Wasn't Nigel supposed to be injured for a period of time? Is he working through it, or am I missing something?

EDIT: Ron Killings is gone from TNA. Good riddance.
Wasn't Nigel supposed to be injured for a period of time? Is he working through it, or am I missing something?
He has a torn bicep (essentially the same thing Cena and Edge's torn pectoral muscle) but he's essentially decided to work through it so that he doesn't have to drop the belt without a fight and he can keep the belt's integrity in tact.

He got hurt in San Francisco and although he wasn't scheduled to, he came out and wrestled Chris Hero on November 3rd. He hasn't wrestled since then and I suppose he has been rehabbing heavily for his title defense against Austin Aries on December 29th at the 5th PPV.

I imagine that if he really does need surgery and more time off, he will be dropping the belt on either the 5th PPV against Aries or at Final Battle 2008 to Danielson, Hero, or whoever else gets the final spot in the fatal four way. However, I think he is... willing enough to put up with the pain to keep wrestling, which is why he also agreed to tour NOAH as well.

Wow... and I thought that 15th anniversary DVD was going to be a quick cash in on tommorow night's RAW. That's one amazing looking set... and a must buy on release day for me now.

Raw 15th Anniversary DVD

I thought that was the UK one.

WWE needs to run an angle like this. But, of course, they won't.

Schiavone is still a fuckin' maroon.

"Who is that?"

"I'm Fit Finlay, the Belfast Bruiser!"

"So he says he's David Finlay!"

EDIT: An early Christmas gift if you haven't seen this:

That 15th Anniversary DVD looks pretty solid, pity it looks like the 1 year anniversary show of Raw that featured Macho Man shoving a cake in King's face didn't make the cut... no surprises, I really wish I knew why Savage was black-listed from WWE. Vince seems to give everyone a second chance, for Christ sake he hired Eric Bischoff! Savage must've fucked (or tried to fuck) Stephanie that's the only explanation I'll accept.

I know I've banged this drum before, but Savage the first man not named Hulk Hogan to walk out of WM as champion, the man who main evented WMIV, WMV, and was in the WMVIII double main event, is some how not on the Greatest Wrestling Stars of the 80s dvd set? While freakin' Arn Anderson is? Not to mention other guys who accomplished far less than Savage, such as Greg Valentine, JYD, Bob Orton and Paul Orndorff.

Plus beyond Polka Dots what the hell did Dusty Rhodes do in the 80s? This guy was a star in the 70s... a strange rant here, but ya' gotta watch out when ZL starts on something like the Savage omissions.

Um, Dusty was a HUGE name in both the '70s AND '80s - primarily in NWA-affiliated groups. Savage was mainly an '80s and '90s draw, and was little more than a certain jerker for Bob Geigel in the '70s before Ole Anderson told Angelo that his son wrestled like a Savage, giving birth to the "Randy Savage" character.

All 15 WWE PPVs from 2005 in one box for $79.95.

Use coupon code "20" to get 20% off, though after shipping and tax, it's around $78.

Not a bad deal, but I don't recall 2005 being a great year to own all the PPVs for.
You'd probably be better off just going with the GIVEME code to get 10% off and free shipping.

They also have all 16 of the 2006 DVDs available for $99.99

American Gladiators 2007 = epic fail.

It might be good on TV, but ferchrissakes, it might have been the most unorganized thing I've ever seen. Half of the taping audience left midway through, leading to the crew BEGGING people to stay (most of the crowd was made up of delinquent youths brought in from group homes). We did get to see The Wall run a few times (the events are all taped in different order, and then rearranged in editing).

Hulk was actually only there for a short while - Laila Ali hosted most of the show we watched. Hogan told us to watch Raw on Monday though - he was going to be there, and said we should all tune in.

'05 had... um... the Rumble, Vengeance, ONS, Summerslam, and Armageddon as good shows, but I've already got most of them on DVD, so that deal isn't all that appealing to me.

More FPR stuff - Goddamn do I love this game - I tried out the K1 rules mode for the first time today, playing as Goldberg against CroCop, and after four rounds of mainly being dominated by CroCop, but scoring a few knockdowns, he hits me with a huge right hook with five seconds to go in the fifth round, gets a CRITICAL...and because the referee took so long to get over and signal for the bell, the fight ended in a draw, despite Goldberg being out cold. In-friggin-credible.

So, I've been watching the Ladder Match DVD the past few days now, and I come to Jericho vs Benoit at the Royal Rumble.

Now, this is the first time I've tried to watch a Chris Benoit match since the Raw tribute show, when I obviously was unaware of the true circumstances of his death.

I expected some awkwardness, but not like this. Despite the fantastic wrestling and chemistry between Benoit and Jericho, I find myself unable to stop thinking of how Benoit died. Each intense look on Benoit's face, each time he crashes into the ladder, each time Benoit hits his head -especially when Jericho smashes Benoit's head with a chair as Benoit suicide dives out of the ring- each of these incidents is a horrowing reminder of Benoit's demise. All I can think of is how much a monster this man was when he took his family's life and then his own.

I really find myself wanting to skip ahead to the next match, but I haven't yet, instead I'm now half paying attention as I post this on CAG. By comparison, I still enjoy watching the Eddie Guerrero and post-humously released Pillman and Road Warriors (Hawk) dvds. Neither one phases me, and in fact I enjoy remembering those three wrestlers each time I watch their dvds. Benoit though...

I can really understand why WWE is trying to erase Benoit as best they can, having watched this match I don't want to be reminded of Benoit again anytime soon.

Wow, so if the TNA game gets good reviews I'm pretty sure it will make me forget all about ever buying SvR 2008. I'm hoping they do to SvR what skate. did for the Tony Hawk series: make them look like crap and hopefully give them reason to revitalize their product next year.

i was going to try and link the chapter listings for the raw xv dvd list but can no longer find the article.... but when i viewed it last week i was rather confused at the fact that neither the eddie or owen tributes got even a bit of notice on any of the three dvds, if im wrong someone correct me.

The DVD seems like a celebration of the WWE storyline universe, and any of those tributes would make for a rather depressing tangent.

I agree. The only people that got a Hip-Hop gimmick to work was Cena and Men on a Mission IMO. I have never seen anyone try so hard to be cool that failed as miserably as Killings, although Shelton Benjamin is a damn close second right now.

No I'm pretty sure this is the match where Waltman went over Razor that first time and ended his losing streak.

The match you're thinking about is the rematch from a few weeks later.

Yep, the match that they always highlight is the one where the Kid broke his losing streak. That's why they alway have the audio clip of Bobby Heenan saying "he just beat Razor Ramon" when they show it.

Lance Storm's Review of ROH Man Up! It's strange to see glowing praise from him...

By: Lance Storm
The Fight Network

I ordered my very first Pro-Wrestling PPV last week. I know I’ve stated many times that I just can’t bring myself to pay for wrestling after being a part of it for so long, but after the insistence of Bryan Alvarez that this was an absolute must see show, I sucked it up and ordered the ROH Man Up PPV.

I don’t think I enjoyed the show as much as Bryan did, but it was still, absolutely worth the money and an extremely great show. There were a lot of things I absolutely loved about the show and a few things that I did not. The difference for me between ROH and WWE or TNA is that the things I didn’t like about the ROH show were more a matter of taste than anything else.

I’m not a huge fan of the stronger more dangerous, reckless abandon style of wrestling that is quite prominent in ROH. I’m far more conscious of people’s long-term health now that we better understand the risks of concussion and drug use due to injuries, so watching guys working this hard, taking such big risks, did detract from my overall enjoyment. That being said I still loved the majority of the show, and recommend it very highly.

I think the most amazing thing about this show, aside from the incredible work rate of the boys, is that the show was so amazingly easy to follow and get into. ROH doesn’t have regular TV, and I do not follow their product on DVD. There were maybe 4 guys on the show whose work I was familiar with, and I had no knowledge of the feuds or angles building up to this show, yet I understood and could follow EVERYTHING.

I remember every match; I remember all the guys who were on the show, and for the most part understand who were heels and faces, I know who was feuding with whom, and everyone’s general character and place in the company. Several people got over on the show and stood out, yet no one came off looking bad either. There were no run ins or bull**** finishes, and yet ROH still managed to tell some stories and extend some programs that I would like to see followed up. This to me is how a show should be booked. I went in to this show without any knowledge of the product, yet I could follow it and understand it; I enjoyed it immensely, and at the end of the show was left with a desire to see more. If that isn’t a home run I don’t know what is, and on top of that it only cost me $20. (In some areas it was as cheap as $10 or $15)

If you are looking for a faster paced, more realistic alternative to WWE or even TNA, ROH is where you should be looking. ROH Man Up provided death defying stunts, great wrestling, amazing high spots, with great easy to follow booking and story telling, with non of the embarrassing mindless nonsense, of Leprechauns running through walls, pointless gimmick matches, endless run ins, and unhonored promises and stipulations. ROH isn’t Sports Entertainment, ROH is an Entertaining Sport; ROH is WRESTLING!

For the safety of the boys, I hope they tone down the “death defying” aspect of their work rate a bit, but other than that ROH is awesome, and if you haven’t seen Man Up yet, you have to order this show on replay or track it down on DVD. It’s the most entertainment per dollar you can find on PPV. Congratulations to everyone who worked on this show, and thank you for the entertainment you provided me.

I'm really looking forward to Raw tonight, but it really says something about the WWE, IMO.

That they really have to bring back talent from days gone by to bump up the ratings, because their current crop of talent just isn't cutting it. At some point you have to cease blaming the talent and releasing them en masse the way they've done. Personally, I believe that I can care about Elijah Burke, or Carlito, or other talent - but only if they are treated and presented as human beings with genuine human motivations, rather than cartoon characters.

Personally, I wonder how over Val Venis could get if he came back on-screen as a virulent Libertarian, and not as a porn star whose sun set 7 years ago/jobber.
