This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction."

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store.

I was at Target today and saw a little sign regarding the death of the $5 coupon and how they weren't accepting it anymore. It was right over the Electronics cash register.

I managed to pick up a copy of Heavenly Sword for $15. I was really surprised, as this Target usually sucks with markdowns.
 
My Target sucks Heavenly Sword is still $29.98 and only one copy left they had about 10 when it was at $45. Nothing else very good and scanned a few $9.98 things just to check GH2 PS2 and I forget what else but the tags were all correct. Did buy a official Nintendo brand Wii steering wheel for $9.99 on sale this week so it wasn't a total loss.
 
Had it not been photoshopped by those fuckers, the $5 off coupon might have survived till the end. Oh well.

On the other hand, the magical $10 off Xbox 360 game coupon still works, long after its intended expiration day.

That sucks, but you never know - it might work in your favor. Some of the best deals I've found at Target are ones that nobody else on CAG has reported finding, and it sounds like your store might be a candidate for that. :)

Why put all the blame on Fat Wallet?

Different coupon, sure, but if they were willing to do it three months ago I'm sure they still would be now. I can't think of a deal or coupon on CAG that hasn't been exploited by some greedy idiot, and I'd bet money that, even if they weren't dumb enough to brag about it here, there were still people from CAG making and using those modified coupons.

Either I'm taking "magical" to mean the wrong thing, or you're a fucking hyopcrite. I hope it's the former.
 
All of mine sold out of heavenly sword at $30... I think its worth it at that price if you guys still see it. I bought it for $40 brand new when it came out and it was worth it.
 
I snagged 2 HS @ two different Targets. One for me and a friend. 15 bucks each and they were the last ones that them. Might be some more at some of the other Des Moines Targets though.

Maybe Target should've done a better job of educating their employees about the coupon before sending it out. Certainly this does not justify what the thousands of people did to abuse the crap out of it but the main reason they did was because it would automatically work for all purchases over $25 as long as they could get the cashier to scan it.
 
picked up karaoke revolution american idol bundle for the 360 at $25 clearance today.

this was at the mall in wheaton, maryland. there was one left plus 3 heavenly swords for $30 each.
 
For those in Anaheim area in SoCal - if you are still looking for Heavenly Sword, check the Target on Lincoln(between Euclid & Brookhurst).
It is tagged as 59.99 but rings up 14.98. I saw about 8 copies there

Given the amount of different toys or games any one store could carry, I'm not sure if your second option is feasible.

As for the other two...putting the burden on the cashiers isn't always a good idea. Anything that's going to lengthen transaction time like those methods would is bad, and leaving it up to the cashier's interpretation just leads to inconsistent rules and trouble.

Target put faith in the people that they sent the coupon out to; 85,000 customers, most of whom probably wouldn't bother to use the coupon, isn't a significant figure, even if you assume that some people in that pool find ways to abuse the coupon. When the coupon gets posted to forums en masse and people start modifying the coupon or trying to figure out how to weasel around the restrictions for it, the rules of the game change and the chain either had to react or to take a much larger financial hit than they had planned for.

Well, I'm sure the computer could have been set up to have a complete list of DPCIs that are toys and have it check for the first three-five digits to see if the items qualified.

I just dont get why people would goto the trouble to photoshop something over 5 measlie dollars on a 25 purchase....that's like saving you a whole whopping 20%....well i rest on what i said way back when the $10 coupon expired and people were still using it....i said that this will kill the coupon and future ones so now we will probably never see a coupon like these again cuz of dumbass cheating bastards who killed it for all of us!!!! Please stop the coupon fraud....target is our friend and has been giving us deals and if we ruin that relationship then the deals will stop...have some respect and courtesy for our business partner in getting good game deals!!!!
 
You'll be surprised how far people go for a buck...

I work at Target and I've seen abuse of this coupon. Some guests came up and they had about 20 of those things. Of course, I scanned them because I was told that all coupons were golden but the problem was that it needed a supervisors approval. So my line was gummed up, while they waited for me to get approval for theri coupons. Then the ladies go an give their remaining coupons to a couple of guests behind them so I have to go through the whole thing again.

It's okay to make one or two copies of a coupon but the fact that the people who did use it made a ridiculous amount of copies is probably the reason why the store isn't taking the coupon anymore. Plus it was just too convoluted to use at my store.
 
I think it's kind of hypocrite from target, don't misunderstand me i loved the 10 off x360 coupon uncle target gave to use, that was awesome but...

If corporate would have really wanted , the use of the coupon would have been restricted to toys (come on! how hard can it be to automate coupons on your own system) but they allow the abuse simply to generate traffic and hype to their store and they just love the free advertisement on news, web and forums("come to target we are really affordable just like walmart")

but Target gave me a lot of freebies and discounts for x360 so, next time they run awesome deals and rebates i am there.

Man that sucks, i live in the inland empire and with gas at $4.50, it would be to expensive to drive out to anaheim. All the targets by me are all wiped out of clearance games as well.
 
My local Target has about 20 copies of Timesplitter for $10. Yeah...still waiting on Heavenly Sword to drop to $15 here.
 
The OP needs to add to the title: "5 off 25 coupon is now null and void!" or something to that effect. We are probably going to end up having 5-6 MORE pages about people talking about the death of the coupon or people bitching why they couldn't use it anymore.
 
Well, I went in to 2 Targets expecting to see all these signs about the coupon everyone mentioned and neither had a thing about it. I hadn't brought one in because of this thread. But I guess it doesn't scan any more? They certainly didn't have the register notes or note on the recall wall though...

Anyway, I went to a Target that resides in the Twilight Zone where time stands still or something. The Karaoke Rev American Idol game was still $34.98. Timeshift was still $27.98. Viva Pinata still $20.98. Heavenly Sword still $41.98. It was freakin' ridiculous. On the flip side, though, I found Tomb Raider Anniversary (Wii) and Forza both "out of the system" which is weird since they were $27.98 and $19.98 just last week so they should have had one more drop first. The guy at Electronics was confused but he finally looked up the last prices (which were $7.48 and $9.98) and then someone else told him since they were clearance to take an addition 30% off :lol:. I also slapped on the coupon that shall not be named, and got both for a total of $5.xx. Nice!

Strange, though, that this Target did drop those games to the final clearance but without ever actually having them out at that price. They just made Tomb Raider go straight from $27.98 to $7.48 and then out of the system. That has me worried for all the other ones I mentioned. They will probably just keep them all at $34.98/$41.98/etc and then pull them completely in a week or two when they make them go through all the subsequent drops at once :roll:.

At the second store they are a bit better though still on the last drop compared to what most people here are seeing as American Idol was $24.98, Heavenly Sword $29.98, and Viva Pinata $14.98.

(And yes, all prices I mentioned are from scans - I never trust the stickers)
 
Picked up last copy of Heavenly Sword today. Was marked $41.98 but when I price checked it came up $14.98. When I went to Target 2 weeks ago didn't see a copy so it was weird they had a copy in stock.

Same thing happened to me. One day a few weeks ago I just walked into my local Target, saw a soccer mom and her kid picking thru the clearance section, passed by took a quick peek at the UMD and found CV:DXC for the PSP for 7.xx from 29.99. Snatched it before she could see it. I was surprised since 1, that title has never been at that store before and 2, to see it just dropped like that. All I need now is a PSP!

I just bought NHL 2k8 (PS2) at the store in W. Melbourne, FL for $4.98.
They also NCAA 2008 (PS2) for $9.98 but I passed on that one.

I went to the two Target in Eugene, OR and none had Heavenly Sword in sight :cry:

The clearance titles left were mostly junks. FWIW, one store had a crap load of Scarface PS2 for $4.98. I don't think they would be moving those :lol:

Btw, one of those stores had the $5 off toy coupon termination notice posted on every register and the other did not.

Been done before, and posted here actually. Someone flipped the 6 to a 9, so it would be valid until Sept. It was slightly obvious, so it was pulled along with all discussion of it (page 33 - it's the two hour gap after Pootie Thang's post and before LinkinPrime's removing of it).

Just tried using the $5 off coupon today on bully:scholarship edition and it wasn't scanning in at all? does anyone know if that coupon is dead? I've used it before and scanned fine for anything over $25.

np. target coupons are pretty much over now that they've clamped down on both coupons. even though some may scan past expiration, i don't think they'll put out another coupon like these for awhile, or it won't be nearly as worth it without printouts.
 
Yeah, I've been reading all the $5 off coupon dead posts. I was offered one of these Photoshopped coupons before here and decided not to use it. Hell, the actual coupon worked fine with no alterations, you just needed to be a smooth talker for someone to scan it in. My key phrase was "Oh, it didn't scan in?".

Worked every time except the first when I got to a checkout line with the manager who simply just denied it. Walked out and returned the next day and got it working over at the electronics department. Good coupon, sad to see it go because of the Photoshop jerks.

And on a completely unrelated note, it appears that the clearance rack in Merrillville, IN has either been completely sucked dry or they've got rid of a bunch of items. It was damn near bare when I checked it yesterday. Only two things that caught my eye were a CoD2 PH for $13.98 and a Hitman: Blood Money Blu-Ray Strategy Guide for $1.24.
 
what a bunch of dicks altering these coupons and screwing everyone over.... Where are all the people who kept saying "if it scans, we can use it however we want" now...
