Highlight of the show was a sign in the second or third row that read: " If my ex-girlfriend sucked like Ademle we'd still be together".
Highlight of the show was a sign in the second or third row that read: " If my ex-girlfriend sucked like Ademle we'd still be together".
Heh. A throwback to the days when signs were funny.

AWA show thoughts for today - Big K taking a call from DDP right as his segment started ruled, as did the main event, which featured Mando busting out a ton of innovative moves, DDP (illiterate at this time) calling the crowd a bunch of functional illiterates, Mando and Tanaka audibly calling spots, and Pat Tanaka cursing (including a GODDAMMIT that made it through uncensored).

Very enjoyable show, and Wahoo's post-head dress-destroying promo was fantastic - it wasn't full of catchphrases, but the man told a fine story about the history of that head dress and the pain required to construct one that was vivid and worked at making me want to see him demolish Manny Fernandez.

Quotes -
Trongard - Cousin Luke has as smile on his face even when he’s involved in the most brutal sport in the world.
(on Luke’s Converse shoes)Lee - I’ve seen some great-looking wrestling boots over the years - those aren’t them.
Lee - He’s got his tenni-leathers on!
(crowd during Cousin Luke match)- BORING! BOOORRINNGG! BORING! BOOOORRRRRRIIIIIIIINNNNNGGGGG! (a number of on-screen fans leave)
Lee - I wonder if we’re gonna see that big splash? Yup, WOOOOOO!
Cousin Luke - Saturday night, we either have a bath or we have a hoe-down!
Apter - I’m here with America’s Newest Heroes - Ricky Rice and John Paul.
(after the Top Guns attack)Trongard - A PAIR OF DYNAMIC DROPKICKS!
Lee - I think we could be seeing the beginnings of one of the most dynamic tag teams in all of professional wrestling! The EDINA CONNECTION!
(after the Top Guns win and a fan swoons)Lee - Boy, she’s convinced!
Trongard - AND SO AM I!
Big K - Thanks, but I’m on the TV show now. I just got a call from my friend DDP, telling me what’s going on in the European scene. Cousin Luke is like greased lightning! The Top Guns remind me of the old days - they don’t have to watch each other.
Nelson - You’re about to see a wrestler known THROUGHOUT THE WORLD - MANNY FERNANDEZ!
Ustinov - PEOPLES OF AMERICA, LOOK AT MY PARTNER, HE IS CRAZY! LIKE ME, WITH MY RUSSIAN MIND! BARON, YOU NEED A PARTNER? GET SGT. SLAUGHTER. SLAUGHTER, YOU ARE NOTHING BUT A CARTOON CHARACTER ON SATURDAY MORNING FOR THE LITTLE KIDS!
Lee - I want to find out what the issue is between Fernandez and Wahoo.
Trongard - IT’S SOMETHING!
(after a chop from Manny)Trongard - OH GAWWWDDDD!
Lee - Now he’s mocking Wahoo, and he’s not even here!
Trongard - Well, he could be.
(on the flying cross chop)Lee - For a point of reference, a burrito is a Mexican sandwich, and that’s what he does - he sandwiches his opponent.
(after a post-match attack)Trongard - OH GOSH!
Wahoo - Lemme tell ya something, Manny Fernandez, I ain’t a fraid a you, I’m gonna whoop your butt!
Lee - OH NO, HE’S RIPPING THE FEATHERS OUT OF WAHOO’S WAR BONNET!
Nelson - Wahoo, he attacked from behind, and then tore apart your headdress..
Wahoo - Like I said, I’m not afraid of him, but it’s not funny anymore. This means a lot to me - my grandmother used to make these until her fingers bled, and my father did the same. You can’t just buy these at a store. This was handed down from my father down to me. I’M NOT AFRAID OF YOU, SOMEWHERE DOWN THE LINE, BROTHER, THIS IS NOTHING COMPARED TO HOW YOU’RE GONNA LOOK LIKE!
DDP - Listen up you functional illiterates, sometimes the Badd Company is too hot, and I have to split them up - tonight, it’s from Hawaii, PAAAT TTTTTTANAKA, ONE HALF OF BA-DOUBLE-D BADD COMPANY! Hey TACO BOY!
(to Mando, who is advancing towards him)DDP - HEY BOY, I DON’T WANT YOU MESSIN UP MY HAIR - IT AIN’T ALL GREASY LIKE YOURS!
DDP - WE’RE THE DIAMOND EXCHANGE! DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER!
Crowd - MANDO! MANDO! MANDO!
Trongard - Tanaka has surely seen Armando Guerrero in action before, but until you’re in there, you just don’t know!
Lee - Look at this cradle!
Trongard - WELL I’LL BE DOG-GONED!
(to Tanaka)Mando - You okay? You okay?!
(on a spinning cradle that pins a man down on his shoulders)Lee - I HAD NO IDEA THAT MOVE COULD GO INTO A PIN!
(after a European uppercut)Trongard - WHAT A SPINNING SWIRLING FOREARM SMASH!
(after a submission/backslide/armbar combo)Trongard - I am simply in awe.
DDP - 1-2-3! 1-2-3! CAN’T YOU COUNT, REFEREE!?
Tanaka - COME ON GODDAMMIT! (Mando monkey flips him)
Trongard - I’m sorry, I can’t repeat what Tanaka just said…
(before a Mexican surfboard)Tanaka - HOLY SHIT!
I was watching the Muta show that Jay uploaded a while back. Very fun, especially watching Muta team with Tajiri. They had a cool visual before their match where they would both mist at the same time. If someone could make a me a gif of this (or has the patience to teach me how to do it) I would really appreciate it.

Muta appeared at ICP's show, Jugalow Championship Wrestling. That part made me dislike ICP fans even more and I wasn't sure that was possible. These idiots were throwing trash in the ring from the beginning of the match to end.

I was going through some old magazines the other day and came across an ad for Day of Reckoning that featured just Eddie and Benoit. It was both depressing and nostalgic.
I could GIF it. Where's the video?
TNA's bringing in Kamala, Koko B. Ware, George "The Animal" Steele, and Jake "The Snake" Roberts (in what seems like a "thanks for rehab, WWE") for the Lethal/Val wedding. That should be...interesting.

In other news, I picked up a sweet vintage Freebirds shirt.

LMAO! That's great. Seeing your face, though, was surprising. I guess it's because of your avatar, but I always thought you were black.

I didn't read the Smackdown spoilers- I never do- But I was told one bit of news. It's a big one, but it doesn't give away a match result. That's really all I can say without giving it away.

Vickie Guerrero announced that Smackdown would be getting a Divas title which 2 women would compete for at Night of Champions.

As for ECW- Good show. I was worried that Sydal would just be a jobber, but it looks like they'll do something with him. He got in some good offense and only lost by countout. ECW is the best place for him, anyhow, since SD has no cruiserweight title anymore.

Cruiserweight? I've never heard of this word before, and they certainly never had a cruiserweight divison either. A title? Preposterous.

just caught up on the major WWE viewing for this weeek. Edge/Taker TLC... some great moments, but a lot of the spots kind of bothered me. Those multi-table spots worked in past TLC matches because you had 6 men to work with, and since there were TEAMS you could have guys working together to build the little forts. If you try to do the same type of spots in a 1-on-1 match, it comes off as really awkward!

Setting up that 4-table stack on the outside looked especially silly. Why not just have La Familia set all that up, since they all came out at the end anyway?

btw... just changed my sig in honor of Raw's funniest moment

I keep forgetting that we have Comcast, I missed both RAW and ECW.

So is Armando(ECW manager) done?

SmackDown Main Event Spoiler

Alright , got a question for everyone.

As a fan who hasn't been watching wrestling in almost a year (one guess as to why) would this be considered a good time to get back into the game , so to speak. Some of my friends who've still been watching tell me that things are improving and nows a good time , others are saying its the same old shit and not to bother. Or even WWE versus TNA , is even one of them worth watching right now or are they both kinda crappy?

In my humble opinion WWE is dead in the water now, Vinces pretty desperate plea for viewers on Raw told it's own story.

I think TNA has got a bit better over the last few weeks, but thats relative, it's still not very good. I can usually stomach about 30 mins of it on a Sat night.

My advice would be find a better way to spend your time, I play videogames a lot myself.

Pay $9 a month for WWE 24/7 and don't sweat the current stuff.

im guessing you stopped cause of cena.

um, unless you wanna see a summer long cena/hhh fued, then no its not a goodtime. and the only reason i watch any tna now is cause its on when i get off work on thursday nights. ive been enjoying raw. but i'm just curious as to how much airtime this cash give away is going to take next week.

on the other hand, i am hesitant to put out a flat out no. with the draft coming up in a few weeks there is the possibility of it spicing things up a bit. but it would be a very short bit.

so theres my answer.... i guess.
John Cena ?
Actually no , I've never really had that much of a problem with cena. Granted he's certenly not that great of a wrestler but he doesn't really bother me.

I thought my pop quiz question would be easier to guess , especially since I left a clue in the question , hint hint.;)

What are these "videogames" you speak of? I think I have a few hundred of them at my place already but I don't know what to do with them.

Yeah, I've pretty much quit watching all the WWE shows since Wrestlemania. I just got tired of the same six or seven people getting the main event booking every single time. I'm planning on tuning back in for the draft though as that should make things interesting.
Sarcasm, right? If not, you're ill-informed.
Yes, that was sarcasm, on how the WWE doesn't even acknowledge that it exists, or existed. In-fact, the Cruiser Title was probably my favorite title, just because of how great the matches were, and the competition for it (when there was competition).

Plus, Gregory Helms is god.

I just let this thread keep me up to date. I hardly ever watch anymore. I was intrigued enough with the Orton injury and Hardy/Cena match to watch Raw Monday, but decided to go on hiatus again after realizing that we are in store for a summer full of Cena/HHH.

Yeah, this thread is pretty much how I watch current wrestling as well.

I'd actually watch Raw if my fiancee didn't hate wrestling (she misses the Rock) and I have to wake up ungodly early on weekdays.

If you have time to spare, you can always watch the "X-Stream" on WWE.com every week, so that way you could actually catch ECW (which is really the only good show on right now anyway).

It seems like WWE.com has also been putting up almost every match after it happens from both shows, that is, if you can get the WWE.com player to even work, which it doesn't seem to-do for anyone, on any browser, at any time.

I like what he became during the end of his WWE run, but really preferred his Sugar Shane days in WCW. It felt like he had a bigger playground to work with, in comparison to WWE's watered-down style. Also, the neon green pants were awesome.

The one, and only, complaint I have about Helms is how he referred to a floating back brain kick as the Shining Wizard, which is not the same nor look anything like it.

A minor complaint, but I always cringed when WWE Commentary misspoke.

In totality, Shane Helms was quite the talent. It's a shame he had to go out the way he did. :whistle2:(

I dunno, I also loved him as Sugar Shane Helms, and I especially loved him in 3-count. I loved the Hurricane gimmick in the WWE as-well, but honestly, I have to disagree (in a way), as I think that his last run in the WWE, just as Gregory Helms, was his most dominating, and best run yet.

His run isn't over yet either, thankfully, and he should be returning in just a few months, and I can't wait for him to return.

I do love the new Shining Wizard though, sure, it's basically a devastating kick to the back of the head, but that's what I love about it (I know what you're saying, and I agree, but I still love this move - even if it has the name of Shining Wizard).

For the WWE, ECW is the only thing worth watching at the moment. They usually have a decent amount of good matches with minimal bullshit. TNA is a fucking wreck.

Have you thought about following a smaller promotion like Ring Of Honor? Sure it's harder to follow but they have PPVs every month, DVDs from every live show and some of the best wrestling in North America.

This is an older match but check out Low Ki Vs KENTA from RoH Final Battle 2005

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZR3VZTND

Of course, every match isn't going to be as stiff as that one (which is one of the stiffest matches I have ever seen) but I'd say it a pretty good representation on what you'll get from RoH overall.

Yes, I agree that his last run was probably his best. He really dominated, which was nice, as he jobbed a bit too much for my liking in his Hurricane days.

What is in a name, I suppose. I like to think someone as creative as Helms could think of a new name. Perhaps "Hurrikick" as a tribute to his Hurricane days?

Ah, so his year leave is almost over, aye? I have to wonder where his place is in the present WWE. There is no cruiserweight division, and all cruiserweights have only played jobber. I hope WWE gets around to using him - instead of jobbing him out. Since Helms and Flair are friends, I suppose things should be a little better for him.

I think TNA is pretty good in regards to the women's division. I really don't mind the rest of it either.

I've seen some of ROH before (mostly older stuff) and enjoyed what I've seen , but I've never kept up with it as much as I'd like to , mostly cause it's more convienient/lazy/cheap to just watch whats on free TV and the occasional PPV.

I'd recommend those on the fence wait until maybe a week or so before the upcoming draft and then check it out for a month or so and see if the draft switches things up at all. With all the injuries and suspensions and such I'd say there is at least a decent chance of them really having to switch things to create new feuds, but who knows?

TNA is better then most people here give it credit for I think, although it can really be hit or miss to the extreme, but usually you can find a lot of good stuff each show, unfortunately you have to sit through some complete bullshit to get to it most of the time.

HHH/Cena will be the centerpiece of Raw, so I'm not expecting anything to change there. Santino's really the only reason I watch (though I agree with Chase that Cody/DiBiase for the tag titles is comin' round the corner).

And with Edge's new foil, any potential interest I had in SmackDown is show down the shitter.

I hate reruns.

Seriously. I love Edge as WHC and all, but give him someone new to feud with. Doesn't help that I fucking hate Batista.

How about CM Punk Vs Edge? Or Big Show Vs. Edge? Jeff Hardy Vs Edge? Hell, I'd take a new Matt Hardy Vs Edge feud over this bullshit.

I'm hoping everything's just in cruise control because the Draft is looming. I'll give the WWE one last shot after the draft, but if new & exciting shit doesn't pick up, then I'm done. I'm already on edge (no pun intended) after finding about just how sick & twisted Benoit was (and just how fucking disgusting the biz as a whole seems to be).

I was thinking of doing exactly that actually.

If and when Helms comes back, he should immediately go to ECW (barring any major roster changes on that show). His style fits worlds better there as compared to the giant-heavy Smackdown or the Trips/Cena Raw. On either of those two, he'd be fodder for guys who have half the talent he does, but on ECW, he's a potential titleholder. Helms as a heel against Punk or Sydal (if he stays) sounds fun, and as a face against Morrison or Burke could be great too.

'Course, my fantasy draft also sends Jericho to Smackdown. I'd much rather see Y2J head to Friday nights and feud with Edge than Batista.

Hell, make Helms the ECW champ.

and I totally agree with the whole Y2J vs Edge feud, but I don't think HHH would ever let that happen.

Same...well, this and one or two other forums. I stopped watching after Mania 23 almost completely, then sort of tracked down a few things later on in the year. I watch Raw maybe once every 2-3 months now and hardly ever see ECW or Smackdown, maybe watch Youtube/Dailymotion vids of any significant stuff if I read about it. I don't feel like I'm missing much at all by not watching the shows.

That is a good plan, JJ. I view the present ECW World title the same way I see the X-Division title. It should be open to all weight-classes, but primarily filled with junior heavyweight talent. ECW could be a very engaging show if they used it right.

Hey.. I'm not that great at it, but maybe I can still offer some assistance. Anyway, you have this match on your hard drive right? Ok, well.. I would recommend opening it up in Media Player Classic, and taking screen shots while moving frame by frame. To do this, just pause it and press left and right to move between frames. Now, to put these screen shots together you can use something like Animation Shop. I'm sure Photoshop can do it too but I was never a big PS user. Animation Shop comes with Paint Shop Pro so look into that if you're interested.

The frame-by-frame method would probably work but I bet it would be headache-inducing!

Oh Boy , it's Wrestlemania for Booker all over again.

Edit : Ok that might be a little off. For some reason I was thinking Victory Road was TNAs equivelent to WM. I forgot that this is Slammiversary/Bound for Glory.

It's a common quote, and we're far enough removed from WM X-Seven that it doesn't matter.... personally, I just think it's indicative of the fact that BOTH companies use uncreative taglines. ;)

Ok, so I'm looking at the roster page for each of the 3 brands to try and figure out what kind of draft I'd want to see. Dear god, looking at them all lined up, it's frustrating how many poorly used people there are in the company. Nearly every move I'd want to make has the caveat of '... if they used them properly'.

Regardless... screw the McMahon money giveaway, you want me to watch again? Draft. A gigantic, complete shuffling of the superstars. I don't want 3-5 obvious people switching... I want at least half of the company to suddenly be on other shows. I want things I never thought would happen, like shoving Cena to Smackdown, or Batista to ECW. I'm just tired of the same old shit being shoved down my throat. Turn the idea of the A show, the B show, and the C show on it's head. THAT would make me come back.
