Tecmo Bowl Throwback League Disbanded

Ok, so I decided to play a quick round in 3D to get used to it and I have my own complaint to make. When you score or during halftime, you all know how there's the cheerleaders, right? Well, I noticed each team only has a small amount it would seem (around a max of 6?). Don't know about you guys, but we need more eye candy than that. To make matters worse, these girls apparently never heard of the word union. They cheerlead for BOTH teams. While it would be nice for these girls to show some team loyalty, fact is, they're being overworked horribly. Especially in a high scoring game. Or so, I thought. Upon closer inspection, there's only 3 girls. The black, the blonde, and the brunette. And multiple copies at the same time. This is when I realized that these girls aren't being overworked, they're being held captive and cloned. That's just wrong on so many levels. And to make matters worse? There's no redheads. Where's the ginger love Tecmo? Seriously.

Personally, I find your use of the word "cheerleaders" offensive. We all know they are athletic supporters.

I find his use of the word "girls" offensive. Personally, I have always imagined that they were packing some serious sausage under them there skirts. In fact, I'm fairly certain that that is where the tuck rule came from.

[quote name='Matt Young']Man, maybe that is why Pure Apathy was able to get through my o-line every single time and either sack Favre or send him back 10 yards before the throw. Not that I think he'd exploit any glitch, but maybe he just figured out a move that works and didn't know about any so-called glitch, just as I did not.[/QUOTE]

No, my whole line got through so many times because you kept calling the same shotgun play and I kept guessing it. I almost always control the DE and sometimes the CB anyway.

I only did that once I got down by several scores. That wasn't what happened before that. I maybe lined up in the shotgun 1 out of every 4 plays before that because, well... there are only 4 plays.

Again, allow me to reiterate that I know you're not the type to knowingly exploit a glitch. That being said, this serious talk is ruining my jokes for future topic readers. :(

Well yeah I guessed your plays here and there during the game but I thought you were referring to the end of the game where I was almost always breaking through the line.

To be honest, the thing that pissed me off most was the fact that, on multiple occasions, you utilized a forward pass. Who on earth thought that would be a good thing to include in the game? Talk about a glitch. If you throw the ball forward and another guy catches it, you gain yards WITHOUT EVEN HAVING TO RUN! Ludicrous. Each time you completed a pass, I puked in my mouth a little bit. Eventually, it all built up and then it came out of my mouth and onto the floor. Then, upon seeing and smelling puke on my floor, I threw up again.

This game is an abomination; a pox on the sport that is football. Tecmo, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Just remember this gaffe when your child blows out his arm from attempting a so-called "pass" and has to have Tommy John surgery. That'll show you, Tecmo.

And what is with that bullshit of kicking the ball on 4th down? Good thing I put a guy back there to catch it, but that wasn't one of the 8 plays to pick.

I had someone do that to me once, and I was absolutely befuddled. The ball didn't go anywhere near the goal posts. Why were they kicking it, and where to? Why give up the ball willingly while you have possession?

And on top of that, those bastards tried to tackle me after I caught the ball! Talk about Indian givers. They gave me the ball, and not 10 seconds later, they were trying to hurt me. I could have been bruised or even broken a nail! Next time, I'm running the other way. I have enough problems with large men chasing me and trying to grab me in real life. I don't need more of the same in a game.

Enough complaining on a message board. I just sent an e-mail to Tecmo:

Dear Tecmo,

All you motherfuckers are gonna pay. You are the ones who are the ball lickers. We're gonna fuck your mothers while you watch and cry like little bitches. Once we get to Japan and find you Tecmo fucks who made that game, we're gonna make you eat our shit, then shit out our shit, then eat your shit which is made up of our shit that we made you eat. And let the makers of Yaris know- those motherfuckers are next.

Hugs and kisses,
Matt

ubernes and anybody else having connection issues, check this out. Hopefully it leads you in the right direction to solve your problems. This is for a Linksys router, but if you don't have a Linksys the steps should still be fairly similar. You may just want to google your specific router to see if anything is drastically different.

[quote name='ubernes']I'll try that out tomorrow. Waiting for this Mets game to end but will play when its done[/QUOTE]

Mets game is going 20 innings.

[quote name='ubernes']lol. I wish they won that one.[/QUOTE]

I read it like this.

As for tomorrow (and whenever really), I'd pretty much good whenever. This week, hard to say when I'll be on exactly as it varies because I wake up at random times from my post-work nap, but I'd say expect me online (or around at least) anytime between whenever I wake up - 10 or 11 pm EST.

Nevermind, your opponent posted the score. Please post the week the game is from when you post the score for everybody.

N8, are you going to replay your game with Pure?

[quote name='wildcpac']Just did that, I was going through the threads and noticed it on page 8 or so.

Standings shall be updated at the end of each day.[/quote]

That seems to be coming along splendidly.

Please copy, paste and save your schedule.

The schedule is all lumped together with no spaces in between weeks or anything. It's a chore to attempt to read it.

Anyhoo, peoples.... I'm Green Bay. Play me. You'll probably win. I have a Madden league game at 5 Pacific/8 Eastern, but I can probably squeeze in a 15 minute game of Tecmo before that. Afterward, I plan to play the Reach beta for hours. However, I will play any of you following my Madden game if you set it up in here and/or via PM before 8 Eastern. If it's after that, I'll be on Reach, and I'll be a lot less likely to switch, especially if I'm in a party, which I should be.

Sorry that I have been busy and updating the standings after a grand total of 5-6 games being played isn't worth it. Schedule has been fixed with results from games played already and is no longer an eye sore.

I have the following games left to play on my schedule. I'm going to have some time tonight, though I also want to fit in Monster Hunter Tri, so I won't be available too long. Maybe starting at around 9 PM eastern. Will any of you in the list be online then?

Code:

Week 2: Cowboys @ Cardinals EastX

That's terrible. Why are the team names not written in the teams' colors? Why are there no team logo flags (like in my sig) next to all of them? Why is there not a direct hotlink to both send a message on XBL as well as one to send a PM to the user on CAG? Where is the top-notch Angelfire web site with a league standings table?

Quite frankly, this is a very poor excuse for a league. If you can't even include those key features, we may as well pack it in now. There's no hope. Time to give up the ghost. Goodnight, sweet prince. And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest!

I have to say that it's a pain, figuring out what team is what person. I also don't understood why we are changing the team names from the names in the game to real team names. I like the goofy Tecmo Bowl team names and listing them as real team names is just confusing, with no payoff.

Also... though I haven't played in one of these leagues before, so maybe I'm being naive... but I rather wish we were following the actual schedule instead of just playing games whenever. As it is, it just feels like a bunch of games, instead of an actual league, and that seems less fun. Am I off in this?

Sort of.

Well I don't see where the Tecmo team names are. Unless you're just looking at the pixeled wolf-cat-fox things and guessing yourself, which could lead to even more confusion haha. It does help to call one team the LA Rams and one team the LA Raiders, I think.

As far as the schedule goes...its less league-like, but much easier for us to get games played. If you played a Madden league this year you'd see it could take up to a week to advance to the next week. Granted, the games are quicker here, but when you're working with 22 people with 22 different personal lives it's a lot easier to say, oh hey my week 14 opponent is on now let's just get it out of the way. Instead of finding your week 1 opponent MIA the day or 2 you're around to play and not getting it in until 5-6 days or something, holding the whole league up in the process.

Exactly and this was meant to be a casual league for fun.

I don't see how we can have fun without that Angelfire web site I mentioned. Have you seen the flame background? HAVE YOU SEEN IT? You can even have little icons that move. Maybe you can get a football... on fire! That's spinning! Confetti in the background; the NFL Films theme embedded in the main page's code...

Honestly, I cannot fathom how any so-called competent league owner could skip such a crucial step. Gotta step it up if you wanna hang with the big boys.

Now it's just getting annoying.

Maybe to you. The rest of us are having fun. Come on... give it a try. Plus, wildcpac never caught on that we were joking... and now you have ruined that. :'(

[quote name='hufferstl']I should be on tonight, so if anyone wants to get a VS. Washington game out of the way.[/QUOTE]

week 6 & 16 needed here and I'll be on tonight for a little while. Keep an eye out for crunc is and vice versa.

[quote name='crunchewy']It is certainly convenient. I do wonder what it would feel like if we tried to stick to a schedule, though... maybe painful. :)[/QUOTE]

Join the Madden '11 league this year and you will feel pain and frustration unlike never before!

[quote name='HydroX']There's this little thing called drawing out a joke way too long, and you have succeeded at that. #-o[/QUOTE]

If by you, you mean everybody except you, cpac, and crunchewy, and if by jokes, you mean multiple different jokes about different hings from various contributors, then yes. As for drawing it out too long... That just boils down to personal opinion.

Basically, the way we're doing it is known as a "flex schedule" (and an actual real one...not like MLB 10, right wildcpac?). There are several sports games that actually set up their leagues like this on purpose because it makes getting through the season easier.

The point is being able to play any person at any time. You may find this shocking, but probably 95% of online sports leagues fizzle out before they even get half way finished. Trying to go through one game at a time one week at a time would make things even worse.

wildcpac, as for me replaying my game with Apathy, it's up to him. Like I said, I don't have a problem taking the 14-7 loss. If he does want to replay though, I would appreciate it if he'd check this video out.

Even if his NAT is set up right, this can help speed up his connection. I already had my Xbox set up on a static IP with DMZ mode turned on, but I went ahead and tried this method out if only to change the MTU size. I think it's at least worth looking into for everybody.

well fellas, at 1:23 AM today just after finishing up some call of duty multiplayer, my Sony TV's lamp popped... TV is dark for now until I can get it replaced Thursday... not a huge time off, but wanted to let everyone know.

Malarkey! I think you're trying to take advantage of us with some kind of TV glitch. The next thing you know, you'll be 16-0 on Thursday morning. I refuse to fall for this.

Hmmm, Destro with a TV that has no picture vs. Matt Young at Tecmo.

I've got my money on Destro.

Nate my ports/nat have been open since I've been at my new place. This is just a case of the host having a good connection and player 2 having lag. It's apparently an issue with this game at times.

Pastapadre mentioned this on his website too:

Online play definitely brings in something new, somewhat revitalizing the game. Without it there really wouldn’t have been a reason to purchase TBT. My experiences with online have been mixed. I’ve had games that were really fun and lag free but there have been others that had lag which made it pretty much unplayable. There has been some speculation that the lag-free games are being seen by hosts while the lag-plagued games are from the non-hosting party. It is difficult to narrow it down to that but if true that would seem possible to address via patch.

I don't think I officially posted the results of this one, just mentioned it in one of my posts, but ubernes and I played our week 14 game the other night.

Week 14 - Bills 24 at Raiders 6

Also, I'm available to play if anybody is around. I'm Buffalo, so I can play anybody in the AFC East twice, anyone else in the AFC, and anyone in the NFC Central.
