    What is/was your college major?

Depends what you want to do with it. If you want to be a researcher/professor the PhD is practically a prerequisite. If you would rather work in industry or do engineering management, you'd probably be better off with the MBA/M.S. combo.

Best way to plan for your future as a young adult?

The biggest benefit to an IRA is that it provides a tax shelter for your investments to grow for retirement. They are still ordinary investments (stocks, bonds, mutual funds, etc.). Someone had mentioned both a Roth and traditional IRA. The main difference is: Traditional: Money is contributed...

    PS3 HDMI Cable

I've seen HDMI cables in the $10 - $15 range at Walmart before. Might be worth a look if you have to buy retail.

Ipod Touch deals or good coupons?

The 16 GB was $360 at amazon yesterday, but it seems to be back up to $390 now. I don't know if you'll get it that cheap again, but it may go on sale again before xmas.

Office 2007 Ultimate $60 for students!

A lot of schools have the MSDN-AA that gives out free copies of Windows, Visual Studio, etc. However, they only give out a select few of the Office apps, and not Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Outlook. If you want these and don't want to pirate, this is probably the best price you're going to get...

What are some of the better Verizon cell phones?

I've had the VX8600 for about 2 months now and I really like it. If you want a regular filp phone it's a good choice: well designed, thin, durable, and with 2 nice screens. Also, with BitPim it's easy to use the bluetooth to work around Verizon's blocks for transferring your own ringtones. The...

EXTREMELY bad news for CAGs and all bargain lovers

Agreed, I don't see this having a huge impact on games since for the most part the margins that retailers make on each unit are so slim there isn't much incentive for drastic price wars, at least not in the initial few months after a game is released. Any noticeable discounts, like the sales...

EXTREMELY bad news for CAGs and all bargain lovers

It wouldn't have to be that complicated. Based on the decision it seems that producers would now have legal precedent to force retailers to contractually agree to a set pricing scheme. Any retailers that broke the agreement would probably then be subject to legal action for breeching the...

EXTREMELY bad news for CAGs and all bargain lovers

Having worked at the corporate level for a large retailer I can tell you that there are companies, most notoriously Apple, that have been practicing similar methods unofficially for years. It's a part of brand maintenance, in that having stores habitually sell the item at a reduced price will...

    Best Creditcard?

I agree with the Citi cash back card if you spend a lot on food and gas. I received about $270 back last year due to spending a lot on gas for my long commute. Citi also has a good website for managing your accounts online and making payments directly from your checking account.

Best deal on 1GB PC 3200 400Mhz RAM

Depends how much you're looking to spend. Newegg caries some crucial and corsair 1 GB sticks in the $75 -$80 range that should do well for must uses. If you want to go a little cheaper you can go with a no name brand.

    Does anyone use Ruckus.com?

I've used it a little for the past year since my school had a subscription to it before they opened it up to all .edu accounts. The music is free but heavily DRMed WMA files which can only be played in the Ruckus player (though fair use is your friend, google if you don't know what I mean) and...

    Help with HDTV

Before buying any model make sure to read up about it on www.avsforum.com. The boards there will have lots of user feedback from people who are very anal about their home theater, giving you a good idea of the pluses and minuses of all the different models. Also, how far back from the set do...

Anyone have Comcast services? Need a little help here.

Also, you should ask about the HD-DVR combo box. When I signed up for cable a few months ago they gave it to me for the same price as the regular HD box. Not only does it have the DVR but it also has an HDMI output, as opposed to the regular HD box which has DVI.
