This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction."

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store.

I was able to buy those games 2 weeks ago but I'm pretty sure they now gone from the store I bought them from.

About the placement, in the Target I went to, there are a few clearance games on the side, but than there is a huge selection/more of a selection a few aisles down. Same thing at the Wal-mart, its kind of dumb, there are other electronics separating the games, I wouldn't have seen it even though I was looking for it if my mom was not with me, I would have left. Though The Simpsons game was behind glass and had several copies (but was 12.48???)

BAH... went to 4 different Targets trying to find one and they're ALL GONE. One Target had a whole bunch of them a couple days ago and I recall most of them having at least a couple.

You think it's possible they took them off the shelves to put new stickers on or something? It's unfathomable that they would all sell out so quickly.

I had managed to pick up one gamecube -5 coupon... not too shabby for $20, box was in good condition too.

I think there were like 3 others left, but one looked like a soccer ball wanna-be.

I was tempted to get another one, but bah...

I was extremely lucky, my targets SUCK for anything clearence... they sell out of games at most retail and never restock them soon enough to clearance them off.. :(
 
Where I got my Gamecube the guy said they have been at that price there for weeks. Maybe someone JUST noticed it? I dunno. I managed to get one tho.

Picked up Timeshift (360) for $19.98, and saw THPG (360) for the same price and Halo 1 for $4.98. There was another 360 game for $29.98, i want to say it was Soldier of Fortune, but I'm not sure. I was too busy grabbing Timeshift.

FYI Timeshift on the 360 is that price for the month of June at Gamestop while they last. It's part of their Game Days promotion and there's a coupon for 10% off in the Guitar Hero World Tour issue of Game Informer.

Ugh game hiders. Seriously, it's kinda like cheating. Finding deals is all about the hunt, if you keep other people from getting to the deals before you, totally unfair. I know one of the Targets I go to has a hider, and whenever I find a good title hidden I either put it out front for everyone to see or buy it to piss them off. I think I ended up with three copies of the Orange Box for PS3 (I don't even have one) because some hider kept sticking them behind random 360 games.

Picked up 2 Gameboy Micro's for $19.98 each. Used the $5 coupon. They were in the case marked $65ish which is likely why I got so lucky.

Hiding games in the game section, very amatuer. I like to find a price a scanner over in another department, like bed and bath. Hide the games behind some comforters, then on Mondays, check at the scanner. Apparently Target frowns on 'hiding' any clearance items, so be careful.
I only did this for a copy of NBA 08 and March Madness 08, but it worked.

Lol first of all its not cheating. The hunt was completed when I found the game. I just want to wait to pay less for it so I play the "side game" of hiding it elsewhere to try and wait it out and hope no one (customer nor employee) finds it and puts it back/buys it. Theres absolutely nothing wrong with that.

As for someone hiding a game behind other games....thats a pretty dumb idea. I hid them in completely different departments lol.
 
The only thing I used the "hide" technique for was a Harmony 720 remote. Hid it behind some flash lights and bought it for $50 about a year ago.

I saw the other day that they are selling it again, at the same Target, for $180.

Items typically have to be scanned by the Price-Change Team in order for the clearance price to be activated. There has to be several visible copies still available in the store so that your hidden copy might get the new price. If you've hidden the only copy, it's more likely that the item will be zeroed-out of the store inventory. You'll be stuck with the lowest sticker price, that's if they even sell it to you at all, when the "item not found" pops-up on the cash register.

I've lost count of the numbers of times you've posted about hiding this game or that game, and now you have the balls to state, "Theres [sic] absolutely nothing wrong with that." There is something wrong with that: you're preventing other customers from purchasing the product at the current price point, thereby denying the customer and the store the sale! It's a selfish act--PERIOD!

If I ever catch somone pulling that crap at the stores I frequent, you can bet I'll be blowing the whistle on them. God, I despise selfish people...
 
Sorry if this has already been posted but since I had a physical location I wanted to let people know... I live in Louisville, KY & was at the Target on the corner of Taylorsville Rd. and S. Hurstbourne last night and saw 10-15 Platinum Gamecubes at Target marked down to $24.99 (or $24.95, can't remember exactly) a piece. AWESOME deal if anyone can make it out!

I usually fill a shopping basket full of games and then dump them in a dryer or washer to hide for a week or two and it works every time!

Oh, and i don't hide games other than putting the ones i like at the back of the clearance shelf rather than the front so casual passers-by don't see them. I just think its absurd that you think you can somehow embarrass or get hiders in trouble.

Saw Karaoke Revolution 360 for $25. I'm gonna go back today to see if I can grab it with the $5 off + $10 off coupons.

Tried to get Heavenly Sword... the computer *says* there's one... either their count's wrong or somebody hid it :(

Guess I'll search automotive and some dryers and see if it was hidden :) If not, guess I'll just wait for Ratchet & Clank.

For those of you picking up Karaoke Revolution on 360 - good pickup. It's really a good game, even if you actively dislike American Idol, it has one of the best tracklists in the KR series, and it has a lot of DLC from the PS2 titles in the series if you don't feel like digging through eBay or doing a lot of disc-switching.
