well, i finally converted to firefox tonight after Internet Explorer was pissing me off too much...

Got my ass kicked today in NeoGeo Battle Colisseum on campus (PS2). The loading is a bitch, not because it takes long time to load, but just because the game stays on the loading screen even when it's done loading...? badass game, other than its flaw... oh, and Terry's sprite is crap... it's just a converted version of his KoF sprite made to look like the Mark of the Wolves sprite... very badly done. The main characters have some cool stuff like the girl's "Tetris" super move

Too bad I am a horrible 2d player... plus I get too discouraged against high level players that don't let me pull any punches...
...and the sad part is hat there was no Tekken or Virtua Fighter... but then again, at least it happened...

now what we really need is a Bloody Roar tourney !(jk)
We had a Tekken 5 tourney at the end of November, so they weren't going to have the same game for two tourneys in a row. As for VF, I don't know why we haven't had a tourney for VF4 yet.

ok, nvm what I said then. It's hard to cram anything else in with all those games going on.

i wanna do something like that down here, but everyone I know is too lazy to put something together... damn miami mentality! I would do it if someone else went in with me on doing it at least 50% on their part.
Does anyone else think the graphics in SFA3 for the DC are surprisingly blocky?
Hmmm interesting, I should to a side-by-side with DC and MAME.

Aren't there supposed to be some issues with the DC version, like it's actually less arcade-accurate than the PS1 version somehow? I think I read about it here somewhere. That's a shame if it's true because I'd much rather play it on the DC.
Guile - I think I messed up some where.

Anyways I'll be online tonight if anyone wants to play me me in SamShowV.
After I couldn't get into the tournament I decided to watch RAW and forgot to check back here. Just let me know when you want to try again or play some online.

... don't die out this post????

so, since DoA4 has been out for a while and most people who own it have gotten a good amount of time with it, what are your overall impressions now? and how bad/good is the online so far?

oh... and don't let this thread die off!!! its a mortal sinnister sin! or not! maybe...

just chiming in to say that karin is one of the better new additions to SFA3. her great comboing ability (combobility?) and personality makes her really bad-ass and annoying in the right hands.

She is pretty cool. I like her counters.

It's been out long enough that there should be enough people here that are up for a tourney.

lol, I post once and everyone pops in...

anyone think the fighting genre needs a new franchise? there's alot of new sequals, but no new franchises... I think the newest decent 3d fighter franchise was Bloody roar and the newest original 2d fighter franchise is guilty gear...? I know fighters are hard as hell to make due to balancing issues and crap, but I think the choices atm are a little limited...

haven't played it in weeks (sold off the 360 for college money) but I managed to land a good 40 hours or so in my 10 days of owning it.

Online needs health badly (thank goodness for the patch.) there were many noobs, so i got few opportunities for skillful matches. Rush downs are insane if you know what you are doing and the other guy has to be on top of his proverbial
shit-- defense, counter and parry wise, or else he's dead meat. Also, speed takes precedence over priority, but specific attacks can crush a fast move, so tactical poking can be helpful. that aspect is a lot of fun.
--I hate the online interface in general. i hate having to use the lobby system for every match because it's really time consuming. i hate the fact that there's no option for single optimatches like the capcom lobby system. waiting for 20 minutes for your next match is just not very cool or user friendly. not that it doesn't have it's good sides...

character balance is excellent (but supposedly part of the patch will be further balancing of the cast)

the story mode rocks, the AI is difficult but not cheap. it forces you to learn the game (like Ninja Gaiden.)

if i still had my 360, i'd still be playing it nightly. since i only have a ps2, I play VF4:Evo and 3rd strike exclusively these days.

from IGN.com's diary of DoA4 online, it sure seems like there are too many newbies or non-competitive types of players... it annoys me whe something is overflooded by washouts... but then again, it's not like DoA is hard to master in 30 min...

hell yea

OTG VCs rock.

well, Karin is one of the few SF counter characters and her fighting style is unique, so she has alot of advantages in different ways moreso than other characters.

my usual fighting gamer group is getting together tonight for our usual friday fight night..

we traditionally set up 16-man double elimination brackets for 3rd strike, but we wanted to try some different shit afterwards

anyone got any ideas for any team games? we're thinking 4 on 4 with randomly selected games and keeping some sort of point system

i also thought it would be fun to play some older/obscure/less frequently played fighting games competitively.. i'm thinking tmnt: tournament fighters, but does anyone else have any other suggestions?

if you have a multitap Rival Schools (or project justice) is great for party play. Tekken Tag also, but that's not too obscure. Don't know what else...

Damn, I wish I had at least one other person in these parts that were into fighting games. I've gotten pretty rusty since I've moved to Tarrytown. The broadband sucks ass here so I get nothing but lag.

awsome... lol the prince from Katamari is in T5DR... kinda:

lili.jpg

and don't forget M. Bison

PICT1362.JPG

lol.. yeah the Lili item is awesome.

Tekken 5 DR is a great game... I really hope it's the game that's being announced for PS3 launch. That'd be awesome.

Quick question. Is the Tekken 5 stick with game worth 90 bucks? There's one copy left at my EB and I'm on the fence.

Anyone know where Tekken 5:DR is at in NYC? I'd love to play this at an arcade, but I really don't want to get my ass whipped by the guys in Chinatown.

The stick is good, and if you love Tekken then go for it. To my knowledge the closest place to you that has T5DR is Rhode Island... They have it at a Tilt over there.

Rhode Island......4 hours is a long drive to play some T5

I'll stop by EB and snatch up that stick tomorrow, Mark Man.

Thanks brother.

but wasn't it speculated that it was most likely Tekken Tag Tournamet 2? I would actually like that alot more than DR, since T5 physics with tag play just is badass.
Made a new sig, how is it? Think I'll make it a little smaller, seems kinda big.
I like it. Don't change a thing brother.

woohoo half hour road trip!

Anyone here have experience with the little adhesive d-pad substitute for the PSP?

Capcom is giving it away if you pre-order the game from their site.
I'm trying to decide if it's worth it.

If anyone has any pictures or info I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

THe game looks fantastic. It plays a lot better then Darkstalkers did for PSP and the Dpad that came with works very nice. When it comes out in the US i suggest picking it up, or if you have no patience like me, import it now.
That's all I remember seeing about it here.

are you talking about Street Fighter?

I cannot wait for SFA 3... have enough credit at Gamerush so it only comes out to about $15 out of pocket, this is one of the games that made me originally pick up a PSP.

I've seen mostly good, and like one or two bad reviews on gamefaqs.

I need it, since I think I stripped the screws on my PSP  but $40 for yet another port of SFA3? i dunno, even $30 would've been kinda questionable. I'm hoping they go on ebay for cheap or some respected 3rd party company wil come up with one, like Hori. there's no good reason why they should be capcom exclusive forever.

Playing fighting games on a portable system has always been weird for me. SNK vs Capcom MOTM is the only fighter I really enjoyed. But I'd love to see the PSP version out in the collection, due to all the extra characters.

Thinking about it they could really make the Alpha 3 version badass. Add in a Tag mode and I'm sure it'd be well recived. However Capcoms collection's leave pretty much everything untouched, so I see no chance of that.

SFA 3 is a great port on PSP. I've had the import for a little over a week now. The pad is also pretty good. It's a nice upgrade from the original. If you like alpha go pick this up you will not be disappointed. Probably the best portable fighter I have ever played.

... there is a tag system in the new SFA3... so you got your dream...

I love the sig by the by! Is that Billy Kane sprite the new KoF2003 version of him? He looks damn badass! I can tell his design was based off a design Falcoon did...

Looks like on Capcom's site you get the D-pad cover for the PSP if you buy SFA3 through them. Can anyone confirm if it's pre-order thing or if the PSP D-pad cover comes with every copy of SFA3.

Also, I know this is off topic but does anyone know of any Xbox fighting games that support custom soundtracks. I feel that this would be an awesome additional to any fighting game, especially the prospects of reusing music from previous fighting games.

The D-pad will come with preorders through capcoms site only. And only for a limited number so it is not even guranteed if you preorder it.

hmmm, now I don't know what to think... I've picked up almsot every us release of this game but I may actually pass up on this one... Personally I say someone needs to start making full body mods for the PSP... I wouldlove to convert mine into a Neo Geo pad controller... or something...

I got some good VF4:Evo play today... i really suck...man. everyone got owned by this one korean guy friend of mine (what's new). It was fun, but we didnt really have any top players... other than my friend.

Also, everyone who plays 2d fighters in my area keeps talking nothing but possitive about the new fist of the north star game... I dont think it's that super, but whatever...

My campus is also getting new arcade machines in, and I am going to see if I can put a request in for T5DR... It would give me a good excuse to learn the arcade stick better.

anyone up again for putting together an online CAG tourney via MAME or Xbox Live? we got alot of good play doing that, and I think everyone would enjoy it. I say we need to get everyone back into the fighting mood.
