Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

The Legend of EL HOARDO as told by Strell
No cankle too big and no score too small,
The one and only EL HOARDO.

He'll steal your stash - gonna take it all,
That's the one - EL HOARDO.

He's gonna run down all the aisles
and snatch up all the loot,
And he's feeling really confident
in his nipple protection suit!

Awesome sideburns and a dapper mask
He's at your local store,
Gonna clean out everything
And then go back for more!

Who's the guy in the Star Trek shades?
He's the man they call EL HOARDO.

His boots are secretly roller blades,
There he goes! EL HOARDO!

He's got a cape and it's totally sweet,
A flash in red and white,
Calls his fanny pack his utility belt,
He's ready for a discount fight!

You'd never think he could run so fast,
With a gut of giant size,
Asks all the ladies if they'd like a ride
On his Starship Enterprise!

What's that sound comin' down the lane?
It can only be EL HOARDO.

His stubby legs are gonna bring the pain,
Brace yourselves - EL HOARDO!

He packs a sword, it's a replica,
Like Zorro in disguise,
Gonna leave an H scratched on the wall,
Then he'll move those ten ton thighs!

Knows all the price drops all the time,
Has inhalers to survive,
Lives in a basement at his parents house,
At the age of thirty five!

That's the one who got your penny guide,
The stallion called EL HOARDO.

He's got his Rascal parked outside,
That Man-of-Men EL HOARDO.

EL HOOOOOOOARDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

ElHoardo1.jpg

"You just got...EL HOARDO'D!" __________________

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.
That's just the way they do it. They refund the original purchase and make you rebuy the new item at the current price. A manager might adjust for you, but that is YMMV.

This has happened to my wife more than once buying clothes on sale for the kids and trying to exchange them for a different size after the sale is over.
You can also use it to your advantage. Buy a game that's in greater quantity at a higher price at one Target, then return and rebuy at the Target with the lower price.
The simple solution is to buy the replacement item at the second store (regardless of price) and then immediately return the item from the first store there using the second store receipt. They don't need to know that you bought the same thing at another Target for a cheaper price.
Exactly.

I don't think that would work as he opened the item and it is defective. I would talk to the manager. If they give you flack, is there an option to call corporate?

Just want to first thank you all for trying to help.

I DID call corporate at the Target store while I was there and this is what happened.

When I call I get (no offense to anyone) sent to overseas people like if you were calling MS.

Anyway...

The first dude I spoke too named 'MACK' ...tells me that its all good and that he wants to speak to the manager so the manager can do it (price adjusted exchange so long as its the same exact item - so not like one of you that said your wife is changing 'it' for a different size as in that scenerio your not getting everything for the SAME, your asking for the same BUT different - my transaction would be different in that your getting A for A not A for A.5).

The manager at the store REFUSED to speak to the guy and said he wanted THEM to call the store. I guess I could understand this since the manager doesnt want to think hes talking to a friend of mine or something.

Anyway the manager finally gets my cell phone and just tells the guy that he wants THEM to call him and that if its not possible what number does HE call to get 'him' (Mack).

The guy tells him (I had it on speaker) that he doesnt have an extension but that he can call and speak to anyone and they would help out.

So the manager does. He calls and goes away into the back.

I dont know what he says to Corporate at that point, all I know is he comes back with a smart ass look on his face and says to talk to them myself (on the store phone).

I get the phone and the 'other' overseas dude (not 'Mack' but some other dude who's name I dont recall) is suddenly agreeing with the manager and that nothing can be done.

So we get 2 'corporate' guys saying two different things ....but obviously the manager goes with the one saying he's in the right.

End of story.

I went and called a Target in my area today and didnt ask about my specific situation as I dont want to alert them if I go there. I just asked what would happen if I went back and they didnt have the item to exchange...they said I'd get a refund.

Now that seems nice but if I wanted my money I wouldnt of bought the game to begin with.

So I am going to try again at another Target and if they give me crap too I gotta tell you guys that this situation is fucked and I would hope that none of you ever run into this same deal because its BS and frusterating as hell.

Today saw a couple of new additions:

Street Fighter IV :pc: - 27.98
Resident Evil 5 :360: - 27.98
Bakugan something something :360: - ??

As well as the Lego Rock Band drops already mentioned. Seems like folks are still a-buzz with the Christmas spirit since most of the good stuff has already been picked pretty clean.

it's always about copyright laws, they think you might have burned the game and tried to return it for a refund -_- YMMV on getting a refund with the manager

Also it's store practices, once you get the new game they automatically gut the new copy to prevent people to do the switcharoo tactic.

Its an exchange...

Not a return.

They WANT to return the game so that I pay the full price later. (they must underestimate CAGs and our ability to hold out for a lower price)

They had no problems RETURNING the game (open or not - yeah you read this right) . In fact the manager said OK to that because the dude I guess saw that I really wanted it and figured I'd buy it sooner rather than later for more money. ( because why else would he do a RETURN and not exchange - unless I paid the difference)

Seems crazy right? I cant believe that I am fighting a store for an EXCHANGE (for the same exact item) and not a return.

I think you're in the right, but I am sure someone at some point found a way to exploit this for something other than legitimate means, hence the policy. Not sure what it could be though.

Saw...

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 Strategy Guide - 13.98
Singstar Queen - 19.98
Guitar Hero Metallica - 27.98
Lego Indy 1 - 13.98
Star Wars: TFU - 13.98

and the MW2 Hardened Editions still holding at 55.98

Got Quantum of Solace PS3 for 14.xx It was locked up and then they had to walk it up front so I could check it out? There are 20.xx games not locked up but I have to walk up front with this one? Most of the clearance games were locked in the cases and not on the end cap clearance. There were some on the end cap but only guitar hero ds. This is totally new and it sucks. I did see guitar hero metallica ps3 for 19.xx in clear lake shores, Tx Target

Saw 3 copies of Beatles Rock Band Premium Bundle for the 360 for 30% off. ($179, I believe)
Along with that 2 copies of Band Hero for the 360 for 30% off. ($110, maybe?)

A few other things, but nothing great.

I agree that may be the case but what pisses me off is that one corporate guy says one thing and another says something else.

Anyway, I will try at another Target or maybe Targets since there are a few around here and see what happens.

If it cannot get done (which is DUMB because theyd lose more money by giving me a return instead of just doing an exchange...talk about dummies - unless there's something I dont know about since I dont work in retail)...I will go ahead and just RETURN it like they said to do and I'll get my money back (all of it - like they said they'd do without issue) and go buy it at BB, Walmart, Gamestop, Amazon, eBay etc. etc. etc. whenever the price drops or gets a discounted deal.

Jeez like I said before, I hope you guys never have to deal with this mess. Just make sure you get a decent looking copy when getting these clearance games. Mine seemed OK but when I opened it, the disc was slightly cracked....due to either a manufacturing issue or just Targets employees treating the games like footballs. In any case, the game doesnt work
The simple solution is to buy the replacement item at the second store (regardless of price) and then immediately return the item from the first store there using the second store receipt. They don't need to know that you bought the same thing at another Target for a cheaper price.
Thats exactly what I do. Never had a problem.

ONCE AGAIN TARGET FAILS ME.

In hoping to find :360: MW2 Hardened Edition for $55.xx, nothing came up. I go to look at the Playstation Aisle, one copy of :ps3: MW2 Hardened Edition w. the red sticker at $55.xx. Oh well, I guess i'm making the trip to the College Point Target

saw a ton of shaun white target edition for ps3 at $10.48 in baltimore county, MD
also saw a ton of 500GB seagate free agent external hard drives for $63.74 (is this even a good deal?)

It'll probably be a good deal in a week or two when it starts hitting 50% off and eventually 75% off.

Delran, NJ:

Demon's Souls (PS3): $41.98
Guitar Hero: Metallica (PS3): $27.98
IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey (PS3): $20.98
Street Fighter IV (PC): $27.98
Got Quantum of Solace PS3 for 14.xx It was locked up and then they had to walk it up front so I could check it out? There are 20.xx games not locked up but I have to walk up front with this one? Most of the clearance games were locked in the cases and not on the end cap clearance.
I actually like this better, people only see what they want to. When its on the endcap they see clearance and buy. When its in the case they see the price and move on. Never really knowing the labeled price is incorrect or for a diff game. Ive actually been lucky the past couple trips and found multiple games in the case.
On a side note, no price drops in my area. Still if you want Shaun white for :ps3: they have tons in Prattville Target for 10.xx.

Ended up picking up GTA: Chinatown Wars for the DS for $13.98. Could have tried to have waited another week, but I think it'll be worth it at that cost.

Just noticed the tag: "el hoardo" lol. Anyways Force Unleashed for both systems at 280 Target in BHam for 13.98. Few others that were decent too. Most everything was behind the cases this time around - which is rare for 280.

All three targets I went to were like this.
Tons of DS games all at 20 range. I did see the Seagate 500Gb for 63 bucks.

fuck man, none of the ones in LA are anything like that. Anyone seen GTA Chinatown Wars DS, Dead Space PS3, or Demon's Souls on clearance at any LA/SoCal locations???

Dead Space has been gone since the summer.

My Target never had Demon's Souls to begin with. Still hasn't even put out Fallout 3 GOTY.

Dead Space PS3 was around until the Christmas season at one Target I visit.

Also, someone must have found a couple copies of SFIV :pc: at the Target I went to tonight because two copies of it showed up at 30% off today sometime.

I saw a copy of Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2, for PS3 even, before Christmas time, forgot how much it was, but did not get it. Needless to say, it was gone. Anyone might have a clue how much the full price suppose to be?

Burbank had Demon's Souls, but someone cleared both copies out, along with all of the Mario DSi bundles. I was hoping at least one would hang on for 50% off, but I guess I was just being naive.

Went to 2 Targets in Biscayne, Florida and found a bunch of Ds/Wii games. Not much in the way of 360/PS3:

PS3:
- Resistance 2 - $41.xx
- Quantum of Solace - $20.xx
- Lego Indiana Jones - xx.xx

360:
- Fallout 3 - $27.xx
- Star Wars TFU - $13.xx
- Midnight Club LA - $20.xx

*FINAL UPDATE*

Final update on my clearance game return issue in case any one runs into this problem and might not be able to do a swap of it so easily via the method some have explained should the case arise that it be a something different like say a 360 console or whatever that has a serial number (for example the dudes that got lucky and bought the MW2 Edition console for 279 etc.)

Anyway so I decided to call Target corporate one last time (during the daytime - 3pm) and hopefully get a local representative and not an overseas script reader.

I lucked out and got a very nice local representative (OK I'll say it - American - no offense to those of you overseas) which immediately took all the info down and apologized profusly for the store managers ERROR at not giving me the straight up exchange for the SAME item.

She said he was wrong and that she would make it a point to have corporate call up that store and let them know that they we wrong (that manager and the other 2 team members present) and were not following correct policy. She also said that their overseas reps were obviously misinformed and apologized for that as well.

So, she even was nice enough to call up another store which had my game in stock and got it all set up ahead of time so all I did was walk in and get the swap in less than 2 seconds.

Meh. I have been to a bunch of targets and seen all this stuff...even the good stuff like Demon Souls that some ppl have trouble finding but honestly it can pretty much all be had in abundance at the same prices or just slightly more or less shipped on Ebay. Need to hit another markdown before this stuff gets really good... More like the $4.98 Skate 2s that were left when they were still auctioning at $20-30. I found a few decent scores but few and far in between compared to Fall. Hope with this influx there are quick markdowns and lots of stuff still hanging around.

I noticed that at Targets with the standard glass cases and loose games, the clearance selection is a bit better than those with the stupid retractable display boxes with the prices under them.

To my surprise, one of the Targets in our area had a clearance isle as stacked as that. (RE5 for 27, Guitar Hero Smash Hits 27, Star Wars TFU: 13, and quite a few other games), though, the majority of the stuff was overpriced, seeing as they had around 10 RE5's and 8 GH's, i took one of each and hid them (Normally i wouldnt do this because i hate people that do it, but they had so many @_@)

Ok so seems for the most part Target went from nothing to endcaps full last week, so how long does it typically take for games to drop a second time from when they go on clearance? 2 weeks, 4 weeks??

anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months to hit final clearance depends on how well the item sells at each price

Meh, even when the endcap looks like that, there could be nothing there worth buying. You actually have to dig through all the crap to actually find a single item worth purchasing.

Wow, I never see this much games on clearance on my local targets. Maximum i seen is 15-30 games is the most.

I have seen this at some of the locals , there will be a ton of games and you cant believe your eyes till you start going through the games , Shovelware , PS2 games at 30% off , the games you would want are at 30 % off ( and a true cag will wait for that last drop before its too late ! ) . The Prices hold steady and then just when you think today is the day that the prices have fallen someone has just gut checked your granny , they gone ! All of the games you wanted poof ! Gone ! All thats left in the aftermath is Petz Games or Imagine games or Imagine Petz games ! Sadly Ive learned this lesson all to well ( cant tell you how many pets and imagine games the kids have ! ) , but sometimes there is redemption and you do find that magical game at 75% off or the holy grail 88 % off . All in all im a sucker cuz I still riffle through em like a madman let loose ! :) sorry I tend to ramble

Several of my Targets had endcaps that looked like his as well. Nothing really worth getting at 30% off though.

 None of my Targets EVER have clearance endcaps that look like this. Although, with all of the copies of the Guitar Hero On Tour/Decades(I think) Nintendo DS double pack that lingered for the last 3-4 weeks at $40 something, it came close recently. There had to be somewhere around 40-50 of them on the shelf.

Anyway, if anyone goes to pick up one of those Bluetooth headsets(like the one in the blue and clear package by the 30% off sign in the pic above), be careful since one of the ones at my local Target was swapped out for someone's dirty and scratched up old BT headset.

So buyer beware on that.

As for me, I'm headed out of town tomorrow and Friday, though I think I'm going to be restricted to the auctions both days. So no plundering my old favorite Target/Best Buy/Gamestop/Sears stores that I always hit when I went outta town for work.

I picked it up for last week for the same price, and have found it is well worth the original MSRP.

I had put off buying it because I was one of the few who didn't like GTA3, and subsequently skipped the rest of the series, but GTA:CW is all sorts of awesome and is up there with some of the best of the best on the DS. Highly recommended!

if anyone hasn't picked up demon's souls yet you should. $40 is a steal and honestly probably one of the best games of all time. Not my type of game either but I have been glued to the Game for about 8 hours now! That and NHL 10 take up all my time these days. I sometimes try to put demon's souls into my PS3 but hesitate because I know its gonna screw my day off over!

Dropped by this morning to my local Target, and they had no endcaps devoted to games. The red tags were scattered throughout the video game section, behind the glass cabinets, in the "19.99 or less" bargain shelves, etc.. Nothing special to note except that they had a crap ton of $7.98 Godfather IIs. I mean, they had a shit fuck ton of them.
