(Part I) The Target clearance thread

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction."

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store.

Nothing for me today. I was hoping Logan's Shadow would have dropped. Tourist Trophy was $5 but I wasn't dying to have it so I'll wait until next week. Maybe a few games will drop and I'll get a few and use the $5 off coupon.

I didn't come home empty handed though. The CC across the street had Splinter Cell: Double Agent (360) for $16.96. They price matched the $10 off coupon for 110% so I got it for 5.96. :)
 
does anyone have the DCPI# for Heavenly Sword? Strange how they are all different comapred to Target.com's DCPI's. I'm tired of driving around so any help would be appreciated

OP might want to update the price list; I'm not sure how one of my Targets still had these...but I found 2 NHL 07's for Xbox 360 for $6.24.

At one of the Targets near me, it was $24.98. It has been that way for over a month now and they still had a ton of copies (Cherry Hill, MD).
 
Guys, I know that the clearance stuff is YMMV, but has anyone tried asking their local target to match one that is like say 30 miles away. I spotted heavenly sword for 41.98 the other day about 40 minutes away from me. I didn't buy it, but I'm second guessing myself. Thanks for the input.

I don't think they price match clearance items. I am sure if you can get one to do it, it is totally YMMV.

Thanks thebob. I figure the closer the stores are to each other, the easier it'll be. And I don't believe it's clearanced at my target (literally 3 minutes from my house) yet. I'm going to try just because I'm at my target almost every day for one reason or another.

It hit $12.48 at my home base Target this week.

And yet they still won't drop Jeanne D'arc from $20.98.
 
thanks. my target has a few copies but it hasnt dropped from $24.98 in a while. speaking of jeanne d'arc, the mt. vernon bb has this on clearance for $9.99.
 
Saw Timeshift for $20 - $10 coupon = $10 each so I picked up all 20 copies they had to build a wall.

Just picked up American Idol for $15 (after coupon) and The Cars/Open Season/Fusion Frenzy 2 triple pack for $5 after coupon.

Does anyone know where this stock comes from? Does the website warehouse ship em to individual stores? Cause I swear last week none of these games existed in my Target and now there are a bunch.
 
I went to my local Target* yesterday and found copies of the Darkness (360) scanned in at $19.99, a bunch of Tony Hawk's Proving Ground (360) had been moved to clearance and priced at $41.98, and a copy of TimeShift scanned in at $27.98.

*Local Target is located in Western NY.

The Target in Highland, IN also was the only one in the three local Targets (Valparaiso and Merrillville being the others) that had The Darkness scan in for $19.99. So when I was up there yesterday I used the $10 off coupon and smiled all the way back to my car.

Highland also had a bunch of the 360 Tony Hawks at a $20 or so clearance tag mixed in with some PS2 titles, a few CoD2's at $13.98 and pushed all the way in the back was a sealed copy of Super Smash Bros. Melee for $20.98.

TimeShift also scanning for $27.98 in Merrillville, the only store of the three that actually still has it in stock, and plenty of copies. Gonna use the $5 off and $10 off in conjunction to snag that one. Cheaper than the Game Days sale price, too.

I realize this might be a weird question to ask in the middle of a Target thread, but since you mentioned COD2 and are a member of Goozex, I have to ask: Since COD2 is a Premium hits collection, would it still be worth it to buy it to trade on Goozex? Or are people there skittish about PH editions of a game?

I was looking at copies of COD2 and wondering if it was worth it, but buckled and took a couple of Halo 2 Xbox games that were also on clearance instead.

Some games have separate entries for PH versions, but CoD2 doesn't. I have found that its a crapshoot if you get a PH/PC/GH version from goozex, but probably likely if you think about it. As for CoD2 the game only trades for 400 points but there are 25 available and nobody has an active request for it so it would more than likely sit in your collection for a very long time. The thing about Goozex is that alot of CAGs are members so anything that goes on clearance shows up there very quickly (for example Orange Box (ps3) has a ton of copies available now because it was recently clearanced at Target). Also you can expect older games with low demand to be in your available queue for a long time as there are very few active requests for these games and a ton of copies available.

Good luck trading it on Goozex, there's about 100 other people trying to trade it as well.

I think people are a little picky about PH editions of games, that coming from a friend who uses Goozex as well. So I would always PM the trader to see if that's okay. But I'm keeping my CoD2 for now.
 
GLOCKGLOCK and Regian, thanks for your help. It looks like I was right to save my $10 coupons since I don't like the COD series (Don't shoot, don't shoot!) and was just looking for something to trade over anyway.

Man, you guys are lucky. There have been almost no 360 games on clearance at any Target near me in weeks and when I finally found some last night they were priced as such:

:360: CoD2: $13.98
:360: Harry Potter OotP: $14.98
:360: Tony Hawk Proving Ground: $27.98
:360: Timshift: $27.98
:360: Triple-Pack: $20.98

Only 1 store (out of about 5) had any of this stuff and they are at least a drop (if not 2 for Timeshift and THPG) away from the prices everyone else is seeing. So I won't be able to use the magic coupon on them ;).

Only Cars was the "right" price and I got one (for free after coupon of course).
 
I saw 3 copies of Timeshift for 20$, a few Tony Hawk's for 30$ and another 360 battle/shooter game (can't remember the name now) for 30$ all on clearance. Picked up Cars/The Bigs for free. : )

I know this is clearance, but has anyone found Lost Planet Colonies at Target yet?

Do you happen to live in the Southern California are? That's about the same prices I was running into on my local targets but I didn't see the triple pack. I would definitely get that one if only to have a few games for my nephews to play when they're over.

- LOTS of Heavenly Sword for $29.98...waiting for the next drop for that hopefully
- A fewTony Hawk for $25 (360)
- Donkey Kong (Wii) - $25
- Soldier of Fortune - $29.98 (360) - I wanted this, but not for $20
- American Idol for 360 $25 (1 or 2 copies...I should've got this as it trades good at BBV apparently)

A few random other games...nothing exciting

I picked up Timeshift for $10 after the -$10 coupon. At the Target in Coral Springs, Florida. The one off sample and 441. They had some Tony Hawk, plenty of Viva Pinata and Cod2 all for $13.98. I picked up Never Winter Nights 2 for $7.50 and the Black something expansion for $5 at a different target this weekend.
 
Last year my store followed the 30% then 50% then 75% pattern everytime for everygame. They would also be about two to three weeks behind on the drops. Then they got a new kid in electronics this year. All the drops started at 50%, and he would even mark them a day or two early. Games would magically appear on the clearance shelf that weren't there weeks before (I assume because this kid actually went through the game cases and organized stock). My store was a gold mine. Then a couple of weeks ago, he vanished only to be replaced by some MILNF who rejects my coupons and can't mark down clearance worth a damn...360 American Idol = $50, Heavenly Sword = $42 only one copy that didn't even last a day. If somebody finds my electronics kid, please return him. Thanks.

I've noticed a trend that some stores either start clearance at 30% or go straight to 50%. Here are some stores I've visited in Virginia:

Gainesville and Stafford both start at 50%.

Fredericksburg, South Stafford, Cosner's Corner, Potomac Mills, Manassas Mall and now Culpeper all typically start at 30%.
 
picked up soldier of fortune payback for 360 marked $29.99 used the coupon and got it for $19.99 i kinda felt like this was a high price for this game but there were only two left and i just watched the new rambo movie so i figured it would be worth it just to shoot off some arms and legs. it was also saw timeshift for 19.99 gonna go back and pick it up tomorrow, damn having second thoughts on games

Did you try to get the 5$ coupon to work on it as well? I was going to try to pick this one up (saw at least five copies for 30$ each) using both coupons for 15$.
