the strikers (Tank/APC things) in ACT 1 - does this count as a kill or does it go down as an unmanned combat vechile? (No drebin thing popped up after i blew it up as is typical when taking these things down)
Wow, that database sounds awesome. Another reason why the MG franchise is my hands-down favorite.
So the database thing, its going to be sort of like a fansite, but better info?

I've heard it has something leaderboard related. I'm guessing you can see what emblems people have. But that's coming from the initial rumor that surfaced last month.
So the database thing, its going to be sort of like a fansite, but better info?
That's what it sounds like: storylines, character bios, etc. It would really be sweet if it were set up like the nodes in the Metal Gear Solid: Digital Graphic Novel...only about a million times easier to navigate.

Sorry, you have to start over. If you don't get that Drebin point pop up, you just killed someone.

On an unrelated note, can anyone help me:
How do you non-kill Screaming Mantis and where would her action figure be?

whee just beat it. Good stuff but I don't think i fully absorbed the entire thing since I didn't replay mgs 1-3 so some details were lost on me.

playtime: 27:26:41
continues: 17
alert phases: 81
kills: 348
Recovery Items Used: 48
Weapon types procured: 47
flashbacks watched: 178
no special items (do the
sorrow and mantis dolls count as special items? Guessing not since it was used on mantis and gotten through natural course of the game anyway. Also what about the 'special' effects of the ipod songs like enhanced accuracy and stuff?
)
points: 255,968
Title: Eagle

other badges gotten: eagle, hawk, gecko, frog, inchworm, lobster, hyena, pig, and panther

for playing through with no alerts/no kills, any tips
on fighting the b&b ladies
?
I want to play through using only the knife (except when the situation calls for otherwise) and kill as many people as I can, but I don't think you get anything special from that do you? lol

I know this is off topic a little. but can anyone point me in the direction of a place to purchase the soundtracks for each of the Metal Gear Solid games? thanks

Shoot her dolls, when she drops them, pick them up. Use the Psycho Mantis doll on her. Her figure will be down a little hallway type deal from the inner circle from the hologlobe.

No kills B&B, tranq guns and the V-ring shottys are your friend.

I just played through again. I am collecting Beauty pics in the white room. I got all the B&B dolls, missed one doll overall...oh well. I will just have to play through it again. I think I have gotten all the guns you can buy from Drebin without getting emblems.
I am wondering if the musket rifle has a secret tied to it... read its description after you buy it...
Every time you fire the gun in an open, outdoors area, it has a random chance of invoking a wind storm.

You can save at the Beauties you know. I found this out on my 2nd playthrough by saving there.

Stealth Camo is awesome by the way. I've already gotten enough kills for Altair's costume, and I've done Acts 1 & 2 in 1:33:XX. I hope throwdowns count as a CQC hold as I've gotten a few kills that way after knifing them that way. And I hope throat slashes count as knife kills too.
