Ninja Murasaki's Anime Thread

Damn. Next weekend will kick ass as Shino's fight against Kankuro starts up and it's the beginning of Gaara transformation.
Well, the best of that arc is yet to come. Such a great use of a symphonic piece...

Edit: on watching it again just now, I think 126 is my favorite episode of the series so far.
Just finished that arc, which was really good.

What the deuce happened to Eaueka Seven (or however the hell you spell it)? I kind of enjoyed about the first 20 or so episodes, but now they are just running around playing soccer for no apparent reason? This is what happens when a series is dragged out so long that it kills any interest I have in it.

I dunno. I thought the soccer episode was great compared to the stuff that happened in the previous couple episodes. I didn't enjoy the "Everyone help Renton get Eureka" episodes early on in, and I still didn't like them then. At least the soccer episode had the hilarity of seeing Holland get stepped on the face twice in like 5 seconds and then had Renton and Eureka fall on him while he was down.

Yeah saying it's better than the past couple isn't saying much really. And yeah the "love connection" episodes suck noodles, but I really (and I may be in the minority here) liked the Renton leaving/Charles & Ray arc. Aslo the soccer game was horribly cheesy, that was likelythe intention of the series i guess but still. Bottomline for me is that if there was a series that couldn't been halved by the number of epsiodes (not including the overly long ones like Inuyasha, One piece, Naruto, etc.) to reduce needless filler, it is this series.

I've just restarted watching Ergo Proxy and Azumanga Daioh, since (like with most anime I grab) I end up stopping halfway through and never finishing. I'd forgotten how hilarious Azumanga is and how awesome Ergo is.

I actually like the relationship between Eureka and Renton, though I agree the arc with Charles and Ray was by far the best part of the series. What annoys me is I like 99% of the show, but these pointless episodes like the soccer one and most of the episodes in the middle of the series really piss me off.

I was wondering if anyone had any info on the new anime Adult Swim has scheduled to replace Trinity Blood on March 10. Thanks.

What's it called? And about time they replaced that garbage.
What's it called? And about time they replaced that garbage.
Nobody knows yet. It's just labeled as "New Anime" on their schedule.

The AS forums seem to favor Blood+ though I noticed that Shin-chan is being mentioned, too. It'd be awesome if it's Shin-chan that's starting up next month.
What's it called? And about time they replaced that garbage.
It's not announced yet, if AS's schedule is up to date.
I find Brook kinda annoying, but not nearly as annoying as Usopp. Personally, I think the crew is getting a bit inflated.
Am I the only one who wants Usopp to die? He is an absolutely useless, annoying, dumb motherfucker.

Anyone else read the new Naruto yet? His new technique spits hot fire.
Usopp is the man. If Luffy is the heart of the crew, then Usopp is the soul. Time after time, when the guy has had every chance to walk away, he's stepped up to the plate, even if he was looking at certain death. The guy is most definitely not useless.

If you found the sniper inside your heart, I'm sure you'd understand. ;)

I think it'd be cool if it was Ergo Proxy. That would fit well into [as]'s lineup in that Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex kind of way.

Blood+ is pretty awesome. I have yet to see Ergo Proxy, reminds of Blood+ when I look at it though.

The dude with the Violin is my fav =).

It probably wont be Blood+. Sony really seems to be slacking as far as release info goes with the series. I'd rather see Shin Chan.

Ergo Proxy seems like it'd be a wierd fit for AS. But then again, as much as i love Paranoia Agent (and everything else Satoshi Kon does) im still amazed that PA is showing on AS. So i guess Ergo could do good on AS.

Indeed. It is just darn cool.

I'd look forward to it ;)

Paranoia Agent was a trip, I only watched a couple episodes (How many are there?), but the series had me confused at some points up until the end. I like that kind of plot, not very predictable ;)

Good stuff, and I wonder what that bat is made out of? =P
Paranoia Agent is amazing. I wanted the DVD set so bad from Rightstuf, but I just had to hold off.
I love Satoshi Kon's works in general, the man is brilliant.

In other news I found my school's (Cal State Fullerton) anime club, 6 hours of anime watching every monday, aww jeahhh.

13 eps. You gotta watch the whole series to get it. Some of the episodes are pure artistic genius (my favorite, being Episode 10 - the one about the Maromi anime being made). Transworld owned companies had a better deal going on the PA boxset, but unfortunately the better part of it is over (b1g1f). I think they still have it for $35 though.

Nice! Man, it has been a while since I watched anime with some friends. Record of Lodoss War was the last IIRC.

The one I remember the most (b/c I saw it the most) was with the little girl and the 2 guys who are, i think, are already dead?

It was the episode where little slugger runs from the three of them and they end up chasing him

They werent already dead, they wanted to be. They were part of a suicide club (which i guess is a popular thing in Japan). Personally i thought the segment with Shonen Bat running away from them was a huge step back as far as how seriously were supposed to take Shonen Bat in the series. But, if thats how Satoshi Kon wanted it to be, then it shall be :p.

Only 3 or so months to go til Paprika, i cant wait.
So is that Naruto's
first kill?
I mean, that we've seen at least.
maybe, i mean that
fake itachi might have been dead before hand

I love how I'm fairly sure the Shinigami have forgotten the filler happened.
At the end of 114, Matsumoto definitely played it off like she had only been to the real world for a moment and Rukia acted like she hadn't seen Ichigo since he left Soul Society after saving her.
Still, having read ahead and knowing what comes soon, I absolutely love this arc in Bleach. Ulquiorra has such a great voice. I can't wait to hear what Grimmjow sounds like.
What else did Satoshi Kon do? I keep hearing people rave about his work, but the name doesn't ring a bell at all.
Perfect Blue, Millennium Actress, and Tokyo Godfathers. His movies are better than his series.

The first interesting thing of this
save Inoue
arc has finally happened in this latest chapter. The shit's hit the fan and I can't wait for the next chapter now.

So true. Especially Tokyo Godfathers.

Except for Tokyo Godfathers, the rest seems pretty meh.

Noticed this on ANN about the dub cast of that Haruhi show everybody in here is always raving about.

MANY MANY MANY props for the people not nominating Steven Jay Blum for either Best Actor award. I personally cant stand his voice. He was good for Spike & Onizuka, but after that, his voice just got more and more repetitive. His only means of "variety" was talking in a low or snarlish voice (Wolverine in X-Men Legends & Vincent in FF7:AC/DOC).

Below are my choices:

Best Actor
Crispin Freeman (yea i know he ususally uses the same voice too, but his is a lot more tolerable.)

Best Actress
Michelle Ruff (my personal pick would've been Kari Wahlgren, but she's not on here >

Great news from Narutofan:
The very first episodes of the second part of the Japanese Naruto anime series, from now on called Naruto: Shippuuden, entitled: Homecoming and Akatsuki, Action Begins, have been released RAW this wonderful February new beginning of Naruto morning by the one and only friendly neighborhood SaiyaMan.
It's almost here. :D

Anyone else seen Twelve Kingdoms? I'm watching it now and it's pretty good. A nice political drama. Also I finally got the FLCL Ultimate set. A great collection for fans, but I'm still sad because I had bought the seperate DVDs. Oh well, they'll make a nice gift for someone.

Never heard of it.

What comes in the FLCL Ultimate set? (I know I could look it up online, but at least this is spaking some conversation.)

Sorry was at work. I got it for $60 on Amazon. It comes with whole series (duh), a bonus disc with Pillows videos on it, a book that has translation notes and interviews, a t-shirt, postcards and a wristband that says "Never knows best." All in a very pretty package.
Never heard of it.
Sadly not a lot people have heard of Twelve Kingdoms T.T It's about a girl named Youko who learns she's the ruler of a country in another world. It starts off as kind of an adventure story as she makes her way through this new world. But when she becomes queen, and accepts it, it turns into a political drama. As it has her dealing with all the problems one would run into when ruling a country. Especially her trying to deal with ths customs of her people which are completely alien to her.
Episodes 001 and 002 of the new Japanese Naruto: Shippuuden anime series have been released completely translated in to English by the great people at Dattebayo.
DB's got it up. Go ahead and get it! :D
