False. G Gundam is awesome.
Worst. Gundam. Ever.

I'm not a big Gundam fan, but MS 08th Team, Wing, and Seed were passable. Not great, but passable. I've heard decent things about 00, so I'll probably watch that one soon-ish.
so i forced myself to watch gundam seed and i liked it. it was a very bumpy start but it started getting interesting after a while. not a great show by any means but it was entertaining enough

what's the best gundam series?
Watch anything from the UC timeline except 0083 because it sucks. It's pretty much an AU show pretending to be UC. Start with 0079, and work your way through the timeline. It'll also help you realize how horrible SEED actually is.

I'm one of the few that enjoyed 0083. I'd go with Z, ZZ, MSG, and pretty much all UC ones...

Gundam 00 for sure.

Wing is an acquired taste, I didn't like. Seed neither...

cool i'll check out 0079

thinking about it, seed had a lots of strikes against it. boring characters, predictable storyline, several plot coincidences, reused animation frames, annoying names (flay, athrun, mu la flaga?), oftentimes boring action (pew pew pew) and other annoyances. despite all that i still enjoyed it :whistle2:?

Not really any surprise, we all saw it coming.

The real surprise was that they snatched Gurren Lagann from ADV. On top of that it's getting an awesome 3 part, sub only release starting in July with the next two coming the next two months. With each part being $30. I love not having to wait for a dub or pay the dub tax. Thank you Bandai.
I'd really like to see sales numbers on current sub-only titles.
As would I, i've always heard they sell terrible.

I will definitely support this. $30 for about 9 episode is a LOT better than 3 to 5 episodes for $30 especially since I don't listen to the dubs.

Yep. They are just going to lose sales by doing it. I certainly wouldn't have made day one purchases on LE Haruhi volumes if it was sub only.

Besides, I don't like to read anime, that's what manga is for.

If I ever learn Japanese I won't care. Until then, I absolutely won't buy a sub-only release of any current title.

Relax dub people. The dub is coming out early next year. For those of us who don't want to wait, nor pay, for your dubs we get it in a couple months and for a cheaper price. Everyone wins.

thanks for the suggestions jaykrue and sigtheman ive got lucky star aready i just havent watched it yet so once i finish bamboo blade ill give it a whirl. ill also check out your other suggestions. also does anyone know where you can find a english sub version of the love hina ovas ? also can anyone tell me whats the deal with avatar not being on tv anymore?

I think the Anime Network used to show stuff subbed. I guess its not too popular as most Americans cant read (i kid, i kid).

I usually prefer subs, but it depends on the situation. Needless to say, when i used to watch anime on my Zune (3 inch screen) at work, it was a bit hard to read subs on the screen and pay attn to what i'm doing. Though oddly enough, if im tired or have a headache or something, watching subs helps me keep alert, and keep my mind off of my headache.

If you really want to see day and night when it comes to sub/dub, watch Ghost Stories.
Woo, "Place Promised in our Early Days" and "5cm per second" came out on Blu-Ray today. Now if i could only find a site that confirms if it has English subs or not.
Really? Crap. Now I'm gonna have to buy Promised again...

I'm mostly a sub guy but I do listen to dubs when I need background noise or having friends over. I like what Bandai is trying to do, I just hope it doesn't make them eat too much money.

Lifted from anime news network

"It is the year A.D. 2307. Fossil fuels on Earth have been depleted entirely, with mankind turning to the next available power source: solar energy. During this time, 3 orbital elevators with solar power generation systems are built, each under control by the Union of Solar Energy and Free Nations (formerly United States of America), the Human Reform League (Russia, China and India) and the Advanced European Union. However, not all countries are able to enjoy the benefits of this system, leading to widespread resentment and war. Arising out of the conflict, a mysterious military organization known as Celestial Being appears, dedicated to end all warfare using Mobile Suits called Gundam. This begins the stories of Gundam Meisters (pilots) Setsuna F. Seiei, Lockon Stratos, Allelujah Haptism and Tiera Erde as they are thrown into conflict between the 3 superpowers and the various other factions."

And the short of it, bunch of fanatics try to end war by threatening to blow the hell out of anybody who starts it.
sub-only = awesome trend.

i've always wanted a sub-only anime channel to watch.
that would be epic tier.
It'll never happen. Companies like to make money.

Couple new Blu-ray annoucements, this time for the US Market:

* Robotech: Shadow Chronicles, TBA
* Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence, TBA

Something not Dragonball from Funi, about time. While i'm not a mech fan, at least it isn't Shin Chan as i'm sure that would be a huge hit on Blu-Ray >.>

Hence my unmitigated use of teh webs I suppose.

I'm part of the market for it, but I don't think it'd be that sustainable unless the paradigm of cable broadcasting changes when things go towards IPTV.

If you're an avid fan of Japanese culture, I'd recommend learning the language. It makes things more enjoyable. :D
Since people are still too lazy to read.
If you mean about the dubs for GL being released later, I saw that and I don't have a problem with waiting for dubs for anything. It is a reasonable compromise. I was one of the people waiting for She-Ra to come out on DVD so I have much patience.

If you mean about Kuroi Kaze's desire for a sub only channel, which was what I was replying to, I didn't see anything where there was one. If I overlooked it in any posts here, my bad.
How did this happen?
ADV lost licenses to all of their new shows when their investor backed out. They got new investors and were able to buy back all of their licenses except for GL, which Bandai immediately snapped up.

So I'm about to get the next Soul Eater eps. and I noticed there's an eps. 1 'Late Night Broadcast' edition. Is there any difference between that and the normal show?

Normal show is edited. Late night broadcast is uncut.

"Note: There's two version of Soul Eater that one of them is the normal version which airs on Mondays and other is "Late Show" version,
which airs on Thursday nights and has some extra scenes in the preview but for the main program it doesn't have any difference from the normal version (at least for first episode)."

Yeah, just got done w/ Late Show eps. 1 and I didn't see any noticable difference between it and the normal run. I thought it might've been a quality difference but both were in HD.

Anyway, so far, it's this, Kurenai, and Tosho Sensou (Library War?) that are my picks for this anime season.

You gotta give RD Sennou Chosashitsu (Real Drive) a chance. A surprise hit for me this season.

Naruto Shippuden movie was a lot better then I thought it would be, yeah still completely made up but it managed to be pretty funny at times .
Is the Naruto movie that Dattebayo put up the real deal or another stupid joke like the Bleach movie they put up a few weeks ago.
It's real. I saw it myself when it first came out. Unlike the Bleach movie (which came out on April 1st), DB have no particular reason to prank. And even if they did, you can just read the torrent file itself as it will usually have an 'n' (for not) or a minus sign in front of the name. For example, say, Naruto Shippuden 56 came out but you weren't sure if it was real. The real eps. would be ns056.torrent while the fake one would be nns056.torrent or -ns056.torrent. I do that everytime I get it off the DB site and haven't been tricked once (though I'm sure there's always a first time).

you know those moments in anime where your jaw drops, you stop breathing and you're astonished at what just happened?

Claymore: (serious spoiler ahead)

i just saw episode 8 where priscilla turns into the awakened one and cuts off both of teresa's arms and then cuts her head off.... holy. fvcking. shit.:shock:

man that movie was horrible. im starting to lose interest in the series overall so that didnt help but this movie was like every other movie. if youve seen any of the other ones its almost the same damn plot. i did like the fight and theres should have been more to them especially lees fight but man i wish theyd do a movie that actually connects to the series in some way.
maybe do the sauske killing orochimaru and some of the akatsuki memebers in a movie.

aside from that if any of you havent seen it yet check out Salaryman Kintaro funny damn seires though the way they ended it was kind of a letdown( too many unawnsered questions).

This should be in spoiler tags.

I'm debating whether I should continue watching Code Geass on [as] or just watch subs....another way ;) Cause this whole week between episodes is a bit much. And I kinda wanna watch R2 while it's airing in Japan.

It is what the 4th movie in? I know what to expect by now when I watch the movies so none of this comes as a shock anymore . Now I just take them for what they are, made up stories featuring Naruto and company, glorified filler and nothing more. So with that in mind yeah I did like the movie, wasn't nearly as corny as the others and they bothered to actually come up with a strategy while fighting. And yeah you really should have put you know what in spoiler tags, that isn't common knowledge yet.

my bad about that spoiler folks i forgot not everyone reads the manga. that said considring the movies are such throw away events they could at least use them to show what other members of of konoha can do and do do . i wouldnt mind seeing one about kakashis father or about how he got his sharingan.

Funny you reminded me of that, Kakashi's story never did get animated, almost 100 episode of filler and that didn't make it to the screen. I wouldn't mind seeing the Kakashi gaiden show up in movie form. But as for others, you have to remember they can't use too many people in the movies, since a lot of characters haven't shown any moves post time skip. Sure they could make up something now, but then what happens if the manga completely contradicts it later?

Speaking of filler holy freaking crap the bleach anime completely just shat upon the manga, that latest episode was so bad I almost couldn't finish it. I knew they were going to have to come up with a filler story and I was fine with that, but then the next episode preview
Showed Ichigo back in the real world ?!
