Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

The Legend of EL HOARDO as told by Strell
No cankle too big and no score too small,
The one and only EL HOARDO.

He'll steal your stash - gonna take it all,
That's the one - EL HOARDO.

He's gonna run down all the aisles
and snatch up all the loot,
And he's feeling really confident
in his nipple protection suit!

Awesome sideburns and a dapper mask
He's at your local store,
Gonna clean out everything
And then go back for more!

Who's the guy in the Star Trek shades?
He's the man they call EL HOARDO.

His boots are secretly roller blades,
There he goes! EL HOARDO!

He's got a cape and it's totally sweet,
A flash in red and white,
Calls his fanny pack his utility belt,
He's ready for a discount fight!

You'd never think he could run so fast,
With a gut of giant size,
Asks all the ladies if they'd like a ride
On his Starship Enterprise!

What's that sound comin' down the lane?
It can only be EL HOARDO.

His stubby legs are gonna bring the pain,
Brace yourselves - EL HOARDO!

He packs a sword, it's a replica,
Like Zorro in disguise,
Gonna leave an H scratched on the wall,
Then he'll move those ten ton thighs!

Knows all the price drops all the time,
Has inhalers to survive,
Lives in a basement at his parents house,
At the age of thirty five!

That's the one who got your penny guide,
The stallion called EL HOARDO.

He's got his Rascal parked outside,
That Man-of-Men EL HOARDO.

EL HOOOOOOOARDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

"You just got...EL HOARDO'D!" __________________

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.
All very cryptic. What the hell is in "the back?" Is there like some wise being back there that determines what happens to games that are "no longer in the system?" Is it the Trash Heap? Does she determine what stays and what goes?
Their secret stash area?

Found RE5 for PS3 (only two copies) for 20.xx yesterday. I was just there this past Thursday and the endcap was completely different only a few days later. There was only one left after I bought it, so I'm sure it's gone by now.

For a while, I thought Target had given up the Clearance business, but now they have three endcaps with clearance, most of which have Guitar Hero crap on them.
I'm not sure what some of the complaints are about the new setup. The old ones still have the games locked in plastic that require an employee to get. For people concerned about effect on clearance, the ones with the new setup still had as good clearance as the Targets near me with the old setup. Of course, now all Targets seem to be dry.

Personally I like Walmarts' new setups where every game is in its own plastic coffin so you can look at it and take it to the register. Unfortunately Walmarts' prices rarely have me wanting to buy anything there.

If your Target has the scanners that you can punch in the DCPI, every shelf tag has the 9 digit number for the item. Handy to use for items that don't have clearance tags.
For what it's worth, Target's new system is 100 times better than Gamestop's current system ;)

There is one problem that I noticed that I haven't seen mentioned yet. It has been my experience, especially with PS3 and 360 games, that the last copy in the security device (the one where you can look at the back of the box) usually has some slight damage to the box in the back. It seems kind of like the fit of the plastic casing is too tight and it leads to an indentation in the back of the box. Not a huge problem for sure, but to a collector like me, a minor annoyance.

Wanted to share what I found today. I was in West Palm Beach, FL for business today and I happened to pop into a Target, looking for Harmony remotes and hard drives. They had the new, clear prison setup for the games, but what was crazy was the clearance end cap that we all troll. On it were no less than 50+ Nintendo Wii/DSi 2000 point cards, the one in the blister pack. Here's the kicker: marked down to $9.97!! Yes, they had the point cards that were on sale for $17, but those were the ones they swipe at the register. I picked up 5, 3 for my nephew and 2 for me. :)

If you are in the area, it is the on at 1760 Palm Beach Lakes Blvd, West Palm Beach, FL.

OFF TOPIC:
You leave every game sealed??? - man I could not do that.

If you do not, you're not a collector - just a hobbyist who likes his items in pristine condition (there is nothing wrong with that). Any collector of anything worth any value will tell you that if the seal is broken on an item - especially a modern mass produced item - it is pretty close to worthless. There's a huge difference between the two. Gamers who like their stuff mint throw around the 'collector' word as if it adds something to the validity of their hobby choice - there is nothing wrong with being a hobbyist who likes their stuff in mint condition.

i know i asked this earlier but can someone post a pic of the "plastic prison" display cases. My targets havent switched and what to know what to expect.

Nope, the factory seal eventually comes off (sometimes it could take years though) ;)

But I disagree with your assessment. Just because some of my games are opened, doesn't mean I'm not collecting games. I'm a hobbyist and collector.

collector: a person who collects books, paintings, stamps, shells, etc., esp. as a hobby.

hobbyist (from hobby): an activity or interest pursued for pleasure or relaxation and not as a main occupation

Both definitions apply to me.

dude, are you serious? You don't have to leave things sealed to be a collector.

seriously man, get off your high horse.

I keep a few things sealed but that doesn't mean that my opened games aren't collectible. Or that a person who "collects things" can't call themselves a "collector" because you don't think they are worthy. Who the f are you?

plus, i got a nice book collection that has been (OMGZ) read through and is still worth more money than your car.

edit: to be fair, I'm assuming his car isn't worth very much.

Gamers who like their stuff mint throw around the 'collector' word as if it adds something to the validity of their hobby choice - there is nothing wrong with being a hobbyist who likes their stuff in mint condition.
can a person [gamer] be both a 'hobbyist' and a 'collector' at the same time?

let's say, 'this person' buys copies of multiple versions. a special edition, a limited edition, and two copies of the regular edition. opens up one of the regular editions to play, but keeps the other three sealed. in these instances, could 'this person' be considered as both a 'hobbyist' and a 'collector' in your perspective?
were "going to the back." ... they "might come back out."

All very cryptic. What the hell is in "the back?"
I am puzzled by this as well. Especially at Target and Wal-Mart, where they seem to hold products in temporary suspension, then bring them back out many years later.

It's been a long time since I've worked retail, so many things could have changed.

I jsut bought a wii and was looking to download mario 64 on the wii...anybody know how many of these cards it would take to "purchase" super mario 64?
Each card has 2000 points on it and most N64 games (including Mario 64) cost 1000 points. The lone exception is the import game, Sin and Punishment which runs 1200 points.

I went to two stores today and found zipooo! Not one decent 360 game!

If any of the *nice* hoarders who live in the NY/Long Island area who have Beatles Rockband and want to possibly trade for PS2 drums + something or whatever, PM me. I will meet - local target :) to save shipping that gigantic box.

I did pick up a Microsoft wireless mouse for $4.xx and found a HP 60 ink/photo paper combo for $5.48. Ill never use the paper, but just for a color cartridge its cheap. Tons of Roxy headphones - various sizes on sale. Also price drops on all the garmin accessories.
Does anyone else find the following amusing: Target is redoing their games section, which wasn't really problematic to begin with, and yet K-Mart, which *desperately* needs to redo their games section, hasn't done so in, well, like...ever? Talk about the rich getting richer...
:whistle2:$Shhhhhh. If Kmart actually redesigned their game section, the goldmine stores some of us still have might be lost forever. Of course, they would have to hire employees who give a shit about providing customer service first who wouldn't be lethargic about updating the price stickers. Thank God many of the employees have gone back to being lackadaisical in their duties in electronics since the last 'crackdown'.;):applause:

But many of my local Kmarts DID rearrange their electronics a bit, though that only involved moving their game cases from one wall in electronics to the opposite wall.
If they let me buy it tomorrow morning, I will finally be cheaper than IATCG!
What are you buying for so cheap that would make you cheaper than me? Lest you not forget, I price matched a fuckin' penny guide to Circuit City back in the day AND jokingly asked them for the additional 10% or whatever off from the price match. NO ONE has topped that one yet.;)

Yes, I know that story. I'll let you know after I try to pull it off tomorrow morning. ;)

EDIT: since that Target closes in 6 minutes, I'll give you a hint: what have you been trying to find that would ring up as $40 at 75% off? :p

The monitor I bought for $150 back in February(that's having some pixel issues now:cry:). Your store already may have it at 75% off? I already knew my Targets sucked for clearance discounts bumping on a regular basis, but yours are at 75% already!?!?!?

EDIT: I just checked and I may be by a better Target store out of town on Thursday that is showing it as IN-STOCK as of now. So here's to hoping they have one and it's 75-90% off there.;):p

Bingo! I couldn't buy it today because the manager wouldn't let me.(due to the price team not putting clearance stickers on it)

They work in the morning before they open, so I'm planning on showing up at 8AM to try to buy it. :D`

Nothing game oriented, but I did see some flat screen cleaning kits at $5 (75% off) and one if the stores in my town has those ION kits (the DJ shit that Target carries) at 75% off...
This one.
for like $72 or something... I had no interest, obviously.

They also has a bunch of bluetooth headsets for 75% off - including the $100 Motorola that flips open. I was tempted by that, but my headsets always end up lost or going for a turn in the washing machine.

Basically a game will be sent "to the back" when there is no longer an official shelf location for it. Each Monday will usually see the morning opener for Electronics/Entertainment tearing apart these long white label strips that have perforated edges, and these dictate where items will go on the planogram (sort of a "diagram" sent down by corporate letting us know how they would like an aisle or portion of an aisle to be stocked).

I don't know why the employee was scanning games to be sent "to the back", unless they were putting in the new revision labels and those games happened to be officially taken off the planogram, at which point it is either placed in a backroom location or flexed into empty spots at electronics' discretion.

An intelligently run video game section will be closely monitored by at least one of their employees to ensure that any empty spots for out-of-stock games is filled by another facing for a nearby game or another game that's sitting in the backroom without a location on the floor.

Got a 42" TV stand for a penny. Does that beat a guide?

Great success!!

I picked it up this morning for $42.xx after tax. :D

The employees I talked to had no idea why the manager told me what she did, but they let me buy it. :)

What has been going on with Target's gaming clearance lately? Last few weeks, I haven't found squat for clearance aside from a few random PS2 & PSP games.

BTW, finally saw a Target that has the new game layout (The Woodlands store). I do not approve. I see Target losing a lot of business from me this way.

So wait, what monitor is it? The Acer 21.5"? I really want to pick one up for cheap, but no stores around here have started them on clearance yet, and I have a feeling they won't make it down to 75% off even if they do

It's the Acer 19.5" I believe. My Target either already clearanced them or never carried them, 'cause all that's on my electronics dept shelves are 21.5 and 18.5
Acer 19.5" monitor
Wrong. Acer 21.5" monitor. :D

The same one that IATCG paid over $100 for. :D

EDIT: I think the DPCI was 080-00-0167, but that's from memory. I'll check the receipt later.

EDIT2: the DPCI above is now correct. I checked the receipt.

I could have swore it was the 19.5 .. well then. lol

EDIT: I confused the 21.5 Acer with the 19.5 Memorex -- my bad!

Nope. AFAIK there isn't a 19.5"

There's the 18.5", but I got the 21.5" one. :D

The 18.5" one isn't on clearance afaik.

EDIT: this is in reply to the post below it. Apparently there was a glitch in the Matrix...

:applause:Well played. Yes. I do believe that a tv stand would beat my small purchase. Although, mine was price matching a guide and not just getting an item for a penny.;)

Oh and dabamus, I'd laugh if my local Target had the display model Acer here for $40 now like you got. Unless you got a sealed in box one for $40, in which case good going.:applause:
Speaking of the electronics clearance stuff, I was at Target today and noticed that the Sony noise-cancelling earbud headphones (MDRNC33) are now 75% off of their original $99.99 price. I'm severely tempted by this, and I'll probably pick them up. $25 is a *lot* lower than everywhere else I've seen. They seem to be middle-range quality (nowhere *near* Bose quality from what I've read, but then, they're not $300 now, are they?) at best from what I've read of them, but still: if they're not at least $25 worth of decent, I'm sure Target will take them back.
Well, to follow up on my own post, this is only at a singular Target by me in the Detroit area. All other Targets might have the product, but *zero* of them have it on clearance. It is, however, designated in their system as discontinued, and soon-to-be-on clearance. The fact that the one store had it for $24.98 (75% off) is just plain weird, though.

I picked one up. Sorry if I confused anyone out there.

A couple of my local Targets have these at 30% off right now. I bought a pair of the white ones last year at 75% off. They're pretty nice headphones.

I got my dad the 18.5" on clearance for $54 last weekend, but the box was ripped so it was likely a return.

Just got back today. I went into snag Saints Row for $13.xx, but ended up just grabbing a 1600 card instead for $17.

Also got the 1gb Memory Stick Pro Duo for $6.98 marketed for PS3/PSP as I needed one for my Cybershot.

Who had the 22nd as the day in April that IATTCG brings up the price matching penny guide in the monthly pool?

Christ, it's like a fucking monthly bill we all have to pay for using CAG. STFU about it already!

(oops today is the 21st)

He's gonna kill me now.(IATCG)

I wanted a pair for dual displays so I did some hunting at 3 Targets I was going to be near. One had it for $160, one for $40 but OOS, and the last(Chapel Hill Mall, OH) had it for $40 and had a display model left.

The electronics guy couldn't find any paperwork for it, so I asked if there could be an additional discount since there was nothing but the monitor and two cords(power and VGA) and he said he would ask the supervisor. He asked her and she said to give me an additional 30% off!!!

I got it for $27.99 + tax. :D
