Finally some good deals. I got the Saiyuki Reload Boxset, Paranoia agent Boxset (its cheaper at Transworld stores, but none around me have it in stock), and Noein Vol 1.

I'm really torn on buying the Samurai Champloo and Paranoia Agent DVD sets. I've already spent a ton of money on myself this holiday season, but damn those prices are good.

Yay! Koi Kaze artbox! it seems like a little thing to get excited about, but I've been wanting one for the DVDs I bought during the big Geneon sale, and the best price I'd seen thus far was $21. Picked up Giant Robo too, just becuase.
Damn I need to choose between X and Vandread now. Will probably go with X.
You might reconsider that- X is proabably the better series (I haven't seen it yet, but I'm familiar with it), but the Vandread boxset has spotty availabilty, especially at a good price. (My boyfriend was hunting for it for about 2 years. We found it for sale 3 times- once at a con for $200, once at a Best buy for $150, then finally bought it during last year's Rightstuf sale- they hadn't carried it before the sale, either.)

That's the reason i'm torn. I have a HK of Vandread I got off ebay because its simply impossible to find it at a good price. I am leaning much more towards Vandread now simply because I know I love it.

If I already purchased all 8 columes of X during the Geneon blow out, is there any reason to get the remix? I havent opened them, so should I sell the 8 volumes and get this one instead? Im just wondering about anyone that knows the differences between this and the original

None of the Transworld stores in my area even have Paranoia Agent anymore nor do I think they actually did

oh by they way, if you haven't seen the original Saiyuki, then would Reload be a good place to start?

Not really, Saiyuki Reload for lack of a better term is the 2nd season of the series (Gunlock is the 3rd). The original Saiyuki is a must see. One of the best dubs IMO (ADV really hit it on the head, its such a shame that Geneon completely destroyed the reload/gunlock dubs).

My recommendation is to keep your eyes out for the complete thinpak @ Buy.com to come back in stock (will be $36.91 shipped after GCO).
When I go to the Columbia House site, it says 5 for .49 + 5 to buy later - is there some kind of coupon to get a better deal?
I hate to quote myself, but does ANYONE have an answer on this? I really want that Samurai Champloo set, but the box isn't worth $30 to me if I can get the DVDs & complete my commitment to CH for around $50.

I haven't seen the remix version but the originals are good quality. Quoting rightstuf: "newly encoded video and audio, including new 5.1 surround sound for both the Japanese and English tracks". So I guess if you need 5.1 surrond sound and an artbox, then go ahead and get it, but if I were you I'd skip it.

This link should help you out; check out a few of the threads (especially the enrollment code thread)
Whats the difference between the dvds in the Trigun Collectors set and the Trigun Remix dvds?
Trigun Remix is all the discs from the 2 collector sets in seperate cases. No differences in the discs themselves

Not talking about Cag tendencies, how high would someone pay for an entire X series, non remix, on ebay maybe? Maybe I can get myself the X remix along with trigun (i already have the first one, I want to see the gun ho guns)

Anybody know what is currently on backorder? That would definitely help me out on what to order.

Also, how is X the series? What's it about or what can you compare it to?

Anything marked as 'On order from Manufactrer' is on backorder. Should be on the item description page, with the runtime and whatnot.

X (as far as I know, anyway), is about a fellow named Kamui, who learns the final battle for the fate of the world is upon us. There's the Dragons of Heaven and the Dragons of Earth (I forget which side wants to destroy us and which wants to save us), and lucky Kamui gets to pick a side to lead- basically, he chooses the fate of the world.

It's originally by CLAMP (Magic Knight Rayearth, Chobits), if you want and indicator of what kind of story to expect. I liked the manga, the movie was a bit odd (understandble, given everything that had to hit the cutting block.)

I'm still debating on whether to go back and get this one or not.

O.K. so I just finished watching the new Hellsing Ultimate Volume 1 and all I can say is that I want MORE! No, I need more! I must have it. I demand it. There's no way in hell I can wait until March 31, 2007 for the next DVD. It's just not fair. To all otaku and anime fans out there, if you haven't gotten the new hellsing yet, then what are you waiting for. Those reading this thread add that one item to your order or pick up the awesome LE tin from BB. This show is that much worth it.

Edit: By the way, what's the difference between the LE tin from BB or the one going for $45 at Rightstuf currently?

This one actually:

I purchased the Best Buy exclusive. The only difference is the Best Buy version does not include the Arucard Relief Figurine with US-Exclusive Coloring. It is the 2 DVD set with tin package.

is there any reason to get the trigun limited edition 2 if i already have the older complete box set sealed?.. is it worth it to rebuy the series again? is basically what im asking

Someone else gets it. This is good. Hellsing Ultimate is insanely good.

Anyway, I might get Noein Vol. 1 from the Rightstuf sale... have no idea what the show's about, but I think it looked kinda cool when I saw a couple screens of it...

I think Trigun's complete garbage to be perfectly honest, but Trigun Remix is supposed to have vastly superior video and audio quality. Kinda like the difference between Cowboy Bebop's original release and Cowboy Bebop Remix. If you're set on watching a terrible show like Trigun, it's probably worth it to upgrade to the new version.

Sorry to go OT, but you can get the Hellsing Ultimate LE version (with the Arucard Relief Figurine) at Buy.com for $23.68 (33.68-$10 w/Google Checkout) plus free shipping.

I ordered it yesterday and I got the shipment confirmation today! Even though it's Sunday, which is odd. Anyway, great deal IMO. I can't wait to see it, I love the Hellsing series so if this is better like many have said I'm know I'm going to enjoy it. :D

FINALLY!! Somebody else that recognizes what awful, awful tripe Trigun really is!

I totally agree as well, Trigun is a terrible show. I have tried to watch it a couple of times and I just can't make myself watch it. My friend tells me to stick with it gets better, but I don't beileve him.

Its got great music, in my opinion. And some of its concepts are (were) pretty out-of-the-ordinary

SPOILERS

a preacher that carries a cross that doubles as a minigun?!?! A gunslinger that destroys cities, kills no one?! Im sure it was big when it came about, we are talking about 10 or so years ago. Thats like saying Astro boy is nothing special. Of course it isnt, NOW.

The music annoys me, and if any those concepts were made *interesting* or *human*, I might actually think more of the show. I guess I just see it as a drab, colorless, poorly-animated show filled with annoying characters in annoying situations (except for maybe the last half of episode 25, which managed to hold my interest).

Oh, also, Astro Boy was popular in Japan, while Trigun is relatively unknown. Similar to Escaflowne, Trigun has a bigger fanbase in America - though only Escaflowne actually deserves the praise, in my opinion.

I agree with your sentiments toward Hellsing Ultimate. The show started off a bit iffy IMO, but then kicked so much ass it isn't funny.

I must disagree with you on your Trigun sentiments. I really like the show. I enjoy the concept and find it very entertaining.

I enjoyed Trigun. I didn't really care for the animation at first either, but the show grew on me, and I thought the characters were likeable. The whole "No one has the right to kill another human being" bit did get annoying though.
Everyone must buy Escaflowne and Genshiken if they don't own them already, or they will be labeled communists.
I'm not intrested in escsaflowne, but i really want genshiken. I would get it if i hadn't spent too much money this month.

Thinking about picking up Votoms. I'm afraid of it going OOP or something. I have the first set already but the whole collection for that price and the packaging looks pretty sweet.

if i may ask...what the hell do you mean "The whole "No one has the right to kill another human being" bit did get annoying"?!

i thought trigun was an EXCELLENT SHOW! i could watch the entire show in one sitting....no problem...but i wanna know what it is with people being so shallow like this?! honestly...

I ended up getting Vandread. I've been eyeing the Sakura collection for a LONG time now. I will probably either get it in a month or 2 or it will finally be sold out.

Booooo.. I really want Samurai Champloo but I can't pay by credit card right now.. and they don't appear to accept money orders or PayPal. Blah.

The pacifism got annoying because it was basically a blatant rip off of what Rurouni Kenshin did... except Kenshin actually did the "no kill" thing without pissing me off. Vash absolutely refuses to lay the smack down on anyone and he's a complete pussy for the entire show. I'm not saying that Trigun needed to be a straight up action show like Hellsing -- I just think that they could've handled that aspect of the show much, much better. As in, if they had changed anything, it would've been better than the dreck we actually got. Vash is potentially the most annoying character in any anime ever and the way he goes about being a pacifist makes Trigun feel like a shitty attempt at copying the superior Rurouni Kenshin.
if i may ask...what the hell do you mean "The whole "No one has the right to kill another human being" bit did get annoying"?!
Well you see, the show is about a gunslinger basically. And to have the main character dealing with the angst over the killing of others repeatedly throughout the series isn't what everyone wants in a show.

i thought trigun was an EXCELLENT SHOW! i could watch the entire show in one sitting....no problem...but i wanna know what it is with people being so shallow like this?! honestly...
Sugar, I'm glad you're a fan of Trigun and love it. That you enjoy Vash and Wolfwood so much. That's wonderful.

But you know something, I love colored Christmas lights. Absolutely LOVE them. When I can, I try to make special trips out to San Antonio, Texas just to walk along the River Walk at night and see the beautiful colored lights in the trees reflecting off the water. To me, that's about the best thing in the world. That's how much I love colored lights.

Everyone else in my family loves plain white Christmas lights. They think they're quite beautiful.

What's my point? My point is, just because you adore something, you fully appreciate the essence and nuances of ...well anything, really... it doesn't mean everyone will.

We're all wired differently. Yeah, sometimes I get impatient when a person doesn't see quite how awesome something I love is. Maybe it is poor taste or ignorance (on who's part, theirs or mine?
wink.gif
), but when you get down to it, we all see things differently for reasons we could only begin to explore.

I am wondering if Fushigi Yugi is good.

I read the reviews and details of it but I want peoples opinions on it.

whoever saw this anime tell me :D
