Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

The Legend of EL HOARDO as told by Strell
No cankle too big and no score too small,
The one and only EL HOARDO.

He'll steal your stash - gonna take it all,
That's the one - EL HOARDO.

He's gonna run down all the aisles
and snatch up all the loot,
And he's feeling really confident
in his nipple protection suit!

Awesome sideburns and a dapper mask
He's at your local store,
Gonna clean out everything
And then go back for more!

Who's the guy in the Star Trek shades?
He's the man they call EL HOARDO.

His boots are secretly roller blades,
There he goes! EL HOARDO!

He's got a cape and it's totally sweet,
A flash in red and white,
Calls his fanny pack his utility belt,
He's ready for a discount fight!

You'd never think he could run so fast,
With a gut of giant size,
Asks all the ladies if they'd like a ride
On his Starship Enterprise!

What's that sound comin' down the lane?
It can only be EL HOARDO.

His stubby legs are gonna bring the pain,
Brace yourselves - EL HOARDO!

He packs a sword, it's a replica,
Like Zorro in disguise,
Gonna leave an H scratched on the wall,
Then he'll move those ten ton thighs!

Knows all the price drops all the time,
Has inhalers to survive,
Lives in a basement at his parents house,
At the age of thirty five!

That's the one who got your penny guide,
The stallion called EL HOARDO.

He's got his Rascal parked outside,
That Man-of-Men EL HOARDO.

EL HOOOOOOOARDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.
I'm surprised anyone would hoard the HDs at $50 but if they dropped to $17 you can bet I'd have a cart of them. And probably have them hooked up by the end of the day. This isn't quite like buying up 16 Rock Bands-- there's no way you're not reselling (ok, yes, there's a chance you have 16 friends who are relying on YOU to buy them Rock Band, but I doubt it). But I'm a system admin where our budget is pretty much $0 so if I could get my hands on some easy backup drives/spare drives for lab computers/etc I'd grab them (and try to get reimbursed and when they laughed at me I'd just be out $17/each).

I think the fact the drives are on clearance is just starting a frenzy, though. I did manage to find one at $35 totally randomly a few weeks ago (before I think most stores started them on clearance)-- it just appeared. It's living as a nice backup drive for me at home now. Another store with 6 of them hasn't sold a one in weeks and they're still full price. I can only hope they don't start them off at $50 or else it sounds like they'll fly out of the door. :/
Well, those drives aren't worth the $50 price to me, which is why I had passed on them. I did find a drive on Monday for $17.xx, but the security seal was cut. Even though I checked it out and it looks unused, I've still been checking to see if I can find another drive at the price I paid so I can return the one I currently have.

I still don't think this dude was picking up the extra drives for a friends/etc. I was in the electronics area for a good while as I take my time looking through everything. This dude was never around until right before I was going to leave. He went straight for the drives and scooped them up all at once and set them on the ground and crouched over his litlle pile while he placed them into his basket.

One thing I've come to realize from all these posts is that El Hoardo's greatest power isn't to deprive us of good deals. It is his ability to divide the CAG community.

As far as gaming deals go, they're pretty much non-existant. The couple of copies of Demon's souls and IL-2 Sturmovik which I saw last week are gone. So much for trying to get Demon's souls for $15. The $30 I paid is still a good price.

I did find one Wii Speak for $7.48. All the other stores still have it at $21.

Aside from the drives and Harmony remotes, you may also want to check out the Belkin Powerline adapter. I've been tracking this for several months, when they first hit clearance, and it finally hit $50 last week(50% off). I plan on using it to hook up my 360, which is too far away from my router to do a wired hook up. I have a friend who uses it and he says it works great and most of the info I've found seems positive for it. I figure $50 for this is better than the stupid price that M-soft wants for their wireless adapter.

The DPCI for it is 080-00-0185 and if you do want one you better jump on it fast. Most stores that have it seem to carry one, maybe two packages. The three stores near me which had them last week were all sold out this week.

Yeah $50 is not that great of a price on these drives. It's an okay deal if you were already looking to buy an external 500GB, but not cheap enough where you'd pick it up even though you weren't planning to buy a drive.
Even if the man had a viable use for all FIVE external hard drives, I think someone else does have the right to take one of those FIVE drives if they want one. Really, it's not a dick move to make the hoarder think of his fellow man (by force).
Wow, you must work for the government with a mindset like that.

I'll just say I disagree, and you have absolutely no rights to be a cockass to someone in a store because you're all cranky that you missed a good deal.
I haven't been on this thread in forever. Is that $35 acoustic guitar worth it?
I got two, seems sturdy enough, supposed to be solid wood top instead of laminate. The accessories are "OK", but I recommend a better tuner since they are relatively inexpensive anyway. Gig bag is essentially a dust cover until you get a real case (or not).

I got this as a beater guitar since I got kids in the house.

Also the action feels a bit high, but the only (limited) experience I have is with guitars is an Electric Fender Stratocaster which generally has low action.

At 40 bucks, what is the risk? I figure I can instantly sell it on Craigslist for at least that much with little effort.

Just because I'm curious: how does everyone check Target's inventory? This seems to work well enough, but some of the DCPI's people are putting up in this thread aren't working. I could see this because clearance stuff could be taken out of the system at some point.

Just wondering.
I got this as a beater guitar since I got kids in the house.
Amen. My Fenders stay hidden away now that I have an 18 month old in the house... I thought about grabbing one of these, but I have a cheap Ovation that I got at a Guitar Center for like 80 bucks.
I think he's having trouble understanding that El Hoardo could have friends. :D
If your take is that he should be able to pile 2500 hd's into his cart if they're $1, then there's no need to make up the hypothetical reason why that's justified. It should be simply that it is his right. There's certainly no need to dress it up as something other than what it obviously is. Whereas I think people should always leave one (or a few, depending on how many of the item there is in question) for their fellow Clearance hunter. Its just courtesy. If everyone took this to heart, more dealhunters would find success and such karma would find its way back to you in time when someone else left a few for you when you weren't the first on the scene. But obviously, some of us are more... well, I'd call it, "selfish," but others might call it something else. "Savvy," I guess.

It is interesting to see people get insecure when they hear the call of people asking for others NOT to be El Hoardo, though. Suddenly, we get the, "Maybe he's buying those drives for friends!" argument. You needn't bother. If you think El Hoardo (or even you) have the right to clean out anything no matter what or how many even if you jump in front of someone who is also looking at said item, then that's your (and his) right. Just don't get the sad face when others call you El Hoardo and don't try to excuse it in others with, "He might be buying it for friends!" Its unnecessary. He might be buying them to give to people on the street. He might be buying them as paperweights. Or he might be using them to store secret government documents to send to Chinese/Russian/Iranian/Alien/The Matrix agents. Or he might be using them to build a rocket to the moon. But really, what's more likely? Ebay, friends, or anything else? And again, no one is arguing the hoarder doesn't have the right to clean out anything he can find, so excuses seem... pointless, don't they?

Thing is, I've found sometimes the things you have a right to do aren't always the right thing to do. Personally, I prefer to err on the side of cautionary altruism. Haha, your gain, I guess. ;)
Do you know how to read? What if he has 4 friends?
Then, I dunno... Maybe his friends could get down there and buy the drives themselves? Besides, if somebody buys up five drives, you really think they will graciously give four of them away for no profit? We're talking about a hoarder here... It's fine, I'll just remember that hording is okay in your book from now on. :applause:

I tried ending the argument, but I guess you must prove that he was just buying the rest for friends, because he was such a good Samaritan.

Are you new to this thread? ;)

Hoarding is generally frowned upon by the CAG community and its own set of ethics which obviously not every CAG subscribes to.

Outside of CAG, the guy is just a shopper, and he has every right to buy all of the drives the store puts on clearance if he gets there first. Its not even a moral or ethical gray area. They store puts the item out with no limitations, he puts the items in his cart and pays for them, end of story. It doesn't matter his motives.

So just because we finger him as El Hoardo under our set of ethics doesn't mean we can do anything about it either. If you think "meat is murder" you can't walk around McDonalds slapping Big Macs out of El Hoardo's mouth. You can't walk around trying to steal discounted hard drives out of his cart either, just because you think he should be nice enough to leave some behind.

We can gripe about El Hoardo on this board all day because many here wish that in a perfect world, people would leave clearance items on the shelf until they dropped to 75% off and then each person who comes across the item would only buy ONE if they truly wanted to PLAY the game/use the item, but... that's not the way the world works.

If you really want that hard drive from Target at a discount, bring a camping chair and get there at opening Monday morning and sit around until the crew does their markdowns. If you don't want to do that, then stop worrying and complaining about El Hoardo. Target isn't the only place that puts things on clearance or on sale. If you want a harddrive that bad, keep your eyes open and you'll probably find a similar deal elsewhere sooner or later.

Found a Target with about 7 of those 500gb hard drives (scanned at $48.xx). Also, there are a couple of HP printers (one with scan/copy/fax) on clearance now. Might pick up one for myself and for my parents next Monday.

There's no obligation for him to give one up, but I've found being a dick doesn't get you far in life, anyways. Taking one from him is wrong, I understand, but what if we were talking about the last rolls of toilet paper at Target, and somebody had seven packages of TP in their cart. Where exactly is the line? What about people who snatch up the deals during Black Friday, or even during console launch? I guess a $300 Xbox 360 is a bit more important than a $50 drive, but most people hoard for one main reason: to take advantage of people who weren't able to get the deal before them. It's necessity versus greed. And I'll just assume he was being a stand up guy and buying them for his friends with no gain to get confoosious to shut up. End.

Or you could go up to the guy and tell him you wanted a hard drive (or toilet paper or whatever). Why assume he's a dick or assume he's a stand up guy? Go talk to him. But there's been no evidence anybody actually did. Instead it's just a bunch of online tough guys spouting their usual self-righteous BS.
Just because I'm curious: how does everyone check Target's inventory? This seems to work well enough, but some of the DCPI's people are putting up in this thread aren't working. I could see this because clearance stuff could be taken out of the system at some point.

Just wondering.
How dare you make a post that is not a joke!

Jk, that link sucks. I did extensive testing on it (one game: de blob) and it could not find it using the dpci but when I went straight to Target.com, de blob showed up fine and I could check the inventory.

If you go to Target.com and put in the DPCI, you will probably be able to search your stores if the listing hasn't been deleted yet.

or

you could use this link:

http://www.target.com/gp/store-info/find-target-store.html?asin=B000O3IS48

and replace the asin with the game for which you are searching (asin numbers can be found on Amazon in the product details section of the page).

If you use that link as it is, it shows as the listing for Ninja Gaiden Sigma :ps3:. Notice that there is no DPCI listed for it. If you then put in your zip code you will get this message every time:

Sorry. Our inventory information system is unavailable right now. We are working on the problem and should have it corrected shortly. Please check back soon to try your search again.

If the DPCI is missing or it is a online DPCI (241-xx-xxxx) then the locator will not work.

Skate 2 :ps3: is a good example,

http://www.target.com/gp/store-info/find-target-store.html?asin=B001FZ13AU

See that it has the 241-xx-xxxx DPCI. When you search with a zip code, you get Not Available instead of Out of Stock, Available, etc.

I hope this helps.

there is no obligation, and there shouldn't be any expectation. but, if you're going to do something like that and brag about it people will be let down.

this is a community and a forum. and a principle of this community is a desire to help each other. when that dies out the deals will away and the site will disappear.

by helping eachother we save more money and get a better collection of stuff.
Do I have $100 to throw down on one? Nope!
Why don't you just buy an internal drive, and an enclosure, and quit your whining? Or, why don't you wait a few weeks and save up a bit more cash and buy whatever you want?

Whether or not you feel it's ethical/moral to 'hoard' isn't a factor on whether or not you can take stuff out of people's carts. What if you need five of something and someone stole one out of your cart thinking you're just going to re-sell?

Regardless of intent after purchase, it's still complete douchebaggery to take something out of someone's cart -- if anything, that is the unethical act, not the hoarding.

Has anyone see any Harmony's on sale in MA -- specifically Millbury, Milford, Framingham, Marlboro area?

Psshh, I was busy!

hoardodangercart3.png

El Hoardo WANTS you to try and take something out of his modified DANGER CART (not to be confused with his modified Rascal HOARDOMOBILE). Twin laser cannons AND a front rack mounted ram-drill.

You wish you could take on that beast.
Yeah $50 is not that great of a price on these drives. It's an okay deal if you were already looking to buy an external 500GB, but not cheap enough where you'd pick it up even though you weren't planning to buy a drive.
The size of it, and the fact that it needs an external power source definitely don't make it a great deal until you get it for about 75% off.
I haven't been on this thread in forever. Is that $35 acoustic guitar worth it?
Yes if you just want a spare guitar or one that could take the beating and leave it laying around the house without any worry. After all it's still a Fender brand so it won't be that bad. It won't match against those guitars with Solid tops but yeah will probably be decent enough for beginner to try out guitar and see if they like it. Sadly the only store here with the $37.98 price for these guitar package is out of stock, and the other 2 stores with some of them left still have them at $104.98. I wonder if I could buy from the other stores and return & rebuy it at the store with lower price or get price adjustment. Anyone know about this? Probably YMMV

I'm thinking of picking up one of those acoustic guitars. I guess since Target hasn't had any good games on clearance for a while I'll just mess around with the guitar until they do. BTW I noticed Target updates the prices of clearance games they don't have in stock anymore, which seems pointless.

bunch of ps2 games ranging from 9.98-14.98 (star trek, lego indiana jones original adventures, nppl paint ball, lego batman, midnight club la, god of war, and a few others can't remember) :360: they had ski doo challenge 9.98, call of duty 3 20.98 and the club 9.98, oh they had a :wii: wii fit travel and storage case for 7.98.

They made over the Target closest to me and it looks like something that Walmart would do, but never Target. Pretty sad since I thought the glass case setup looked 10x better. Plus there is SO much room with this new display setup, so they may not clearance games as often...

1. I wonder how many people post in clearance threads boasting about getting in on sweet deals when in all reality they didnt get shit and they wanted to get some props on the boards? Not saying everyones doing it but you know it happens.

2. Target on I-10 at Gessner put out of nowhere 6 or 7 Fable II PH at 20.98. They still have 4 or 5 of the HD's but still at the 48 price point.

I picked one up when they hit $38.

I don't know how to play but would like to learn.

This seemed like a perfect opportunity to try and if I do show some progress, I'll look into getting a better guitar. Besides, I've bought fake plastic guitars that cost more than this.

The store where I got the guitar only had a couple in stock but another store, that's about 1 mile away, had about 10 of them. Unfortunately, they still had them priced at $75. This other store also had one electric guitar (I think it was also Fender Stratocaster) for $99.

As expected, I checked out my closest Target today and the 21.5" LCD monitor was NOT on clearance there, but they DID have a sealed one in stock. They also had the game cases ripped open and empty, since I guess they're about to convert them over to the shorter zip cord plastic prison variety.

I also had them check Demon's Souls in the system and last price in the system there was $14.98.:bomb:

Saw The Beatles Rock Band for $29.99 and GH5 and GH:Van Halen for $41.99 a piece at the South Dale Mabry Target. I'll wait for the $15 range before I grab GH5 or Beatles.
IT HAS BEEN DONE.

What is this FaceBook you speak of? Is it like this new fangled contraption called a cell phone I've heard of?

I had a Facebook account....for all of 30 seconds this morning. I only signed up to add comments to Sony's Playstation page on there about the new shitty firmware for PS3. Then once I found I couldn't add a comment(unless I guess I was 'friended' by them)I deactivated it.

Yeah, I hear ya. I didn't/don't want to be confrontational about it, but all the PS3s everyone was reporting a couple months back seemed mighty suspicious--I'm sure some of them were legit deals as sometimes Target does do the craziest things. I want to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. There are already too many trolls on CAG, they don't need more people baiting in threads.

After Xmas 20009 I found a 5 year old Star Wars toy, in a ragged out box that I had never seen on the shelf at a Target before, as an endcap clearance item. It was so friggin odd, and priced well, so I picked it up for my kid, so I know they sometimes do crazy stuff.

Holy shit. That Target flung you into the future and all you bought was Legos? I mean yeah, Legos are awesome, but surely you could have had a ray gun or sexbot or something.
