Mavs to the Finals: Congrats to the Heat
Quick question about the NBA postseason. Is it similar to the NFL, whereas the lowest season plays the highest seed after each round? I was just wondering because I thought thats how it was (#7 beats the #2, then they'd play the 1 (or whatever the highest seed was)), until the other day when I heard the Clippers and Lakers would (possibly could) play each other in the next round if they were to both advance.

Yes, I know its a question I should know the answer to, but to be honest, I haven't followed basketball over the last few years and am slowly trying to get my faith back in the NBA.
No it's in a bracket like the NCAA tournament.

The winner of the 1 vs. 8 seed always play the winner of 4 vs. 5 seed, and winner of 2 vs. 7 plays 3 vs. 6.

Also I think Phoenix blows out LA in Game 7. I would like to see an LA vs LA 2nd round matchup, but I think the Suns have too much momentum now.

Wow was Phil Jackson even watching the game tonight. Not to take anything away from the Suns but Smush Parker is garbage. Almost every possetion down the court at the end of the 4th and in OT they screened Parker easily off of Nash and Parker had to defend someone else that was bigger than him. Phil did not want to maybe adjust to this. Use someone else that might tryand fight through a screen. And then late in the 4th Smush isos and tries to take it to the rim?!??! WHAT?!?! Pass the ball. Give it to Kobe you garbage Smush. Anyway I think the Suns will take this one now that it;'s going back to Phoniex. Kobe is simply amazing though. He needs one more scorer on that team. Can't wait to see Raja vs Kobe in Game 7 though.

Agreed. I can't believe LA is collapsing like this.

If the lakers only had a backup point guard to go to. You want tj ford? please take him from my team, ive had enough of him.

I really hope the Suns win tommorow and crush all the Lakers fans hopes. Not like they would have stood a chance against the Spurs or Mavs.
well that was a rip off.
And game 4 wasn't? I loved how Doug Collins said 'This time they heard him call timeout' when Nash was on the floor calling for a timeout.

fuck doug collins. who the fuck is doug collins anyway?

Awesome.

I bet this douche $20 that smush scored 2 points because he "knows" he scored 0.

Of course he won't pay because he is a douche. I'll just remind him that he can never talk about basketball ever again.

Smush has no skills. He trys and plays 'Iso' but can't, he has no passing skills, and the only reason he plays is because nobody can play point on the LakeShow.

Arenas is going to have a long offseason with those two missed free throws. He had that clutch 3 at the end of regulation, but it kind of sucks to end a playoff run on a sour note like that.

Kind of glad the Spurs won. Finally get the Mavs back into action. I'm definitely going to have to get some tickets for this series.

I wish the Kings would have played a lot better last night and forced a game seven to wear the Spurs out a little more, but now the Mavs get back to playing before they get too rested.

So who do you guys think wins Game 1 in San Antonio?

My prediction - Mavs 83 - Spurs 79

The Spurs are tired right now, and the Mavs are rested and ready to play. I think the Mavs will win this one no matter what, but it could very well be a blowout.
I did'nt realize the game was this sunday, thats crazy BS.

Why is the NBA so stupid to do something like that? They should've made the schedule before the postseason, instead of on a whim. That way they don't have 2 day rests between series. That would've been game 7 had the Kings forced it.

So does that mean the winner of tonights Suns/Lakers game is going to play Monday?
this is a major plus for dallas but they got to win the first two games, it wont be a 4-0 sweep, but the mavs will win.
I think as long as they win one of the first two in San Antonio, they will be sitting pretty. I think San Antonio is too good a home team to lose back to back at home, but I agree, the Mavs will win the series.
i think the spurs will beat the mavericks in game 1 because sometimes after a long lay off, a team comes out stale to start.
ya, but what about teams who only have a day off and who the starting lineup is banged up bad?

Lakers gave up in the 3rd quarter.
They need a serious tune up in the off-season. Smush is a good backup pg but can't handle a full time job. Get Kwame out of there, why the hell did Phil Jackson even want him?

Man, Lakers got their asses handed to them. The Suns crowd sounded like a WWE crowd with the Kobe sucks chants.

Phil probably wanted Kwame in there to see if he could mold him into a better player. And it looks like, finally, that even Phil can't make Kwame a justifiable #1 pick.

That was one of the more pathetic game 7 losses I have seen. The only other one I can think of was the Rockets losing by 40 in game 7 (last year I think).

i love how kobe didn't shoot in the second half to try to quiet haters who say he's a ballhog...they say his selfishness was why they lost game 6, guess not

All Kobe has to do is lose this Barry Bonds-ish asshole quality that he seems to have. All great players have arrogance, but guys like MJ, Bird, and Magic knew when to turn it on and off. Kobe has it on all the time.

Also, try playing some of that team ball during the regular season. The only reason he didn't try to score 50 every game this series was because there is no scoring title on the line in the playoffs. MJ took a lot of shots, but they were INTELLIGENT shots. He wasn't just throwing shit up to the rim.

Kwame showed that he could play some this season. Why get rid of him now? All they really need is a distributor, and they could be really good. Someone like Sam Cassell could really make them go

Exactly. Look at teams that have been transformed by acquiring veteran PGs that distribute the ball. Nash transformed the Suns into title contenders and Cassell helped the Clippers go further than ever before. Those kinds of guys are being replaced by the Stephon Marburys of the world though.
