Yeah, I meant PK Flash. Sorry, it sounds like Ness yells "Cross" and although I'm an EarthBound nut, I think after hearing something that you believe is Ness yelling "PK CROSS!!!" over and over again, you sort of cease questioning it.

I'm also so ignorant with Pokemen (is that how you plurarize Pokemon, or am I pulling a Cosby?), that I had to go ask my roommate what Porygon's name was, because I couldn't find it on Wikipedia, and I wasn't going to spend more than a couple of minutes on that shit.

Yes, I can play with Pichu. Pichu's only problem is that his smashes are hard to land against someone proper. They are, however, quite powerful, and if you hate the Earth as much as I do, and pretty much go air, you can really throw someone off. Strell would probably tell you that I jump around an awful lot...

A lot of people are naming characters that I don't consider the best. For example, Young Link - his smash is really lacking. Did anyone name Zelda in non-Shiek form? Similarly, I can't say that I like the original Link as much anymore. I used to like him back before we were all about the L and R (and Z) buttons in the game. At this point in time, most of his moves waste too much time, since the spin, the grab, and most of the smashes are likely to hit nothing but air.

My top character right now must be Dr. Mario. No idea why, I'm just fuckin' unstoppable with him. I will go down in seconds if I use Mario, just. I've been opposing the ignorant "Ganondorf is just a new skin for Captain Falcon!" No, no they are not. Even with a move-set that seemingly the same, the timing and power of said characters is drastically different, and hece provides for a very different playing style. To review, kids: Fox != Falco, Ganondorf != Captain Falcon, and most importantly, kids, Dr. Mario != Mario != Luigi.

Gooey Bomb is an excellent item idea, and I'm very glad they are going to name at least a couple of things on that blog that we have not seen before.

I love Super Smash Bros. Melee a lot.

I really hope the game does have more than 1 more 3rd party character. They've got pretty much every significant Nintendo character in there, so why not expand into other series that helped get Nintendo where they are today? (This means Mega Man.)

I think you should have broadened your bet to 1 or 2 more third party characters.

Dude, it's a bet. The whole thing is about taking risks. Again, I claim: ONE more apart from Snake. I doubt that SMMM would bet against "1 or 2." (I know I wouldn't). It's a friendly bet (only $5, I wouldn't bet something I can't afford), and the reason why it's so fun is because both sides are making fairly strong claims (ONLY ONE MORE vs. AT LEAST TWO MORE).

Actually, SMMM has better chances, because all he's betting for (unless he corrects me) is that I'm wrong. If Nintendo do not include _any_ other 3rd party characters, by the code of honor, I'd have to pay up. SMMM can be nice if that didn't cross his mind and correct his stance, but then again - it's a bet, and that's a risk that I took. I'm a gentleman when it comes to these things.

I could see Nintendo only having two third-party characters. Snake and either Sonic, Mega Man, or someone else.

So I like how they sectioned off the characters "Veteran" and "Newcomers". I wonder if there will be a third section..That section being the people who were new to Melee, and returning. People like Peach, Zelda, Falco, Bowser, Gannondorf, ETC. What could their title be..? Hmm.. "Returning" ? LOL

I would imagine Pit's arrows being similar in control to Link's Boomerang or Yoshi's Eggs in Melee.

It would have been cool 15 years ago in the midst of the "Nintendon't" crap. But he's tired character now and way out of his prime.

An equivalent fight would be like Mike Tyson fighting Robocop. Or maybe George Foreman fighting Robocop.

Robocop is gunna fucking win.

Although, I do belive that Sonic makes more sense than Snake.

Toad is one of the weakest characters I have ever seen - unless he was a pokemon-style side-character who comes out to cause some sort of random damage. I think it would be ridiculous for Nintendo to create a bunch of non-toad moves (the only "Toad move" I could come up with is picking up items quickly, and that's just useless) and then assign them to him to make Toad a fighter. Please Nintendo, Please. I'm begging you. Please don't hit my favorite game with the stupid stick. Please.

I would also like to see Fox receive a reverse-vasectomy and return in all of his Smash-64 glory, but I will still love the game if this doesn't happen - so long as Nintendo doesn't bow down before the idol of mindless combo attacks.

Toad kicks ass in Mario Kart 64 and all the other ones he is in. And you know what Chosen, you might be on to something there. After watching the preview video and seeing how everyone was doing sick combos, Nintendo might be going the button memorization way. I would so hate that as well becuase it took skill to get a good 50% damage combo in Melee.

If you mean that performing Peach's Down Smash dead on takes a lot of skill, I guess you're right. That move alone does more than 60% damage.

Every move in the preview so far has been to display how much a character kicks ass. You can do the very same in Super Smash Bros. Melee, and it would look the same. Surely, they don't want Meta Knight to get two punches in before Marth or Roy Down+B his ass back to where it blongs (naturally, they weren't in the trailer, my point is that such a "combo" is breakable with current game mechanics.)

Considering how sickly good my current roommate is with Shiek (he is, without a doubt, the best played I have ever known, sorry Strell), it isn't uncommon to have someone get you over 100% while they are still 0%. It isn't uncommon, however, to flip them with your cape along with "the proverbial script" and score the first KO in the round.

I remember the first time I saw the SSBB trailer. Meta Knight got a "oooh!" from the room. Pit got what I call "Crazy Nuts University Graduation Dance." Zero Suit Samus got a "wooo?" and Wario got "figures." Snake, however, really excited this one guy that haven't owned a Nintendo console since SNES. And I mean REALLY excited. That asshole didn't even want to stop telling us how "awesome" and "bad ass" this game was going to be. I really don't want Smash Bros. to become the "Happy Game Mascots Fighting Club."

I think that we're pretty safe with Brawl being amazing. It's been foretold by the stars.
 
I really wouldn't mind seeing a teamup with square and bring an FF character into the mix. It would be nice to have Cecil, Kain, or even a character from FF6 in this game (we did have Roy and Marth).

I really don't think this would take anything away from Brawl at all. I believe it would make it much more enjoyable. With Melee, I enjoy playing with every character. It adds replayablility in every sense (better than any other game imo). The more characters the better.

There is too many games, now the problem with that is you put X character from one game, you got fanboys from another game whining that their favorite character is not in the game. I don't want to hear every final fantasy fan try to argue why their favorite character should or should not be in the game, and in the end there is no winners, lol.
 
I'm not really interested in third party chars in SSB. Snake is okay, but I don't think he fits well. I just hope that's the end.

Sonic wouldn't fit IMO. I'd rather see Megaman or Bomberman.

Better yet, give us Waluigi or Toad.

Waluigi..ugh, no. He's just some filler character created by Hudson(?) to fill up spots in party games. Giving him a spot would be taking away a spot from someone much more deserving.

They want to expand their market. Or in other words, get the guy "that hasn't owned a Nintendo console since SNES" back with them. Might seem like a slap to the face to die-hard Nintendo fans that stuck with them, but its a good move.

Toad's not even CLOSE to being the fighter that Princess Peach is!

Toad should be in it just to complete the SMB2 cast. Just give him all SMB2 moves and he'll be fine.

Well-placed sources at Nintendo inform me that Toad is in fact a jiujitsu specialist and quite a scrapper. Not, as noted, a match for Princess Peach's Eagle Claw, but that's a tough standard if you're looking to pass judgment.

DK is the joke in the bunch. The dumb ape still hasn't figured out dressing himself past the ridiculous tie--even that idiot monkey has the sense to squeeze into a vest and ballcap. If the gorilla can't figure out a pair of socks, what makes you think he has the intelligence and discipline for serious martial artistry?

hey man ease off the ape family! They're the coolest characters in the gaming world! :D It's just the kongs clothing style...take superman for comparison. I mean if he was smart he'd wear brass knuckles and steel toe shoes along with a suit that didn't let kryptonite come in contact with his body xD

Superman's an idiot. Wearing a suit of lead would be very smart, but he wouldn't ever think about that. He barely knows how to hide his identity. Glasses..hahaha

What exactly are we discussing at the moment? The last few posts just confused the hell out of me. Insight into DK's awesome clothing habits, however, were hilarious.

Well, that may be too far... This has probably been adressed many times. But I hope that Brawl will include more variations in costumes, or at least a wider selection of colors to choose. A custom color menu/option would be even more awesome. A blacked out character would be awesome, or a rainbow adorned character if that's your thing. Assuming that they will still go through with the online play, having a customized character would be pretty awesome, I think.

However, some of my favorite chars seem like they will be taken out of brawl. Seeing as Roy was such a low tier character and Nintendo no longer needs to advertise for Fire Emblem 6, he seems like he'll be out (though he obviously is my favorite Melee character). And I don't mind similar movesets like Ganon and Cpt. Falcon, or Roy and Marth, because despite that, the two chars still played very different.

Although I'm feeling a bit skeptical about this game, I hope Brawl will be better or at least on par with Melee. And yeah, I really don't think Snake fits well into the Smash scene.

I like that idea but how about this instead of those tropheys you get in Melee, how about having the same idea but this time you get random clothing/items to put on your characters, it would me more practical and awesome at the same time. Plus online customization.

Yeah, that's actually a better idea I think. Kinda like Tekken in the arcades. Those trophies in Melee I thought were pretty much useless. Give my Mario a Frog Suit!
