This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items, or raincheck "scams." Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday. Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. Some info from BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction."

When posting deals, please include city, state, store, game, system and price. For example:
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs
Super Soup Soufflé, Xbox 360, $4.98

Special thanks to Mephitical for this great tool for locating clearance titles which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

Here is a fairly easy way to check if your local Target has the games on clearance-- often games will not be tagged correctly. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Remember, the lowest known price will be posted since the listed item could be higher or lower at your store. Here are the current deals:

Folklore and Ninja Gaiden Sigma are $29.99 and Jericho is $24.99 at my Target. I wonder if I could purchase them, then return them when they drop in price? Probably Not ....o'well.....
 
Here's the DPCI for Resistance: Fall Of Man for those CAGs with a copy at their local Target still. I don't think it's ON clearance, but in case it DOES end up going on clearance.

There's no way that's going on clearance- it has about as much of a chance to do so as Gears of War does.

The Target closes to me doesn't have the buttons to type in the codes on the scanner. What are other ways to check their stock?

I'm in the same boat. None of my stores have the keypads on their scanners. I guess print a page of barcodes and bring them with you to the store?
 
Use UPC database sites to do a print out of UPC's and then just scan them all. Sometimes it may take a couple of tries with UPCs before you get the right ones. Check out the Kmart Clearance thread for more info and details.

Use Amazon or half.com to search for the upc numbers then plug them in the UPC database website to get a pic of the barcode.

BTW I have found MS Word works best using the columns feature. You need to make sure you give yourself space between the UPCs because the system will sometimes scan multiple UPCS. Just Copy and paste UPCS from the web into Word. Wallah.... instant price check sheet!
 
Foster City, CA Target had buy one get one free XBL Arcade game cards ($9.99). There were 2 Worms, a few Mortal Kombat 3's, and plenty of Galaxy Wars, UNO's and Texas Holdem's.

Unfortunately Folklore and Ninja Gaiden Sigma were $29.99 and Jericho was $24.99 at the Target in Bay Shore, NY. They were all marked wrong on the shelf; 5999 for gaiden & jericho/ 4198 clearance price for folklore. I'm pretty sure some kid's gonna get lucky, as his father overheard my price-check requests and saw that the games were "on sale".

I would grab Blue Dragon for $15 if I had seen it. You may as well go back to get it. And btw some people do consider it a lame jrpg. I think its a good jrpg, especially for $15!

You never know, really, I just figured it'd be a good thing to have the DPCI for it, just in case. Hell, I didn't expect to see NGS on clearance yet either, but I guess maybe it wasn't selling as well.

Plus, I found about 4-6 copies of Resistance on the ShopGoodwill site, SEALED, so going by the fact that usually Goodwill gets clearance items from Target, I thought maybe this was one item which slipped under the radar.

Just like people said when I actually found and bought a PS1 with an LCD screen for $10, they said I would NEVER find something like that THAT cheap. Well, I did, so it CAN and DOES happen.

so when a clearanced game doesn't get sold it's given to goodwill? this is pretty much all targets right? and where the hell can I find one of these goodwill places to shop for games? sorry for all the questions

However, Goodwill is notorious for jacking the price back up. Which I can't get too angry about, because then if someone actually buys it it'll theoretically help out someone other than Target's executive board.
You'll hear some people here talk about hiding clearance stuff, which has it's own set of moral issues that I won't get into, but it is a way to stop a game you want from going to Goodwill and having the price increased.
 
I went to a Target today and laughed my ass off. They had an endcap packed with Crackdown. Like probably over 300 copies. The most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. I took a cellphone pic, and soon as I figure out how I'll post a link.

thanks for the info, i figured they jack prices up but if there's one nearby (and there is) i can just stop by and check it out
 
I picked up the last copy of Folklore today at $29.98 just because I've heard good things about this game. I don't even own a PS3 yet, but I keep buying these stupid games. I'm just waiting for the PS3 summer price drop everybody keeps throwing rumors around about, but I knew if I didn't get it, someone else would. Just like when I left Ninja Gaiden there, and next time I went back, it was gone.

Well, tax refund time is here, so I'll just hold onto it for now.
 
seems like the instore check with Target's online website is not accurate, I headed out to a few and found nada for Sigma and Folklore

WOW the discription is one thing, but seeing the pics it's just funny.
 
Somebody needs to stand in front of that rack, and ask a passing employee "Say, I was looking for Crackdown for the Xbox 360. Do you know if you have any in stock?"

What's a cell phone? Seriously though, my one buddy and I must be the only two people(besides my parents) without a cell phone.

Honestly, if people need to get in touch with me, they can reach me at home or not at all. Of course, when I'm using my answering machine to screen calls, they may not reach me at all.:lol::p

I'm debating a 360 right now myself, but I doubt I'll pick one up just yet, though Crackdown IS on my list of games to pick up to play for it for when I DO get one.

WOW! Hilarious! Actually. If it drops down to $15 or lower (and if I can find one at a Target by me), I'd like to get one to give as a gift. I'll check my local Targets and if they don't have quantities like that, I'll be asking you to pick me up one of those :)
 
Well, if someone wants me to pickup Blue Dragon for them I will. $20 paypal shipped sounds about right. There were 2 copies yesterday.

Good lord, that's the kind of thing managers get fired over. I mean how do you order 30 times as much of a product as you can sell?

I picked Alien Syndrome PSP for $9.98 yesterday. Then I found out from gamerankings this game is a meh. It looks like it's going back to Target later.
