EDIT: Anyone wanna sell me TNA Impact for $30 shipped yet? ;)

Speaking of the iMPACT game (adrenaline rush, adrenaline rush, adrenaline rush!), www.f4wonline.com has a contest for it. Interestingly, I've yet to see the PS3 and 360 versions for sale at B&M stores - only the PS2 version.

"Mike Knox came and Matt Hardy saw and conquered!" - Grisham
eww.

(on Matt Hardy)"The only reason he‘s looking good is because he‘s not in there with Mark Henry!." - Mark Henry
Awesome.

ECW was perfectly fine tonight aside from the main event, which dragged on for fucking ever - I haven't seen a match drag on like that since a 15 minute-long Sheik Adnan Al Kaisey match on ESPN Classics last week. Jack Swagger's match was the highlight of the show this week, as he busted out a bunch of neat-looking stuff (like a quick gutwrench suplex/powerbomb, an excellent knee lift), and was put over like a million bucks on commentary.

Quotes -
Striker - At Unforgiven, Matt Hardy achieved his LIFELONG DREAM BY BECOMING ECW CHAMPION!
Striker - Matt Hardy’s theme says “I can slap a tornado”...
Grisham - I think it’s “I Can Slam a Tornado”.
Striker - No, it’s “I can slap a tornado”, and he just got slapped by Mike Knox - a TRUE CONTENDER within WWE!
Striker - Matt Hardy with a DDT - a move made popular by Jake “the Snake” Roberts.
Striker - People love Matt Hardy because he comes right at you.
Grisham - I don’t think that Mike Knox is in love with Matt Hardy right now.
Striker - No, but I am.
Grisham - Mike Knox doing his best impression of Evan Bourne.
Grisham - Mike Knox came and Matt Hardy saw and conquered!
(after singing)Striker - It‘s country music, Todd.
Grisham - And you‘re horrible at singing it.
Atlas - I hate to say it, but Hardy looked good out there…
Henry - THE ONLY REASON HE LOOKED GOOD IN THERE IS BECAUSE HE WASN’T IN THE RING WITH ME!
Striker - It’s the Rabbi of Radiance - the Miz.
Striker - Last week, Morrison and Bourne put on a match of the year candidate.
Striker - I don’t like him, but Ricky Ortiz is a stand-up and forthright guy!
Striker - Regardless as what he calls himself, the Grand Wizard of Lust - he deserves to be taken seriously!
Striker - Right now, the Miz is full of Evan Bourne.
Grisham - I wonder if that hurts.
Striker - What are you talking about!?
Striker - Pulling the ropes isn’t enough when MIKE POSEY’S ON THE JOB!
Striker - Todd, do you play any instruments aside from the obvious?
Grisham - The guitar? I love the guitar!
Grisham - We’ve had two matches so far and they’ve been FANTASTIC!
Grisham - Think about tough guys named Jack - Jack Lanza, Jack Brisco, and now JACK SWAGGA!
Grisham - Chase Stevens has paid his dues, and tonight’s his time to shine!
Striker - A GUTWRENCH - that’s a move we don’t see enough in the WWE!
Striker - Mr. Wrestling II please take note of the knee lift by JACK SWAGGA!
Grisham - Please don’t say it like that again.
Striker - BUT I HAVE TO!
Striker - RED, WHITE, AND BLUE THUNDER BOMB!
Striker - There’s no doubt that No Mercy will ROCK OUR WORLD!
Striker - Todd, did you know that Finlay’s name comes from your favorite language - Gaelic - it means the fair-haired warrior.
(after the running vertical splash)Striker - Mark Henry, Vader-like, crushing Finlay.
(to the ref)Henry - DONCHA EVA PUT YA HANDS ON ME!
(during a nerve hold)Grisham - YOU’RE WATCHING OUR MAIN EVENT!
Striker - Mark Henry doling out damage is different than Matt Hardy doing it
- kind of like people going to the ocean to cry because their tears look small by comparison. It’s all relative.
Striker - There are so many great moments in sports entertainment that have happened in this town - like the Undertaker pinning Hollywood Hogan for the WWE Title at Judgment Day…
Grisham - And tonight, we saw Matt Hardy pin Mike Knox!
Grisham - Finlay has wrestled everywhere, from Germany to Japan - perhaps that’s where he looked the Fujiwara armbar!

I went to the event live.

Hornswaggle disappeared under the ring after his shove down, and it seemed like Finlay got the 3 count on Henry, but I guess he kicked out at the last second.. everyone thought he won.

I was happy to see Evan Bourne live.

Whenever I hear the name Evan Bourne I still think "Who?". Then I see him and it's "Oh, they meant Matt Sydal.". Evan Bourne is right up there on the catchy name list with Scotty Goldman and Marcus Corvon (however that was spelled).

I saw Bourne for the the first time last week on Raw. I'd forgotten how much fun he is to watch. His SSP was ridikalus (5 points for whoever gets the reference).

Some ECW screens -
The AWA plug for 24/7...using what would appear to be the WCW-era New Freebirds holding the NWA Tag Titles...

JACK SWAGGER FLIES!

...and Matt Hardy's a goofball...

I keep thinking Sydal's Doink's son. :whistle2:#

And it was "Marcus Cor Von." It is perhaps one of the worst names in the history of worst and name.

I'd add Adam Bomb to that list.

Hehehe... at least "Adam Bomb" is memorable. ;) I read through FCW's recently renamed wrestlers and thought their original names were a lot better and more memorable. "'Pretty Boy' Nelson Roy" and "Wesley Holiday"? Really, FCW staff? Those are two awkward names. :cold:

 I was an Adam Bomb fan . . . . . .

Reminds me of this rumored code for Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game for ps1, I'm pretty sure I read it in Game Informer and it said if you beat the championship tour with everyone in the game then Adam Bomb became a playable character. Tried a few times to do it, but never succeeded.

http://www.f4wonline.com/content/view/6774/ - Raw's rating was actually a 2.6, Kurt Angle has filed for divorce from Karen, but they're getting along professionally in TNA, and TNA expects the BFG buyrate to be significantly up from the norm due to the stuff they did on last night's Impact taping with Angle and Jarrett.

Given how horrible TNA's buyrates have been for the past couple of years, I hope this next big spike in one happens and, unlike all the others, actually sticks - there's no good reason why a company with over a million weekly viewers has PPVs with as few as 10,000 buys - and averages about 20,000. The split of Kurt and Karen is somewhat sad, but expected given their marriage problems, and usually airing them out in public doesn't do much good in wrestling. They seem to be getting along well, so this could be like DDP and Kimberly, where they remain close friends and the whole "marriage" side of things just didn't work out for them.

Also, Batista's talking about retiring in a couple of years, but there's a feeling that Vince will do anything to keep him.
http://www.prowrestling.net/artman/publish/WWE/article1002808.shtml

Given how injury-prone he is, I hope Batista does retire on his own and isn't forced out by yet another muscle tear - he's already working on a torn muscle that was supposed to end his career years ago, and it would be better to leave more or less on top than slowly wind his career and end up being one of those sad guys who hangs onto their last lingering thread of fame.

A hilarious Tully Blanchard interview, and only the minority of the comedy is due to him - the bulk of it is due to the crowd, chanting a variety of things at both he and Baby Doll -

I hope Batista gets hit by a car. Primadonna whining bitch.

Boring as all hell, too.

As for TNA's PPVs, their program has shown no growth, and 10K buys is 1% of viewers. Not a bad rate, I suppose. WWE has about 3 million every week and averages 200K for "minor" PPVs and 300K for larger ones (WM being a statistical outlier)? Well, WWE has better retention, then, as they have 3X the crowd but 10-20X the PPV buys.

The fact is, for both shows, that titles are meaningless, storylines and production stale, and gimmick matches overused to the point of virtual irrelevance. Only do you find that, occasionally, a good match/feud happens. Jericho/HBK is one of those.

As for TNA, their PPVs blend together to the point that I couldn't tell you who was in their last PPV (not the one this past weekend, but 4 weeks prior). I couldn't give a shit who was in their PPV, either. Their overbooked nonsense doesn't focus on wrestling, their character-and-skit-driven programs seem to put virtually no emphasis on developing feuds, they're chock full of could-give-a-fuck-about-em guys like the Prince Justice crew and others.

Their show is so consistently overcooked (and I mean that, not overbooked) - too many ingredients, too many corny elements, too many offensive things like Daivari's theme music, and throwaway matches that disguise the very talent and advantage they have over WWE.

TNA sucks something fierce because they're following the recipe WWE wrote down, and doing nothing other than aping shit that doesn't work with guys nobody knows or cares about.

Hell, I hardly even think about streaming their PPVs, let alone pay for them.

Solid points, Myke. By buying out their only competitor, WWE threw everything off balance, and, as most of us assumed they would become way back then, became complacent.

For some reason, I think WWE likes keeping things stale. They probably figure if they keep giving people the same ol' crap that the good things will mean so much more. :whistle2:k

It's clear, to me anyway, why they do what they do: their growth as a "public" company (sure, they're publicly traded, but what enormous portion of stock does the McMahon family hold?) is based on low-risk, low-growth strategies.

Don't rock the boat any risk major losses, basically. If the show sucks, the show sucks. They're making excellent profit on their "diversified interests" such as dvd and t-shirt sales. As long as everything remains profitable, they're pretty uninterested in changing things up too much.

Plus, IIRC, their tv arrangement takes ad revenue and ad space out of their control by and large, so ratings shcmatings for them, right?

There's an interview floating around with Kevin Nash where he calls out TNA's biggest problem (no one knowing they exist), mentioning that he gets approached and recognized in airports with "When's the last time you wrestled?".

Yeah, there have been a bunch of stories like that for other well-known TNA guys - a similar thing happened to Christian at a baseball game, and Sting's also been asked when he's coming back to wrestling.

Friday.

WWE will stammer on it, and think through things - showing their reluctance to follow through with what they said they would do. But they'll ultimately drop him.

Way to have MVP and THEE Brian Kendrick put over your latest drug abuser! Way to think things through WWE! Give 'em another chance! And another! And another!

And another! Keep burying the new guys!
FINALLY - IGF 6 matches have hit the web.

Necro Butcher vs. Kendo Ka Shin vs. ROB VAN DAM -
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HASTKS87

Typical IGF - guys going through the motions, and getting a decent reaction for doing so. RVD's new theme is comprised entirely of "ROB VAN DAM - THE WHOLE fuckING SHOW" as its lyrics, with RVD syncing up his movements to it pretty well AND debuting a new singlet.
RVD, of course, wins this three way dance, since he's the biggest star in it by a wide margin.

The Predator (Sylvester Terkay) vs. Bobby Lashley -
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TWPQTCK8

I haven't seen the Predator gimmick in action before, but after reading about Terkay doing a good Brody impression...yup, it's perfectly fine. He's better with the whole "scare the crowd" thing than other Brody imitations like Nord the Barbarian (who looked the part more), and he, like Brody, has a fine knock-off of "Immigrant Song". The match itself is no great shakes, but Lashley looked solid, and the match finished with
a repeat of his most famous match's finish - the duck-under, rope-rebound spear.

Tank Abbott vs. Josh Barnett -
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TKA8E8P0

Downloading this match brought up "CRP" as the download code...that doesn't bode well. Or maybe it does. Perhaps Tank will dance and sing.

Not IGF, but still pretty damned random and goofy matchup -
Ron Simmons and Nailz vs. Keiji Muto and Hiroshi Hase
http://rapidshare.com/files/144484087/NAILZ___Faarooq_vs._Muto___Hase.mp4.html

Solie and Humperdink mocking "Doc Nelson" for his name, then spending a minute debating what kind of Doctor he is, with Solie saying vets call him an MD and MDs calling him a vet, leading to Dink saying that he could be a doctor of philosophy was fantastic. Both Solie and Dink pronouncing Hase's name as "Hasee" was a bit annoying.

Solie stating that Nelson's too stupid to fell pain and that he had a "zombie-like approach" and "that punch didn't look very effective..." after a bad double sledge, and "I think he might be tired" after he huffed and buffed after a whopping two minutes of ring time, then stating that he moved in "absolute slow motion" ruled. Not a great match, but a fun one to watch, and Simmons actually shined quite well in it, doing a variety of headbutts that I don't remember him doing.
Thank you sir.

Jeff Hardy was apparently detained at Nashville Airport today. Any guesses on how soon his release might be?
And to think, he may have had a legitimate shot to win the title this time around.

Way to go Jeff. Hope you enjoy getting booed out of another ROH show.

Incident involving Jeff Hardy at Nashville airport
Posted on Sep 18 2008 @ 12:13am by Mike Landau

There's a story floating around the net regarding Jeff Hardy being detained at an airport earlier today in Nashville. I talked to 2 different sources that would know but either they'd rather stay mum for now on the subject, which I completely understand from their side, or they do not know the details. I received an email from a third person and from what I understand is the following, and keep in mind that this is not confirmed by any source i've spoken to in WWE but this does fall in line with what one person hinted to me a couple of hours ago:

- Jeff Hardy was not detained by police but his girlfriend was detained.

- I don't want to speculate on what was found although my source is pretty sure on what it was but i'll keep it out of this post but i'll say that it wasn't a weapon and it wasn't found on Jeff.

- Jeff Hardy has major heat right now and the talk is that WWE is considering taking action and this could cause him to lose his job.

More updates as they become available.

My bet on how soon Jeff will be released: Monday October 6th since "No Mercy" is the day before. Unless if the WWE wants to suddenly change the Smackdown main event for the PPV after building it for the past two weeks (counting this week's show). The WWE will keep him until the PPV is done. Then release him exactly that Monday.

Also... my bet is that his girlfriend was hiding whatever illegal drugs he had on him.

It was only a matter of time before the policy finally caught up with a 'name' player. The main-event face scene is looking bleaker and bleaker.

Man, Trips really backed the wrong horse this time.

Maybe. Now they'll NEVER pull the title off of him.

And in other news... Sonny Siaki has retired.
I just want to say a few things before I close this chapter of my life. The last ten years, I've seen, heard, watched, and learned a lot about myself and the wrestling business. Being a professional wrestler has been one of my dreams since I was a kid. I've had some of the worse and the absolute best times of my life in wrestling... "If you think you know, you have no idea".

Being in the wrestling business is the hardest job in the world. You have to be mentally, emotionally, and physically strong to be accepted into it. If you've never been a part of the business, you have no clue what we (the boys) deal with. In my opinion, the only good part about being in professional wrestling is being in the ring. This business is about filling up arenas, ratings, and drawing money. Are there politics involved in wrestling? Of course there are; politics are a portion of any job. The creative team and agents in WWE and TNA have been in the business for years, and they've seen it all. Opportunities are not given - you got to take what they give you and find a way to turn it into money. You got to take chances and think outside the box in this entertainment industry. Bottom line, if you have the potential to be a profitable asset to WWE or TNA then you'll be put on TV. The question you have to ask yourself is: How can I make Vince money?, or How can I make Jeff money? For me; Did I ever make it in pro wrestling? My opinion: No... Was it my fault? Yes, because the first seven years of my career, I didn't get it. I wanted to do what was best for me, not for the match. In the locker room, I was known for being arrogant, cocky, conceited, etc. I took advantage of being a called a pro wrestler. I was VERY selfish... These last three years, the wrestling business became a learning experience. Having good psychology was an adrenaline rush. I started respecting the boys and pro wrestling. Telling a good story in the ring was exciting, wrestling became fun.

Well unfortunately, two years ago while still with WWE, I received some bad news from home. My brother Bernard who's only 35 yrs old, was diagnosed with Renal Kidney Failure, a situation where one of his kidneys has completely shut down and the other is functioning at 35%. For the past two years Bernard's rare situation has turned against him. The functioning capability of his one kidney has decreased from 35% to 10%. Bernard seeks dialysis three days a week for 15 hours and lives on a strict diet. Everyday he perseveres with pain, discomfort and more fatigue than one person can usually endure. Bernard works full time just trying to pay his medical bills and on-going medications. We are in the process of providing a kidney transplant at a very high cost for BERNARD SIAKI by raising awareness, fundraisers, and getting people like you involved. Bernard who just by his kindness alone, contributes to a better society. A tender-hearted man, a gregarious friend, a beloved man. He's the type of person who cares more about other people then himself. I've decided to be the Kidney Donor for my brother which means that the doctor says I can no longer wrestle.

From 1998 to 2008, I was under contract with WCW, TNA, and WWE, and want to thank each organizations for giving me the opportunity to live one my dreams. It was a privilege and an honor to work with some of the best talents in the world.

To all the boys with WWE, TNA, ROH , the talent in developmental, all Indy workers, and the divas - I know what you put your bodies through, and from the bottom of my heart, I wish you the best. If you believe in faith, please pray for me and Bernard as we get our surgeries that will potentially save my brother's life. To all wrestling fans, thank you for your support of pro wrestling. Without you, there would be no Sports Entertainment.

My family have paired with the 1st church of the Nazarene in Wilmington, NC to support Bernard's transplant activities. The first church of the Nazarene is considered a non-profit organization. This charitable organization union will help us organize our finances with an official treasurer and allow all donators to receive a tax benefit for their contribution to Bernard's fund. PLEASE HELP US SAVE MY BROTHER'S LIFE at www.savebernardsiaki.org. I greatly appreciate your cooperation and concern for my brother's life.

Thank you and All the best, Sonny Siaki--please visit www.savebernardsiaki.org & www.myspace.com/savebernardsiaki
Both mother and child are doing well.

And Kevin Nash has reportedly signed a new deal with TNA. Oh joy.
I wish they'd give it to MVP.
You aren't the only one. A Triple H/MVP feud could be good.

It could only be good if Triple H wouldn't squash MVP. If they pulled it off like Benoit/Triple H with Trips losing the title and being unable to win it back, it could be great.

That being said the Benoit/Triple H feud worked because HHH was a heel. I can't really see MVP turning face and working out. At the same time, because Triple H is so overpowering, it's hard to make it seem like he's the "face in peril".

So maybe it wouldn't be great. Then again, I'm no wrestling booker so I'm sure I'm not as good as visualizing these things as some people are.

It amazes me that no one's leaked the actual Hardy story since he was reportedly pulled off of the plane following boarding.

A few sites (NoDQ, Lords Of Pain) are reporting that calls to the Nashville airport's safety and security officers are uneventful - they've got no record of an arrest, and aren't commenting.

Hardy was traveling with Matt and Gregory Helms (who filmed backstage videos Tuesday for SD), and was supposedly pulled off of the flight and escorted by security after he boarded. He wasn't cuffed, and he was allowed to use his phone (which makes me think it's not as serious as people might think).

PWInsider:

The Tennessean.com is reporting that Jeff Hardy was denied boarding on his flight home to North Carolina yesterday because he ” appeared intoxicated at Nashville International Airport’s Southwest gate” according to Southwest Airlines spokesman Chris Mainz. After his alleged intoxication was reported, Southwest denied his entry on the flight (which Matt Hardy conveniently left out of his blog entry, not that I blame him one bit).

Hardy was not arrested and instead offered to take a later flight. He did not cause a scene at the airport.

Could have been anything from alcohol to weed.

Even if it is minor, it's still not the kind of thing that WWE would even remotely want happening around one of their champions. So, even if it's not big enough to get him fired, I wouldn't hold my breath for a title win anytime soon. I'd imagine Vince is a bit more gun-shy after the RVD incident, and now this whole 'kid-friendly' thing.

So is Sting the be all end all in TNA now? I haven't watched in a couple of months.

Is Sting the top dog? SJ cut his little promo all about Sting and Double J mentioned him too.
