[adult swim thread]
missed it? I watch it like 3 times!! When are they going to show the rest of the episodes?
It was a pilot episode. As far as I know, that means just one episode is it until it's picked up for more episodes.

I was watching adult swim last night when they threw up the ratings. Their highest rated show is Family Guy with 973,000 or so viewers. I thought adult swim had more viewers than that?

I was so happy with the VB season 2 debut. It was like they listened to every fan theory about the boys' deaths and incorporated as many as they could before explaining what was really going on. I kind of guessed how it was going to happened, but not why. I thought it was hilarious and very well thought out.

Plus, the Monarch dropped "asshole" on cable TV, can't get much better than that!

Whoa! They got away with an, "asshole," on TV with out bleeping out the, "hole?" I missed that part. Wait...that didn't sound good.

Yes they did. It stood out to me because, well, you don't hear it that much on TV. Hopefully those with TIVO can verify it, just in case it's all in my mind.

It's when the guards are dragging Monarch back to his cell towards the end.

Why are people surprised? It's late night TV, nobody gives a shit about censors. South Park had an episode with 127, somewhere around there, shits in one episode uncensored at 10 PM, so an asshole at 10:30 PM is no big deal.

Not saying it's a that big of a deal. Just saying it caught me off guard because I'm so use to ass*beep* or ass*blank.* You don't realize what you don't hear on TV until you do hear it.

I'm kinda surprised nothing been done to shows like VB and South Park considering some of the content (not that I want anything done, I like them). We all know the crusade the FCC has been on since the Superbowl a couple of years ago. Aren't these shows aired before the safe harbour time zone? Maybe everything's starting to cool off and go lax again. We'll have celebrity boobies back on cable in no time.

I was surprised because even on late night tv it gets bleeped. You typically have to have some major warnings before an episode before you can do whatever you want in it. Every South Park I've seen other than the Shit one, has shit and asshole still bleeped.

This week's Venture Brothers was great, just really well done. I can't wait for the next episode on Sunday, though I believe it's up on FNF for those that can't wait.

Also, Pee Wee's Playhouse starts next week whether you like it or not. I'm interested to see how it holds up since I never really watched it as a kid.

It's bad enough they put Saved by the beel up, why the hell are they putting up Pee Wee's Playhouse?
Good shows on adult swim are becoming fewer and fewer every month

There were good shows on Adult Swim?
I must have missed the memo. By and large, it's been mediocre shows that look good compared to the crap they shoveled in, and endless reruns of things that were good shows.

Cowboy Bebop, but of course, they killed that.
FLCL? Good, but reruned too much.
Trigun, well, atleast I like it.
They pretty much killed all of them though.

Cowboy Bebop and FLCL predated adult swim and enjoyed runs on Toonami.

Did they, really?
Hmm... yeah I guess you're right then.

Nice slap in the face of Home Movies, Venture Brothers, The Boondocks, Harvery Birdman, and Stroker and Hoop unless you just hate everything they've done.

AS has some Pee Wee clips for those interested.

It seems they have The Boondocks strip up for view on AS now. Nice.

I didn't really care for Home Movies before it was on Cartoon Network, so simply moving it wouldn't change that.

I never liked Stoker and Hoop, and The Boondocks, Harvey Birdman, and the Venture Brother all really don't hold up well to repeated viewing, yet AS insists on running every show they have to death before even thinking of ordering new episodes.

I've got to disagree, as they all hold up very well to repeated viewings. I enjoy seeing them every single time they're on. Home Movies only had 5 eps. on UPN, then Adult Swim brought the show back nearly two years later and the show went on until its fourth season. It's probably the best show Adult Swim has ever had. It seems like you don't like anything Adult Swim has shown or ever will show.
Cowboy Bebop and FLCL predated adult swim and enjoyed runs on Toonami.
No they didn't, both predate it, but Bebop made it's first appearence on the debut of Adult Swim and FLCL also made it's first US appearence on AS too IIRC. I don't know if either has ever been on Toonami at all (I'm 99% sure Bebop hasn't), but if they were it was after they were on AS or as a very, very short trial, not a real series run.

Venture Brothers was great again this week. I loved the whole hoopla over Hank's erection, which I believe there was something yelled about Native Americans haunting his pants.

Pee Wee starts today. It was an... intesting episode to say the least.

Anyone get the feeling that it's the popular thing to do to hate on adult swim? I remember when it used to be cool to like it, probably because so few people even knew about it. Now that it's caught on with the mainstream with t-shirts and DVD's everywhere, plus [as] pulling crap like Pee-Wee and Saved by the Bell, it's become an easy target for self-proclaimed TV critics.

Now I'm not saying that everyone who doesn't like [as] isn't justified, as some people in this thread have pointed out specific reasons... it's just that most people just say the shows suck or that they're not as good as they used to be (an argument I'm so damned sick and tired of hearing).

If you haven't heard yet, Bleach will be making its way to Adult Swim on September 9. No word yet on what time, but that'll be revealed as the premiere nears.

That is the main reason I'm not as quick to drink their Kool-Aid anymore. I used to like the whole segment, but the crap you mentioned above and the really poor quality of some of comedies really lessens the enjoyment for me.
New episode of Venture Bros has the guy who plays McGirk in it, funny stuff
Jon Benjamin. Funny guy. I was watching an episode of Cheap Seats that he appeared in and he was pretty funny. I can't wait for the new episodes of Lucy, Daughter of the Devil to start.

Edit: According to the schedule, Big O will return to the daily 1:30 AM slot on the 24th, Home Movies gets the 1:30 AM slots on mondays on the day before that, the third Inuyasha movie was be on August 12th, August 5th is the day that the Have It Your Way contest winner picks the programming, Death Clock Metalacolypse premieres on August 6th, some mysterious show premieres after Bleach (on at 11:30 PM!) on Sept. 9 at 12 AM, and various other things you can find out by looking at it.

What the hell?

Haven't followed the thread, but is it true that Stroker and Hoop was cancelled!!!!?!?!?! I found it by looking up crap on the internet. This is horrible if it is true.

How can they cancel this show, but show crap like Saved by the bell for two weeks and the fucking PeeWee Show. I've started skipping the whole run lately because that show interrupts it all.

It was posted earlier in this thread. It happened because no one seemed to watch it. I still haven't figured out why 12 Oz. Mouse is still around and getting new episodes in the fall, but Stroker fell before it.

Edit: It seems that Death Clock Metalocalypse commercials are finally airring! Keep your eyes peeled and enjoy. I can't fucking wait.

It seems the premiere of season 2 of The Boondocks has been delayed until next year. At least we've got the Harvey episodes coming in Sept. and the various other new episodes coming this fall.

Regarding some new Death Clock Metalocalypse (or just Metalocalypse from what I'm hearing):

Because it costs $3.48 to produce one episode. Insert scribble drawing, have character repeat random bullshit, rinse, repeat.

I know the cheap production is part of it, but it still has to get good ratings to stay on. That's the part I don't get.

Tom Goes to the Mayor and 12 Oz. Mouse were both slammed by what seemed like everyone during their first seasons, but they're still on...and it might just be me, but it seems like Tom is actually becoming funny.

I still miss Space Ghost.

I enjoyed Tom the first season and still do, so I can see why people would watch it, but I don't see how enough people can watch 12 Oz. Mouse for it to stick around. At least it never has a timeslot anywhere close to a top slot.

I never really got into Space Ghost, the only episode I ever really enjoyed was Conan's episode since he mocked Space Ghost for being so crappy.

Death Clock Metalocalypse cannot come soon enough. Two weeks this sunday. :D

To be totally honest, about all I know about As now is that Pee Wee is at 11 and Family Guy is at 11:30. I totally stopped watching when they did that Saved by the Bell bullshit

ok so i just saw the first episode of 12oz. Mouse and Korgoth.
fuckING HILARIOUS!
i never saw either of these before and they are great. I can't wait until Korgoth starts to air weekly. Its such a Heavy Metal/Frazetta/70's animation throwback.
I've watched every ep of Pee-Wee so far. The rest of you guys are haters.

Dixie is sooo incredibly hot, btw.
Ewww. She looks like she's 14 in the show. :whistle2:#

What the hell are you talking about? She looks like a fully-grown woman (with a hot taxi uniform and Bronx attiude).

btw, she was 29 when she was on the show.

I know she's not 14, but that's how she looks from the pasty complexion and short, girlish figure.
Pee Wee's show is unbelievably creepy. I can't believe children could watch it.
It's not so bad. Go watch Lazytown someday for what kids can take these days. Jesus that show gives me nightmares.

Holy shit, that show is fucking weird.

I've seen it while flipping through channels, and it's so weird that it locks you in if you stare at the screne for more than a minute. Those puppets mixed with people are freaky as hell.

BTW, good thing subbie isn't posting right now, he'd be all about that little girl in Lazy Town. :)

ah, didja see THAT? They were playin musical chairs and Pee Wee was a total dick to the kids that lost, then Miss Yvonne totally PWNED him in the last round!! BWHAHAHAHAHA
