Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

The Legend of EL HOARDO as told by Strell
No cankle too big and no score too small,
The one and only EL HOARDO.

He'll steal your stash - gonna take it all,
That's the one - EL HOARDO.

He's gonna run down all the aisles
and snatch up all the loot,
And he's feeling really confident
in his nipple protection suit!

Awesome sideburns and a dapper mask
He's at your local store,
Gonna clean out everything
And then go back for more!

Who's the guy in the Star Trek shades?
He's the man they call EL HOARDO.

His boots are secretly roller blades,
There he goes! EL HOARDO!

He's got a cape and it's totally sweet,
A flash in red and white,
Calls his fanny pack his utility belt,
He's ready for a discount fight!

You'd never think he could run so fast,
With a gut of giant size,
Asks all the ladies if they'd like a ride
On his Starship Enterprise!

What's that sound comin' down the lane?
It can only be EL HOARDO.

His stubby legs are gonna bring the pain,
Brace yourselves - EL HOARDO!

He packs a sword, it's a replica,
Like Zorro in disguise,
Gonna leave an H scratched on the wall,
Then he'll move those ten ton thighs!

Knows all the price drops all the time,
Has inhalers to survive,
Lives in a basement at his parents house,
At the age of thirty five!

That's the one who got your penny guide,
The stallion called EL HOARDO.

He's got his Rascal parked outside,
That Man-of-Men EL HOARDO.

EL HOOOOOOOARDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

ElHoardo1.jpg

"You just got...EL HOARDO'D!" __________________

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.
Poster frames at 75% off ($5, normally $20):

[IMG-C=144]11547[/IMG-C]

Somewhat video game related if you are like me and thinking of a good way to display the Club Nintendo Zelda posters which some people have shown can look pretty nice.
Great find. I'm in need of a lot of poster frames. Do you remember if they had any other sizes on clearance?

I have 11 autographed posters I've been dying to frame and hang up. I don't care if they are cheap as hell, as long as I can avoid piercing them with thumbtacks.

I was browsing target.com and found that Call of Juarez Bound in Blood is available at one of my local stores. I know it was on clearance a few months ago, so is there any chance that it's still on clearance?

I bought it a long time ago for $14.98, but since then I have seen it marked back up to $29.99. I didn't actually scan it in the price scanner to double check, but it's probably $29.99. I guess you never know though. Are you feeling lucky?

Actually, if its a store where u find lots of good clearance games, I'd go take a look if i were u.

It has 'limited availability' at 2 stores within 15 miles, so I'll try my luck.

Like you said though, if it's marked $29.99, it's probably back at MSRP. I've gotten lucky before, finding both Assassins Creed and Fable II and my local target . They were marked at MSRP but both rang up under $10 each.

I think I hit everything. Damn, you let the thread go for a week and there's an hour of work to do.

There's a store in Phoenix... somewhere (only was out there for a Craigslist deal, sorry, it was really north though along the 101 when it starts to loop in Phoenix) that had Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. Gonna try my charm when it hits 50% (or even if it hits 75%!) and try to do a return/rebuy.

I just looked and I actually still have the receipt taped to the game case. The date I bought it on was 10/20/09, so that's a pretty long time ago.

I'm a real bastard because I technically got another $5 off this game when I price adjusted with the $10 off 2 360 games coupon back on 11/10/09.
I've never seen Target carry Atlus titles here
I was pretty shocked when I saw that they had it, since I figured it'd only be available in major metro areas(NYC, LA) and never in a Target in a town with a smaller population.

I'm still itching to try my luck by returning them to the one Target down the line from me and hope they slap on 'as-is' stickers(that bumps them up to 50% off) like they did on Chronicles Of Riddick, FEAR 2 and one other game I bought elsewhere.

I'd try my local store, but they're a bunch of pains in the ass when it comes to trying to immediately rebuy stuff you just returned. Plus, I don't think they ever put the as-is stickers on anything, so they'd still be the same damn price.

My advice when doing a return/rebuy is to return it on a day that is not the markdown day and make sure you can swing back by the store in a few hours. For example, return the game, go get some lunch or run another errand, then check back.

As for Call of Juarez: bound in blood :ps3:, I have seen it for $19.96 at several Wal-marts. I'm thinking it is a national thing, the :360: version may be the same price.

I got lucky enough with the last 3 games, in that they were bringing them back to electronics before I even left the store. Unfortunately, my local store has NEVER marked anything clearance that I've returned up to the 50% off mark and most of the clearance around here disappears even before it hits 50%.
Markdowns are generally Monday, not Friday...
Totally store dependent; at least in my experience there is no rule of thumb to go by. In my area only about half of the stores do markdowns on Monday, the other half Thursday or Friday (mostly Friday). Sometimes both. Sometimes neither. That's out of about 10-12 Targets but of course YMMV.

In my experiences the video game clearance markdowns always happen on Mondays. And judging by the posting in this thread, where most new markdowns are mentioned on Monday, that would seem to be the case for most Targets.

Markdowns are done by department. Nationally electronics are 'supposed' to be done on Mondays. As with any corporate entity everything varies by store, but in general he's not wrong.

Agreed. I think some people who might be new to this sort of thing take the whole Mondays thing as gospel and just assume that their Target never has any good clearance when in fact they might just need to go on a different day. *shrug*

Ninja edit: Also, for what it's worth a couple employees have told me they just do their video games / electronics with their other media clearance (music / movies / books) which I think nationally is supposed to be Thursdays. Or at least that's what the internets say.

I've noticed that my Targets seem to do markdowns on Mondays, but add new stock Thursday/Fridays. I'll swing by Monday for a clearance run and see the same stuff, but then if you go over the weekend the clearance racks look to be restocked. (prices don't usually drop but sometimes do)

It's very odd, thankfully my nearest Target is pretty close to keep an eye on.

If there tends to be a lot of clearance, like this last blast of clearance merchandise... usually pricing teams only do so much of a department because they have other departments to do clearance for as well on the same day -- this is part of the reason explaining why sometimes new clearance items pop up throughout the week, or why some stores don't have their electronics/video games marked down on every Monday.

But yes, Monday is the general day that electronics clearance is done.

Clearance is on Fridays here in North Dakota (Fargo and Grand Forks). I have also noticed in posts this may happen in Minnesota. I don't know if it has anything to do with Target being based out of MN or not.

When I lived in Nashville, TN clearance day was Monday.

Picked up what seemed to be the last copy of Demon's Souls for $41.98. 24 packs of coke and pepsi products $5.99, and lots of Valentines items on sale.

Parents called me today and told me they picked up one of those white Nintendo DSi bundles for $118 today. Hmm, well won't be home anyways for a few weeks, maybe it'll drop lower before then xD

anybody seen resistance 2 for a decent price in pittsburgh/western pa? i've checked everywhere in the north hills and it seems to still be full price everywhere

I just saw it mentioned in the Arkham Asylm Sam's Club thread that they got Resistance 2 for something really cheap. not sure if this helps but it may be worth checking or calling them to see if they at least have it in stock

I was at the target near my college yesterday and found beatles rock band bundles clearanced to 179 hoping will go down more also band hero for 139 and lego rock bands for 24.

My Target had the Halo Wars guide for 13.**, not much else. As far as the return/rebuy discussions, if you're desperate, buy a giftcard, tell them you wanna return it for cash then rebuy it on the giftcard. They are usually totally cool with it.

Man, things are finally stocking back up, I need to make a Target trip to pick up general supplies anyways, hopefully I'll spot something

That is YMMV. While out hunting for Arkham Asylum last evening at Sam's Club (didn't find any..), I saw Resistance 2 still priced at $50+

I'm heading to Sam's Club today, I'll keep an eye out for Resistance 2 for ya.

Do clearance games drop under $7.48? My Target still has about 30 copies of Godfather II for $7.48 and I am wondering if it will continue to drop or will they just pull them?

The only worthwhile clearance items I saw today were the Limited Edition Beatles Rock Band set for $147 and Band Hero (didn't check the price).

If anything is ever XX.48 it's usually the final price point for that particular item.

They'll likely go to salvage before another drop so pick one up if you want it.

do you mean $174?

147 is 42% off, which is not a usual Target number.

I've seen (and bought) a few items @ $3.74, though, admittedly, most of those were PC titles.

So have I. XX.48 is generally the final price point though, before it goes to salvage/donation.

xbox 360 wired controllers for 19.98 - 50% off at Highlands Ranch, CO.

Great for PC gaming with GFWL!

Tons of games at Targets but all 30% off.
Poster frames at 75% off ($5, normally $20):

Somewhat video game related if you are like me and thinking of a good way to display the Club Nintendo Zelda posters which some people have shown can look pretty nice.
These are the exact frames I bought last year for my Left 4 Dead campaign posters. If I can find these at these prices, I might have to do the same for the Left 4 Dead 2 campaigns.

No cankle too big and no score too small,
The one and only EL HOARDO.

He'll steal your stash - gonna take it all,
That's the one - EL HOARDO.

He's gonna run down all the aisles
and snatch up all the loot,
And he's feeling really confident
in his nipple protection suit!

Awesome sideburns and a dapper mask
He's at your local store,
Gonna clean out everything
And then go back for more!

Who's the guy in the Star Trek shades?
He's the man they call EL HOARDO.

His boots are secretly roller blades,
There he goes! EL HOARDO!

He's got a cape and it's totally sweet,
A flash in red and white,
Calls his fanny pack his utility belt,
He's ready for a discount fight!

You'd never think he could run so fast,
With a gut of giant size,
Asks all the ladies if they'd like a ride
On his Starship Enterprise!

What's that sound comin' down the lane?
It can only be EL HOARDO.

His stubby legs are gonna bring the pain,
Brace yourselves - EL HOARDO!

He packs a sword, it's a replica,
Like Zorro in disguise,
Gonna leave an H scratched on the wall,
Then he'll move those ten ton thighs!

Knows all the price drops all the time,
Has inhalers to survive,
Lives in a basement at his parents house,
At the age of thirty five!

That's the one who got your penny guide,
The stallion called EL HOARDO.

He's got his Rascal parked outside,
That Man-of-Men EL HOARDO.

EL HOOOOOOOARDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
