This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

Yeah, that's it. Considering single figures are about $7, all of that stuff for $14 is QUITE the steal.

I also picked up a $70 mega-blocks castle for my boys for $17.

i wish u the best of luck. i remember seeing like 6 sets of the gi joe playset, i grabbed one and went back to that same aisle and there was 1 left - this all happened like in 2 minutes. there was a lot of moms there.

because its on clearance at the $40 dollar price... the first clearance is 30 percent off which is 27, second is 50 percent off which will be 20, and the last drop will be 75 percent off which will be 10 bucks. it will hit 10 bucks in a couple weeks and i think $10 is a better deal then $20
 
some jerkoff bought all 4 of the 25th anniversary Optimus Prime packages 20 minutes before I got there this morning. However, I did get a snow boogie board for $14.98, and it's on tomorrow at my buddies house. a bunch of 30+ people drinking and sled riding...should be damn fun. Not exactly game related...but should be damn fun.

I found one of those Joe packs marked at 13.74, and Short Fuze, Steeler, and Cobra Commander were taken out of it :/
 
I managed to get a 25th Anniversary Prime today, the box is pretty beat up but I don't care. $17.48 was a great price to add it to my collection. Although, I've already bought all 16 other previous reissues of him, so this was totally unnecessary.
 
This was probably my worst year yet for Target clearance toy finds. Had my pick of items at 50% off. As soon as everything hit 75% off there must have been big announcements on Slick Deals, Fat Wallet, etc. 3 aisles of clearance toys reduced to nothing in a few hours. No Prime or G.I. Joe for me. Ah well, stocked up on a few board games and toys for future birthday/Christmas gifts.

scored disturbia bluray for 8.76 (as is) and hot shots golf ot2 for 7.48. finally things are picking up for me. going tomorrow to look for those optimus primes, I can't resist a cool toy.
 
did anyone ever encounter one of those Wii portable screen, or the memorex 8.4" dvd player? I've been looking for them since the price reported but can't find any T.T I need either one for work.
 
This is the first I hear of this Optimus Prime toy. I would love one. Is there any way to check if a store has any online. I went to target online but couldn't figure it out.

Not bad, would pick up PGR3, Tomb Raider U, and maybe Last Remnant if they go below $20 I will check out my target tomorrow

Scanned a copy of Jericho for the 360 @ the Newburgh, NY, Target and it came up out fo system. Didn't feel like finding someone to hand scan it so I put it back. Was alking away when a guy with a hand scanner asked if I needed help. He scanned it, quoted $12.48 (there was a 34.98 sticker on it) and even rang me up.

I'm anxious to check my local Target but I've been bed-ridden since Wednesday thanks to oral surgery. By now I'm sure they're all sold out. :(

but yeah.. if anyone would be willing to be my savior and go pick up a clearance battle set for someone in need (mostly referring to me :)) let me know, I would make it worth the trip. perhaps I could buy it off of one of you good folks via paypal or through ebay. I know I'm the new guy so if you're weary on my feedback rating or anything let me know and I'll present proof that I'm trustworthy enough to deal with! :)

Might want to wait.. It ust dropped to $49.99 yesterday. At least it did at GameCrazy. So a price drop is in the very near future.
 
Just picked up Haze foe $12 at Woburn, MA Target. Not a bad FPS. I loved the Time splitter series so I needed to give this a chance at $12.

Its very much YMMV but usally most do it on Mondays mine has been doing it on Monday and Friday's though since holiday season
 
In case anyone is interested, I saw the Sony DCR-SR45 30gb HD handycam camcorder clearanced at $339.98 (15% off). Not sure if that is a good deal or not but the DPCI is 056 14 0488.

I guess Loss Prevention took notice of me when I took some pictures of the camcorder mentioned above. I noticed that the pictures I had taken were all blurry so I went back to write down the DPCI. As I was walking away, I saw a lady from LP running to the area I had just left. She saw me and just scowled at me. I just smiled and walked away. I think that is the last time I ever do that since it seems that behavior gets their panties in a bunch.

I had yet to see Lego Batman in stock at my local Targets but I found one that had 16 copies in stock. They also had 11 copies of Too Human. I'm hoping to pick up both of those at 75% off.
 
You guys probably get asked a lot, but how do these clearances work? I went to my local Target and the video games section had all the games behind the glass. They were all overpriced (COD4's still $60? @_@)

Is there a basket with clearance items or something? I couldn't find one in the video games section, so is it located in a different area? I know that some deals are YMMV, but are Target clearances in general YMMV as well?

Target clearance is YMMV in respect to the time that it will take a game to drop to a lower price. All Targets will eventually drop their prices on clearance games to 75% off. The issue is how long it takes them to get there because each Target drops their prices at their own discretion.

The clearance section is usually found on an endcap in either the video game section or the DVD section. Sometimes Target will mess around with you and put the VG clearance section in a random department. Basically, just walk along the walls of the whole store until you find it or just ask. ;)

Regarding games locked up behind glass, FoS keeps a nice list of DPCIs for all clearance titles in the OP. Write down the DPCI for the games that you're interested in and type the number in the self-scanners located in the store. In case your Targets don't have numbers on their self-scanners, you can also print out the barcodes and use them in-store. Instructions on printing out the barcodes are also in the OP.

FYI, most targets don't mark down on mondays, please do not post stuff that will get customers pissed off at us when they walk in demanding a price cut. Every target store follows what corporate dictates and they do not mark down every week, there are factors tied into when markdowns should happen and when not to happen. Stores will be assigned a day that markdowns will occur, but does not mean it happens every week. A clearance item could stay at the same markdown for weeks.


Just a heads up as well, read a article about how retailers are ordering less games in the bad economy to keep inventory lite. I seriously doubt you guys will be seeing as many clearance games from Target as you have seen in the past. Do not be surprised if clearance on store shelves is very dry for this up coming year.

Well that is just weird. Since again in my experience they do the different departments at different times. So electronics are normally Monday and is that way for most store I have gone too. That doesn't mean that every Monday like clockwork but it happens on Mondays at my Target.

Also I doubt that Target will stop clearencing games. They still need to get the stock out of the store. I see plenty of room in the display for games but they still put them on clearance. Sure they will be buying less but doubt it will make it so they don't do clearance.

Interesting point-- none of the Targets near me have full display cases at all, but they seem to keep putting games on clearance I never remember seeing. (like I'll read here about great deals on some game I never remember my Target even having in stock so I assume I won't get it, and next week, what do you know, it's sitting there at 50% off) It's like they have a super secret stash of games hiding in the back that you're supposed to know to ask about, and when they done sell, it's off to clearance they go!

Most places on the web have reported Mondays as electronics clearance. Also, if I remember correctly a page or two back, someone posted links to a blog where someone spells out the schedule for what gets clearanced on what day.

Finally, I do agree with you that this will be a dry year for clearanced items. It's been pretty barren throughout January when it's usually one like that for a couple of weeks. Might be good for us, though, so we can catch up on our backlog of games! :D
