This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

Just a general question, considering you have hit 4 Targets by 10:30 in the morning (EST); do everyone's Targets really update this early on Mondays? Most of my locals don't touch their clearance racks till afternoon/late afternoon on Mondays, if not later in the week.

It depends when the Target associate gets around to doing the price change. It varies by store and by how fast the employees get around to doing it, really.

My friend works for Target and tells me that each department updates clearance merchandise on certain days. For example, Electronics on Mondays, Toys on Wednesdays, etc.

I'm bummed about none of the Scene-It's being around here. I have a friend who's been bugging me for months about picking that up and have been waiting on a good price drop.

Oh, well.
 
Went back to the Target that i picked up a bunch of SvR2009 from and there are still 20 there from last week.. So i bought some more to get my brother a 360 for less than $100..
also saw the lady who does markdowns at this target and she was telling me if SvR2009 dont sell out this weekend, Next monday they will be salvaged or sent to goodwill..

Two of my Target clearance is most just all these copies of Guitar Hero 3 for the 360. Along with that are those shovelware titles for the Wii. I never see any PS3 games.

went to my target this morning, whellman still holding at 30(ps3), but picked a copy of pop for friend, no new markdowns this wek that i saw.

I like updating the thread nice and early in the week, only had a few updates to do. I haven't noticed anything new that isn't already mentioned-- AZ CAGs looking for Smackdown vs Raw 2009 for 12.48 might be able to find some at the Ahwaktuke (Phoenix) store at the I10 and Ray. They had eight copies left, after I got mine for the Amazon deal, this morning.
Also, very interesting to hear about the restocks on Far Cry 2 for 360. If they want to keep restocking 75% off clearance games in the future, that'd be cool.

FYI Afro and probably GH3 won't drop much more, if they do it'll be to $10 as Mirror's Edge did. $14.98 seems to be the limit most games will drop to at Target now if their original MSRP was $60 because that's 75% off. If Target sees it as 75% off $40 as they did with Mirror's Edge, then it will get to $9.98.

That's not an exact science but a general rule of thumb.

Concurred. A few of the Targets in NoVa have :360:GH3 for $7.48. There are a butt-ton of copies left to boot.

Just came back from the Vista Target in SoCal. Prince of Persia finally dropped to 14.98 (yesterday it was 29.98) so I picked up a copy. There were a few more PoP left, a few Peggle for DS at 13.98, a couple of Lord of the Rings: Conquest for 19.98, one Smackdown VS Raw (360) for 24.98, and some Loco Roco for PSP for 13.98. No more MK VS DC, they all went for 29.98 unfortunately. Oh yeah and a buttload of GH3 (360) for 7.48

I have 5 targets all within a hour to hour and half drive depending on traffic and I would say its a 50/50 split. There are 2 that I know for certain do the markdowns first thing Monday morning, they are done by 9am at the latest so those are the ones i hit first, there are 2 that is hit and miss and the last one never follows a schedule, the can do mark downs on a monday one week and then do it on a thursday the next...

Finally found 360 POPersia for $14.98 ... missed on LIPs ... sigh ... wanted the flashy mics to draw attention away from my very off key singin....cough...singin is a stretch ....
 
So what's the deal with these target clearence items ? yesterday I was at a target and all the games on the clearance section were $29 or more. Saw PoP, Afro Samurai and Tiger Woods Wii at that sticker price. Are they supposed to ring lower at the registers ? Kinda dissapointed when I saw the prices. Are these YMMV ?

You're a CAG vet...you should know that you have to show the cashier your CAG card for the clearance prices to be activated.
 
The prices are definitely YMMV because my Target seems to have higher prices than most of what is posted here. The clearance section is usually near, but not right in the video game section. It is usually an endcap facing the wall a couple of aisles away that is marked "Clearance" at the top.
 
I agree with some of the prices being YMMV:

Lips - scanned at 34.98
Lord of the Rings: Conquest: scanned at 29.98
Monsters vs Aliens: scanned at 34.98
Guitar Hero III: scanned at 20.98

I'm not sure if those prices will drop soon but this is what they scanned at when I just checked about an hour ago.
 
Nothing new to mention at the Target in Costa Mesa or Huntington Beach. Santa Ana did have a copy of both Afro and POP for $15 which I didn't purchase. These three are within 5 miles of each other.
 
well I was able to find smackdown and PoP AND mk vs dc....unfortunately they were all still $41.xx. hopefully they'll drop soon but if anything they'll probably wind up like the rest where some (*^&(*^@#$ takes it at $29.XX. more than likely some fat soccer mom, ebay schmuck or some SD/FT troll who swooped it out from under.

is Afro still around in the IE? can't seem to find one anywhere.


oh yeah if anyone wonders why they can't find the Logitech G11 out here too there's an SDer who lives out here who posted it being $37 a couple of weeks ago. So yeah of course all of them vultured the things...good thing i picked mine up early...for $47.XX :bomb:
 
Target (Independence, MO) Afro Samurai (360) $15, Prince of Persia (360) $15 and Scene it: TBO bundle $20 (been 3 weeks & still not drop).
 
Has anyone seen Afro Samurai (X360) for $15 in the Chicagoland area? ...and possibly WWE SvR 2009 for $15 or cheaper? I never find any good deals in my area and I would love to pick up these games, especially Afro.

Went to 5 Targets today, but only one really had anything:

Left 4 Dead - $14.98*
Lord of the Rings: Conquest (360) - $14.98*

*Both were stickered $14.98 but rang up $34.98 and $19.98 respectively. The cashier manually adjusted the prices back down.
 
I got Peggle for the DS for 13.98 and it's a very fun little puzzle game. I'm having lots of fun, and I was even going to buy it at full price. It's things like this that keeps me going into the Targets.
