People are quiting because you do not get a loss if you quit.
I've been reading about that, but what happened was that I punted and the screen froze and then my kicker sorta slid across the screen and we got a connection error ... I sent a message to let him know I didnt just drop out because I was losing ...he responded and said no worries and said something about a bug in online play .....

Like i said, i only played 1 game, so Im not saying online is bad or anything, just wondering if anyone else had that problem .... or maybe Im just getting my excuses ready for when I lose!! ... LOL!!!

hey, does anyone know who the QB Vikings is?... it's either Rich Gannon or Jim McMahon but I can't nail it down.
hey, does anyone know who the QB Vikings is?... it's either Rich Gannon or Jim McMahon but I can't nail it down.
Jim, he went 8-4 for the 93 Vikings.

So do we have a set defined way to determine the controller 1/2 and 2D/3D decision?

Once we decide for sure, can we have it added to the OP?

Can you switch between 2d and 3d online mid-game? Reason I ask is I HATE the kick direction arrow in 3d and always switch to 2d to do field goals/pat's offline.

Not online.
Schedule is half way done and should be posted online later today. Without having a full league and using pen/paper and not a computer program it is a schedule nightmare to figure out who gets a home game and who gets the away game for 26 teams. Each team does get 2 games against division opponents so that can be split up home/away. Also when you post the result of the games, mention who was the home away team. That way home/away is being watched so nobody goes over 8. If a team somehow goes over 8 home games, they must play with neutral weather and let the opponent choose if they want the ball first or not, same goes for ot.
Why didn't you just use this?

http://www.justissports.net/data/schedgen/sched26.html

It's not perfect, and you'll have to swap AFC East/NFC East, but doing so actually creates an even mix of AFC vs. NFC games (my current schedule has me with 7 NFC opponents and only 3 AFC). It even programs in a bye week for everybody. And you don't have to "keep track" of how many home games you've had. No offense, but that idea is horrible. Considering we're allowing player one to determine 2D/3D (which is fair in my opinion), you also have to acknowledge that player one has a big advantage. Having a concrete schedule with an even number of "home" games is a must for this league.

^ok... well I just played the first game of the league VS. the Raiders... which I played at home and won 10-0... but are we gonna use that concrete new schedule, cause I don't play the Raiders on that one...

Don't really care if the game ended up being "exhibition" just make the call.

Falcons def. Raiders, 10-0 at home, in 2D.

I don't know if 2D is stupid slow online or I'm just not used it but I don't see why anyone would play 2D vs the widescreen 3D. Seemed to be a big delay in notifying me who had the ball and who my passing options were.

About the schedule I proposed, I'm not trying to tell wildcpac what to do...and I don't care which schedule we use. But I do think having concrete home games, so we don't have any resentment about who was player one is absolutely necessary. I mean, look at the one played game already. Even though he's being a good sport about it, I'm sure ubernes wishes he had been player one. How did you guys decide it? Was it an "I don't care. Do you want it?", "Ah man, it doesn't matter to me." kind of thing? Just think it would be good to avoid all that pussyfooting.

I agree 100%. I didn't really care who was home because I realize I have to play X amount of away games anyways. But home/away was simply decided by who invited who first.

I like the idea of having some kind of schedule that tells me who I am supposed to play each week, and when I am supposed to be player 1 - I can see later in the season that 2 teams meet up that have already played their 8 'player 2' games and someone would have to play 9 or 10 away games .... but I'm OK if we keep what we have since the league has started (or maybe generate another schedule that has Falcons playing the Raiders at some point) ---- Im guessing with the current schedule, I can play anyone on my schedule list at any time and we decide the home/away when we meet up?

Anyway, Thanks n8rocker (even though your a Yankee's fan, LOL!) .... That is an extremely helpful link that I will use on my own!

edit - sorry, I just read there was a rule in place for going over 8 home games, with the current schedule ... but yeah, player 1 has a HUGE advantage with this game, so making sure its 8 and 8 and that no-one goes over is really nice!!

Thanks. I tried doing a search for an online site like that. How did you imput the teams? I did a schedule based on the league standings for 1993. So the schedule is something of how the 1994 season would be. First place teams playing first place teams, etc.

Thanks for setting things up, but I suggest that for the next tournament we take a different approach and not assign teams to individuals. Instead perhaps having people matched up and then they choose teams. Scheduling would say who gets first choice for a given match. Or something like that. Maybe I'm just a newb, but in playing it seems that teams vary wildly in skill level. Being stuck with the Pats or whoever I have now, I suspect I'll have no hope. Or maybe everybody has to play once as each different team. I don't know. Something of that sort. Or am I way off here? I might be - I never played the original and so this is new to me. And mind you, i'm just playing forfun so I don't mind being stuck with a weak team. I'll just be shooting for a .500 season, or something close. :)

I just put them in as you have them listed in the "Standings" spoiler. I just swapped the AFC East and NFC East (since we need two divisions in the NFC with 5 slots). I wish the site was a little more flexible, but what it does, it does very well. It wasn't even something I was aware of. I just googled "26 team schedule generator" and that was like the first or second link, haha.

The problem here is you're confusing "season" with "tournament". This is a league, not a Street Fighter tournament. The reason the teams vary greatly in skill is because they're based on ACTUAL TEAMS from 1993. And yeah, the Patriots were horrible back then. The only "fair" thing I could see doing for next season would be doing a draft for teams, just like they do in the NFL for players. The team with the worst record this season gets first pick of team next season. But we also don't need to get ahead of ourselves. Let's get through one season first.

Thanks. I used the site and put the NFC East back in the NFC. Sorry to the Bucs, but they were moved the the AFC Central.

Destro, just treat the game like an exhibition game.

Yeah, I thought of doing that also, but I didn't want to screw with the divisions. Either way probably works fine though, and moving the Bucs would even up the number of teams in each conference. I think the main emphasis is lining up the non-conference games so that everything stays even and certain divisions face certain divisions. Sorry I didn't find that for you sooner. Probably could have saved you a lot of time.

we can play the games in any sequence right? meaning, we don't have to play week 1, week 2, etc.. I'm sure that we can play the games out of order but just making sure.

Yeah. That would be a schedule nightmare to try to be on at the same time as the person for each week. Plus you can play more than 1 game a week but the minimum is 1 game.

Also, kind of an obvious reminder for people, but since each team plays their division rivals twice, it should be fairly easy to knock out two games in one sitting. Just make sure you switch who sends the challenge for the 2nd game, and you can get two games out of the way rather quickly.

To give you guys another update, I changed my gamertag from Ripthejacker80 to Tha IllusiveMan. The team I have is the Eagles. Please update the OP to reflect this thanks.

Played two games. First with HydroX. Denver 0 - Buffalo 14. He had some bad luck, threw a pick early, which led to my opening score. Then fumbled the ball on his next drive. Then, on a 4th quarter drive, I guessed his play, chose to control my DB, read his pass, and picked it clean. The first two turnovers were shit luck, but that one I actually feel proud of. I scored after that to make it 14-0. Game would have been very close otherwise.

Then, I played Pure Apathy. The game was a lag shitfest. Barry Sanders is hard enough to tackle, but when he's jumping 20 yards all over the screen, it's near impossible. I hung close in the first half, playing as player two, forcing two interceptions, and entering the locker room tied 7-7. On the first kick off after the half, the game was lagging and stuttering horribly. I didn't even see my return guy catch the ball, and instead of taking a touchback, he brings it our of the endzone and fumbles at the 7 yard line. On the next play, Apathy scores to go up 14-7. That's when I turned my 360 off. If you want to give him the 14-7 win, that's fine. But I felt like I was going to have a freaking seizure from watching my players teleport around the field.

I don't want to throw Apathy under the bus because he's a good guy, but anybody who knows him knows he's notorious for having shitty internet. Considering the game I had just finished (in which I was also player two) had no lag, it's hard for me to accept alternative possibilities. But obviously, more opinions should be gathered before any conclusions are drawn. If it was just me, I have no problems taking the 14-7 loss. Sorry Apathy. Nothing personal. But the gameplay experience was terrible.

Just did that, I was going through the threads and noticed it on page 8 or so.

Standings shall be updated at the end of each day. Please copy, paste and save your schedule.

Well let apathy post on here his thoughts. I nominate a redo or at the very least you two play another half with him up 7 at the start and play until halftime. If it's still tied after halftime, treat the 3rd quarter like sudden death. I really do not want to see lag games count in the standings.

Well, we talked and he said it wasn't that bad for him. I just fear this is another "player one/player two" issue. Traditionally, player one is usually the host. If his connection can't handle that, it's going to be ugly. Like I said though, maybe it WAS me. I just couldn't finish the game like that. It was giving me a headache. But yeah, I'd rather take a loss than two Advil, haha.

Nate that was back at my old place when I had to use a verizon wireless evdo card to access the internet. I have an apartment now and have cable internet so my connection shouldn't be an issue anymore.

I know that first game I played against you for fun was a lagfest for me when you were hosting. But then everything was good the second time we played. I've also played FrankySox and Matt Young and those games were lag free.

We can redo the game if you want, but like I said my connection is no longer an issue like it was back in the NHL league.

Matt if you want to get our two games out of the way I'm online now. I also can't accept new friend requests cause I'm sitting at 100 right now.

I just ran a speedtest too and this was my result:
