It actually wouldn't play in VLC for me the first time around.
I've used that, Media Player Classic, and Zoom Player (uninstalled that one though, I think that is what may have caused my problems in the first place). I prefer sticking with Windows Media Player though because I like the easy access brightness controls in it. Most files look too dark to me and I'd rather adjust brightness in the player than adjust gamma on my desktop.
