If you want to connect old rf consoles, you could always use a vcr or settop dvd recorders. They have built in tuners. If you need a digital box, you might have to get an ota (over the air) one. I used to have a Samsung digital hdtv tuner sir-t451 back when hdtv's didn't have digital tuners...

I"m assuming your hdtv has an optical output? What you can do is check if the tv will pass the digital signal from the hdmi source to your stereo. So, connect the sat and 360 to hdmi. Then connect the optical cable from your hdtv to your stereo. Doesn't hurt to try and you have all the cables...

Gamecube doesn't support DD 5.1 sound. It does use Dolby Prologic II a sort of 5.1 but not true 5.1. If your reciever supports it that's as close as you'll get to surround sound on gamecube. http://www.dolby.com/consumer/technology/prologic_II.html for more info.
