Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

The Legend of EL HOARDO as told by Strell
No cankle too big and no score too small,
The one and only EL HOARDO.

He'll steal your stash - gonna take it all,
That's the one - EL HOARDO.

He's gonna run down all the aisles
and snatch up all the loot,
And he's feeling really confident
in his nipple protection suit!

Awesome sideburns and a dapper mask
He's at your local store,
Gonna clean out everything
And then go back for more!

Who's the guy in the Star Trek shades?
He's the man they call EL HOARDO.

His boots are secretly roller blades,
There he goes! EL HOARDO!

He's got a cape and it's totally sweet,
A flash in red and white,
Calls his fanny pack his utility belt,
He's ready for a discount fight!

You'd never think he could run so fast,
With a gut of giant size,
Asks all the ladies if they'd like a ride
On his Starship Enterprise!

What's that sound comin' down the lane?
It can only be EL HOARDO.

His stubby legs are gonna bring the pain,
Brace yourselves - EL HOARDO!

He packs a sword, it's a replica,
Like Zorro in disguise,
Gonna leave an H scratched on the wall,
Then he'll move those ten ton thighs!

Knows all the price drops all the time,
Has inhalers to survive,
Lives in a basement at his parents house,
At the age of thirty five!

That's the one who got your penny guide,
The stallion called EL HOARDO.

He's got his Rascal parked outside,
That Man-of-Men EL HOARDO.

EL HOOOOOOOARDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

ElHoardo1.jpg

"You just got...EL HOARDO'D!" __________________

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.
I picked up Guitar Hero 5 for $14.99 today. Worst. Game. Ever. This was the only game I ever regretted buying from Target on clearance.
what makes it so bad?
what makes it so bad?
It has a god awful setlist, and the overcharting of the songs is just horrid. Also about 20 more reasons that make Rock Band more superior to Guitar Hero.

+1

after GH5, i basically have given up on that franchise.

The only thing I saw was the Real Fishing game for the :360: with the fishing rod for $59.99...

I think I will keep my eye on that one and hope to see a quick drop since i doubt many if anyone will pic it up

Makes sense. I'm glad it ended with WT on the PC.

Went back to Military Highway Target tonight. Couldn't resist :ps3: GH: Metallica $9.98 this time.

Also found a stashed copy of :ps3: GH: Smash Hits $9.98 (!!!). Whoever hid it is going to be pissed, because I haven't seen another :ps3: copy at any Target on this side of the HRBT.
I actually regret buying it at 40 around black friday :\

Speaking of that Target, that one section near the tv, it looks like a vomit of clearance items. Either the department doesn't keep it neat, OR the locals just trash it.

Out by Manassas West it was a bit neater. This one dude with nasty cough kept on eyeballing everything I had in my hand. Picked up GH:GH, Ghostbusters (I know I am asking for trouble with the Secure rom on this), B:AA (even though I beat it on the 360, the mods are starting to come out for it on the pc), TF:ROTF. He left only to come back to see what he can get. I did see he had Yugio (or whatever its called) since I guess that dropped to 12.xx but no interest in that game/series plus my nephew doesn't have a 360 yet.
I see you are still as paranoid as ever that someone is stalking you for your clearanced treasures or anyone mildly looking through the clearance section is automatically pegged on your radar as as stasher.

You've moved into my territory...I hope I finally get to meet you
Ah, well, I unfortunately won't be having time to do that anytime soon. Take the info or leave it, but I can look to my right and see the bs2 box with the sticker on it.
Sure you can.......I have never seen a game go on clearance that fast none the less a Collector's/Limited edition.....Maybe because it didnt ?
Well, unless you live in Target, the last copy at your house is probably that much because you haven't marked it down yet. :)
haha I just came back to this thread and read your post and it made me laugh because I made a mistake LMAO

Ahaha . . . Arctic Monkeys, Band of Horses, Beck, Blur, David Bowie, Duke Spirit, Elliott Smith, Gorillaz, Iggy Pop, Kaiser Chiefs, King Crimson, Love and Rockets, Muse, My Morning Jacket, Queens of the Stoneage, Screaming Trees, Spacehog, T Rex, TV On the Radio, White Stripes, Wolfmother . . . I have to say, I've been looking forward to this setlist more than any other music game I've seen so far. To each their own, I guess.

Of course, I refuse to pay more than $15 for a music game, because I don't play them often enough, and it still hasn't gone on clearance here yet . . .

Price from 3/8
Rohnert Park Target

PS3
Hawks 9.98 (last copy)

Price from 3/9
Novato Target

PS3
SW: Force Unleashed $4.98 (one or two copies left)
Singstar Queen $9.98 (Last copy)

The novato store has remodel and the games are now in glass weird case. You can look at the game with some security wire attached to it.

PS3
I did see Planet 51 for 12.49 or 12.99 at both Targets.

It helps if you specify which console version you saw (at least for multiplatform games).

One store here did that recently too. On the one hand, it's nice because you can look at the back of the game box, which you couldn't do with the old cases. On the other hand, it's more spread out and cluttered, and I feel like I'm more likely to miss something when looking at it. I also can't imagine it's very space efficient.

Agreed. I'm calling Bull-Shit.

I don't see why people make up bragging stories like this. If it's true, congrats and I could possibly see it being true as two factors, 1 PC games seem to be going faster on clearance than 360/wii/ps3 games (well at least in my area) and two, a lot of people are starting to not buy Collectors edition anymore because mostly they are getting too expensive and not worth the price you paid for. So of course target wants to get rid of them because they are kinda big.

For a SE that retails for $89/99, is one of this year's biggest releases, not to mention dropped less than a month ago...there's not way in hell Target would be crazy enough to clearance them...at least not this quickly and at that price.

By the way, check your PMs ;)
Sure you can.......I have never seen a game go on clearance that fast none the less a Collector's/Limited edition.....Maybe because it didnt ?
Actually, the fastest a game has gone on clearance was PS3 Golden Axe. Came out on a Tuesday, had a 30% off clearance sticker six days later on Monday. There's been another game or two that hit clearance in less than a month. Plus, CE/LEs get clearanced faster than regular editions because of the space they take up.

However, we're talking about a massively anticipated title, probably one of the year's biggest and it just came out and he says he already got it at 75% off. It'd be hard to believe it hit 30% clearance that fast, but the average clearance item gets dropped a percentage value roughly every two weeks (roughly, even though some items skip values and others take forever).

Grabbed Guitar Hero Metallica today for 9.98 for PS3 They had a few more copies
As well as Singstar Queen...9.98
And a few of that HAWX game.. We have a bunch of thieving ass hoodrats in our area so the games are in the locked case mixed in with the regular games for both the PS3 and Xbox

Your choice if you guys decide not to believe me. Pulling the Seniority card, I've been around here a lot longer than you, and can tell you that I haven't lied about my reports. ;) Didn't RE5 drop pretty quick in one location only months before it hit the clearance price anywhere else? Besides, I reported a few pages back that I saw this game on clearance, but it didn't hit $20 then. I was just as surprised as you guys when I saw it.

El Hoardo is everywhere and nowhere. El Hoardo has many forms but is rarely seen. El Hoardo is like an evil Santa Clause who appears at every clearance rack on the day prices drop and takes everything away from the good boys and girls. El Hoardo then squanders his spoils as Gamestop trade-ins, at flea markets, and on ebay. Beware of El Hoardo!
I've read about sightings of El Hoardo, but just couldn't believe to see one in real life. Seeing one dude balancing all those games (some in security case while some weren't) in one gigantic stack was truly a sight to behold. I hope El Hoardo doesn't wipe out all the clearance games at the East Bay Targets. I'd be a very sad panda.

Does Target print the ASIN number on receipts? Either way, I don't see how difficult it would be to take a photo of the actual receipt or scan it...trust me, it shuts a lot of mouths far quicker than just saying that you got a deal like this.

Sidenote: *Points at register date*

Finally picked up Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 :360: on the cheap yesterday, $14.98.

Seems like I've been waiting a really long time for this one to drop. Now I can take if off my wishlist.

Immediately unlocked Hulk, Thor, and Jean. This retailer specific bullshit really bugged me. Yeah, I know them greedy Acto-MF-vision pulled the DLC content. Oh well, I'll still enjoy it cause I love action-rpg superhero games. If I wanted Magneto and Cable, I'll just go back to X-Men Legends II: ROA.

LOL! oh, and a fu activision bastards.

Look guys, I'm done. Let the next guy who finds it at this price do the work of taking the photo, connect the camera/ phone to their computer, transfer the image, resize it in photoshop, upload it back here, etc. Look guys, I've given you my word, and people shat on it. I'll report on other stuff, but I'm done with this topic.
Picked up:

:pc: Bioshock 2 Special Edition (HUGE BOX!!!) $19.98
:pc: Batman: AA $12.48

Saw :pc: TF2 for about $5
Hey everybody, let's tear this guy a new asshole because some Target manager with a price gun probably needed to clear shelf space at his store. I'm sure if you berate him enough he'll fold and give in to your every wish and desire.

Hip-hip-hooray for high levels of undeserved self-entitlement and childish skepticism. :bouncy:

Thanks for this, now I have something new to punch in to the magic price machine thingies! And swell find, I'm somewhat jealous - I don't actually want the Bioshock 2 game, but I do want the stuff in the CE because it looks fun.

p.s.
Tekken 6 :360: dcpi - 207 22 0426
:360: wired controller dcpi - 207 00 0574
gears of war 2 (from the goty ed) dcpi - 207 22 0281

Priceless. :applause:

hordak and sonic - I don't think the vast majority people in this thread thought hordak was lying. It was two people and one of them has proven himself to be some ADD addled kid who is new around here. If anything, if I hear about an incredible deal, I just get excited because it might hit that price at my store soon. Tekken and Prototype haven't even hit the clearance cycle yet around here. But I'm glad to know people are finding it cheap because I know it will.

The only item from this last year of drops that never hit my stores was the Brain Age DSi bundle. And they're still in stock!

Hell, i'd grab a 19.99 bioshock for the goodies and sell the game itself on ebay.

where is the dcpi located,on the receipt. As I would like to know it for band hero ps3, i'm tired of asking eployees to scan the price.

PS3

207-24-0300 Band Hero
Still full price for my location

it's also on the shelf tag or price sticker. It starts with 207 for video games. I usually just grab a game to scan and then also put in the dcpi of the game I want. People look at you funny if you just use machine without something in your hand for some reason.

On the price tag/label on the shelf. It will be in the bottom left corner. Usually in this format: 000 00 0000

Hordak - thanks for posting about the Bioshock 2 CE. I'll make sure to check my local stores next time I am out. Don't let a couple idiots discourage you from posting finds.

Think about it guys, that Bioshock 2 box is huge, it doesn't fit on the standard racks. Yea it is a top release, but this is target we are talking about, a discount retailer that competes with WalMart. The person who wanted to pay $30 more for a Bioshock CE went the GS/BB/Amazon route and had it pre-ordered months ahead of time. The average Target shopper isn't paying for a CE version of a game when there is a standard copy sitting right there for $20-30 less. I can see the Target Buyer agreeing to take the CE versions of the game, realizing they aren't selling and quickly deciding to put them into the clearance cycle.

Also why the GH5 hate? I liked the game and the setlist. A huge improvement over GHWT. They implemented features that we are still waiting on from RB (challenges, support for non standard bands, ability to play on live with guest accounts, ability to progress your career by playing with randoms online). For $15 you should check it out, especially if you did not like GHWT. Don't get me wrong, I like both RB and GH, but GH got it right with GH5.

360 GH5 is pretty good. Playing with your avatar is a great addition. Also being able to play one career and being able to change instruments, and difficulty is change long over due.

With the free songs 90 songs for $15 bucks is a pretty good deal I'm glad I picked it up for the price.

Setlist is good for GH5, that's not my complain. Although with setlists, it's all about preferences.

I think I just don't like the GH interface and gameplay compared to Rock Band. I know it's subtle but that makes all the difference.

Wait, would using the DCPI tell me if the actual price is different than the price tag one, or what?

yes, type it into the red scanner and it will show you the price it will ring up at.

Some Targets don't have red scanners with input. If so, you're SOL.
Checked two stores last night for Bioshock, no dice. All I found was the 360 one full price and the box raped by spider wire.
I have found 3 copies of ME2 CE that i couldn't buy because they'd been raped by spider wire. It's a sad thing.
Some Targets don't have red scanners with input. If so, you're SOL.
Yea, some stores do not have them, although I'd say 90% of the ones in my area have them, but as always, YMMV. I have found lately that even when the stores do have scanners often they are broken, or have had buttons removed, which makes it a pain. If your stores do not have any self scanners then you have to get an employee to scan it with a price gun or at a register.

If you think something has dropped and an employee tells you that the price is what is on the shelf tag, ask them to scan the item to verify. I have probably found my best deals by using the self scanner or having an employee scan an item to verify the price. Recently the BRB SE Bundle comes to mind.

Yea, those are on all the ME2 & Bioshock 2 CEs that I have witnessed at my local stores. Thing is they are behind the glass case as well. Since they are supposed to make you check out on the spot back in electronics on items they take out of the glass case, I'm not sure why the spider wire is needed? Especially when they destroy the case by putting it on so tight. They really tear up the Bioshock 2 CEs, so I'm not surprised they are hitting clearance.

Yeah, whoever came up with that for a security device should be hit.

I recall the scene in the Simpsons where Homer is sitting in some advertiser's office, who is telling him, "Hey, you know those radio ads where two annoying people are talking back and forth to each other? I came up with that." Homer then socks him in the face.

How much can the "Find it at a target store" link really be trusted? It said Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 for the PS2 was avaliable at the taget near my house. Yet when going there last saturday night I do not recall seeing it. (Or hardly anything else on clearence aside from Singstar Queen)

It's not on clearance for the PS2. I've found the inventory checker to be fairly accurate...doesn't mean people don't steal games, or hide them, or employees can't make mistakes and misplace them either.
